Comfort from her heart
Sarahlee asked for a oneshot of Snow and Emma watching a movie together. After a while, Snow notices that Emma's eyes are closed and she's smiling with her head on Snow's chest. Snow asks her what she's smiling about and teases Emma. Emma gets embarrassed because she was listening to her mom's heartbeat.
There was nothing Snow loved more at the end of a long, hard, week of working than being able relax in front of the TV. This Friday, Emma had joined her and they were curled up together on the couch watching a cheesy rom-com about some couple in Indianapolis. It wasn't the greatest movie either of them had ever saw, but they were at least able to chill.
Emma, in particular, was feeling very relaxed. It was cosy in the living room of the little loft flat and she found her head becoming very heavy. She slowly started moving it down until eventually her head was resting against her mom's chest. Snow didn't even bat an eyelid. Having little Neal in her life, the mothering side of her was always active. She had even noticed Emma seeking more affection from both her and Charming since Neal's birth. So without making a fuss, Snow placed her hand on top of Emma's head and began to play with her hair. She noticed that Emma seemed to have become silent. She looked down to see if Emma had fallen asleep and her heart warmed at the sight. Emma's eyes were closed and she had a happy smile on her face. Snow didn't think she was sleeping. At least not yet.
"Aww, someone's a happy girl." Snow gently teased her. Emma's eyes blinked open.
"Huh?" She asked, sitting up. Snow rested her head against the back of the couch as she looked at Emma.
"You had quite the contented smile on your face there. What were you thinking about?" Snow asked her. Emma blushed, not wanting to answer. "Oh come on Em, you might as well tell me now. I'm your mom, it surely can't be that bad." Emma was still pink when she explained to her mom.
"I didn't really know I was smiling. I just started to hear your heartbeat. It was pretty soothing I guess. That's all." Snow smiled at her.
"Well there's nothing to get all embarrassed about Em. Of course you found it soothing. It was one of the first things you ever heard. I'll bet it put you to sleep at least a few times. Of course your sub-conscience reacted the way it did. There's no need to be ashamed of it. Snow reached out and stroked her thumb against Emma's cheek, nearly chuckling at the heat radiating from it. It was still a work in progress getting Emma to feel comfortable accepting affection and comfort from either of her parents. They would get there, though. Snow knew eventually Emma would no longer feel awkward with such situations. It was just a matter of time.
