You can't fight all battles alone
A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma fighting a losing battle and Charming trying to step in but Emma won't let him because she doesn't want Neal losing his father so young. Charming helps anyway. You only need to ask me once lol. Season 5b spoilers.
Doctor Jekyll wasn't the only new villain brought to Storybrooke with the people of the Land of Untold Stories. Then along with those villains came their henchmen. It was the henchmen the heroes were struggling with first. In order to get to the proper villains, they had to go through their people. The main problem was, there were swarms of them. Emma found herself facing a rather large amount of them. Her magic proved useless, they seemed to have magic deflecting shields. She was surrounded. Emma wasn't sure she was going to win this. She didn't know what was going to happen to her. Would they kill her? Kidnap her? Emma didn't know. All she did know was she would fight until the bitter end.
"Emma!" Suddenly called behind her. Emma didn't look round. If she did she might lose any advantage she currently had. A moment later, the person had joined her by her side and was helping her fight the hordes of thugs. She saw that it was her dad.
"Get back!" She ordered him. Emma tried to shove him away, but Charming stayed still.
"Emma are you insane?! There are far too many for you to take on alone!" He told her, starting to clash swords with a few.
"Dad I mean it! I can handle this on my own! If something goes wrong at least my son will remember me!" She told him. Now Charming understood. She was worried he would die and Neal would lose him.
"Emma I'm going to be fine." He promised her. "But I'm sure as Hell not trading a slight risk of my life for yours." He told her. Emma still wanted him to leave, she didn't want to be in any way responsible for her little brother growing up fatherless, but she could see telling him to leave wasn't going to work. So instead she went to making sure she had his back. Then together, they managed to fight off the henchmen.
When they were left alone again, exhausted from the fight, Emma shot her dad daggers.
"You should have just left me." She panted. "I could have taken them. It wasn't worth the risk for you." Charming couldn't believe what she was saying.
"Emma, you could have been hurt, or worse, you could have died taking all those thugs on by yourself. I can't believe you didn't call for backup! Of course it was worth the risk. My family is always worth the risk." Charming took Emma into his arms. "You're always worth the risk." Emma rested her head against his chest. She still didn't like that he'd done that, even if it was for her. But she couldn't deny that it felt good, it felt safe, to know she always had someone who would watch out for her like that.
