Finger down
MeAndMyApples asked for a oneshot of a little Emma breaking her little finger in the EF and her parents being there for her. I hope your pinky heals soon!
"It hurts mama!" Emma wailed, soaking her mother's top.
"I know baby girl." Snow said, kissing Emma's head. Snow and Charming hated seeing her so distressed, and according to Doc she wasn't going to be fully healed for another two to three weeks. Emma had fallen awkwardly onto her pinky finger. Upon inspection, Doc had determined that Emma's little finger was broken. He had popped the finger back into place (alongside screams of bloody murder from Emma) and placed a supporting mechanism around it to keep it steady. Three hours later, and Emma was still sobbing. Not that Snow or Charming were complaining, they felt awful for their little girl.
"Here princess, look what daddy's got you." Charming said, bending down so he was eye level with Emma. He knew Emma held a special place in her heart for swans. She was always fascinated when she saw any on the pond near the palace. She thought they were amazing birds. So Charming had gone out to the market and sought out a soft toy swan for his little princess. "It's a swan, just for you. I know how much you love them and since you've been such a big brave girl I found one for you. My little swan princess. Charming then pretended to have the swan toy swim around Emma before tapping the beak to Emma's nose. Both parents delighted in the way it finally made her stop crying and even give a little smile. "There's my happy girl!" Charming said, relieved. "What are we gonna name this little guy then, huh?" He asked her. Emma's face scrunched up.
"No daddy, she's a girl." Emma said, almost sounding offended. Charming pretended to be mortified. He had the swan face him.
"I am so sorry, Miss Swan. I had no idea. Please forgive me of my rudeness." He could see Snow smiling over at him. How she loved when he acted like this with Emma. He was the most amazing father. Emma nodded, taking back her swan.
"Princess says you're forgiven." Emma said.
"Ah, so her name's Princess then?" Charming asked. Emma nodded in confirmation, clutching Princess tightly to her and cuddling her, her sore hand sticking out awkwardly.
After a few minutes, her little head began to droop. It had been quite the ordeal for Emma. Snow knowingly then gently manoeuvred Emma's head so it rested against her shoulder as she fell asleep. Charming kissed the side of Snow's head.
"She'll be ok, won't she?" He asked. Snow nodded.
"She's our tough little princess. She'll be just fine. Especially with Princess by her side. That was a nice touch." Snow complimented him. Charming grinned at her. He was pretty proud of that thought himself. He then leaned his head against Snow's shoulder as the pair of them just watched their little girl's sleeping face. Something neither of them would ever tire of seeing.
