Chip off the block

Jade Star asked for a oneshot of Emma and Charming practicing with their swords in SB. Charming muses over how both he and Emma fought Maleficent and Rumplestiltskin. Emma jokes that it must be a family thing.

Charming nodded, impressed, at Emma's form.

"You've been practicing." He commented. Emma grinned.

"Maybe you're just slowing down, old man." Emma quipped back. Charming raised an eyebrow at her before swiftly and fluidly moving in such a way that before Emma could react the tip of his sword was a centimetre from her chest.

"You're not good enough to be cheeking me off yet." He pointed out. He took his sword away, placing it on the table beside him.

"I'm getting there though." Emma said. "I fought the dragon queen same as you did. And the imp, come to think about it."

"Yeah, I guess we have." He said. He smiled at her. "Guess you're a little chip off the old block, huh Em?" He teased her. Emma rolled her eyes.

"Well there were bound to be some of your genes influencing me." Emma pointed out.

"Well that's obvious. You got my good looks." Charming joked, gently knocking Emma's chin. Emma laughed, moving his hand away.

"Guess running villains through is a family thing." She pointed out. Charming smiled at her.

"Yeah, I guess it is." He agreed. He picked his sword back up. "Come on, we'd best get cleaned up before dinner." Charming stopped and suddenly laughed.

"What?" Emma asked him, wondering what the joke was. Charming looked at his daughter, his eyes twinkling.

"That's another thing you seem to have got from me. Showing up for dinner straight from training in such a state that your mom wants to hit you over the head with a tea towel." He told her. Emma laughed, agreeing with her dad. She looked at her hands and grimaced. Her dad was very right.
