Driven mad- part 3

A guest asked for a oneshot of a third and final instalment to Ch1978 "Driven mad" (part 2) where Emma is cured.

Nikki: It just so happens someone else asked for this, gap rule :).

Charming was right to trust that Emma could be healed. It would not be a short or painless process, but it was at least possible.

The hardest part for Emma's family was seeing her being locked up in a special room of the psychiatric unit with magical reinforcement placed on it by the fairies, Regina and Zelena. They weren't allowed to see her for days at a time. The treatment to undo the damage done by Greg and Tamara was intense and took its toll on Emma. She responded with different extremes of emotions and sometimes both the medical staff and the magical experts didn't think it was a good idea to have her family exposed to her during such a traumatic time.

The only positive note Emma's family could find, was that on the rare occasions they were permitted to see her, there was obvious improvement each and every single time. Each time there was more of the real Emma poking through to the surface. Each time there was more hope that the old Emma would come back fully one day.

It took months, but the hope of the Charming family paid off. The day finally came when the medical team deemed Emma safe and sane enough to be allowed to return home. Once a week she had to come in for a counselling session, but otherwise, was a free woman again.

It was clear from her shifting eyes as she left the building that Emma was still uncertain this was a good idea. What if she lost control again? What if she hurt someone? Her family, however, had every faith in her. Her parents flanked her on either side and Henry took her hand with his ever encouraging smile. Emma took a deep breath and allowed them to lead her to the car. They thought she could do this. Right now, that was enough to reassure her that she just might pull this off.
