The file
snoopykid asked for a oneshot of *5b spoilers!* Henry finding Emma's file that Cleo had from when she skipped bail.
I think we're probably coming to the end of Cleo based oneshots.
Henry hadn't meant to snoop around his mom's room. He was just looking for her stapler. He was looking in a box of paperwork when he found a file with his mom's name on it. He didn't recognise the handwriting. Curious, he opened it up to have a little peak inside. Inside, was a record that someone had clearly gathered of his mom's life. As far as he could see, it stopped shortly after she left jail. Shortly after she had him. It had details of the crime she had committed. Details of everywhere she had lived from Montpelier in the east coast to Cheyenne in the west. Even he didn't realised she'd been bounced around so often. This Cleo person had clearly been keeping a close eye on his mom. By the time he finished the file, he realised why. She was a bail bondsperson. His mom had jumped bail. Cleo had found her in Carson City, she was clearly sneaking her way out of Arizona, which was outwith her bail terms. There were a few notes scribbled underneath the last official entry. Reasons why this Cleo Fox thought that his mom had jumped bail firstly. Henry's heart skipped a beat. The main reason she suspected what that so she could find him. Henry hoped that was true. He hoped his mom had been looking for him before he found her ten years later.
Underneath that was a final scribble about how his mom had evaded her. But Henry suspected there was more to it than that. So he waited till his mom was home and showed her the file, asking what really happened. Emma smiled, taking the file from him. She hadn't seen this or thought about Cleo in years.
"She let me go." Emma told him. "She died, and then told me who to talk to so I could get a job doing what she did. She saved me from being thrown back in jail. She was a good woman, and I was sorry that she died." Emma looked down at her son. She wished Cleo was still alive. She wished she could write to her and tell her that they had been reunited. But some things just weren't meant to be.
