Emma's old partner
Lama asked for a oneshot of Emma meeting up with an old bail bonds partner whilst she and the family are in Boston. They tell Emma's family stories about foot and car chases they went on together as well undercover work. Some stories almost give her parents heart attacks. They know a lot about Emma which leads to a small amount of jealousy.
You were perfectly respectful with sharing your viewpoint so of course I'm not mad :).
Emma had finally caved on her family's wishes to see more of the world outside of Storybrooke. Specifically, places where Emma had spent time. So she, her parents and Henry had arranged a week long holiday in Boston. They were only two days in and were all exhausted from all the sightseeing. She'd taken them on the Freedom Trail and to the New England Aquarium. They were having a blast.
While they were out of Storybrooke, Emma had decided to meet up with an old friend from her time as a bondsperson. Emma hadn't seen Kirsty in years and thought a good catch up was in order. When her family heard about this old friend, they asked if they could meet her too. Emma had agreed, but obviously her parents would have to pretend to just be good friends for the duration of the meeting. But they didn't mind. It would be nice to get to know a bit more about Emma's life before Storybrooke.
So that evening, they went to a nice restaurant for dinner where Kirsty came and met them. She hadn't changed at all since Emma had last seen her. She still had gorgeous auburn hair that flowed to the middle of her back. She didn't look like a typical bail bondsperson, but Emma assured her family that Kirsty could handle herself.
"Emma it's so good to see you!" Kirsty greeted her old friend with a hug.
"You too." Emma responded with a grin. "Kirsty, this is my son, Henry. These are good friends of ours, Mary Margaret and David." Kirsty greeted Emma's family and sat down at the table.
"So you were Emma's partner, back in the day?" Charming asked her. Kirsty nodded.
"David and I are partners now at the police station in the town where we live." Emma told Kirsty. "That's how we met."
"Well you certainly are lucky then. Couldn't have asked for a better partner than Emma. She was a rookie in the business and I'll be honest, I wasn't sure it was going to work out. But Emma really proved herself. On one of our first assignments we had to pretend to be…" Kirsty cast a glance at Henry "…well, ladies of the night, shall we say, in the red light district in Springfield, Illinois. I didn't think Emma would be able to hack such a difficult first case, but she got in the car without a flinch and within ten minutes we had the S.O.B heading back to his cell." Kirsty said proudly. Emma laughed awkwardly as she saw her parents trying to be polite and act impressed, when in reality she knew they were horrified.
"Yeah, great story Kirsty, maybe we'll tell that one properly when Henry's not around. How about the time we chased down that lady in Lansing? That's a cracker." Emma prompted Kirsty. Much to Emma's relief, Kirsty was more than happy to recount that tale, as well as countless other adventures the pair went on together as dinner went on.
Snow and Charming were flabbergasted at how much this woman had done with their daughter in what was a relatively short period of time. They'd been all over the country together. They couldn't help but feel a little glum at how well this Kirsty knew Emma from the details she was giving from these stories. How could she possibly know more about Emma than they did? It was just one of these things they had to accept coming into her life so late.
All too soon, the meal and the evening came to an end and it was time for the family to head back to their hotel. Emma hugged her old friend tightly.
"Don't leave it so long next time." Kirsty instructed her. "I've got plenty more stories I could be telling. Like when we were in Frankfort in Kentucky…"
"Yeah, that's a great story…for another time." Emma said, not sure her parents or son could handle hearing about her involved in a speeding car chase that involved guns. Lots of guns. "And there will be another time." Emma promised before the rest of her family said their goodbyes too as they headed out to the car.
"She was nice." Henry commented. "What happened in Frankfort?" Emma chuckled. Of course the kid would pick at that.
"I'll tell you when you're older." She told him, knowing that would at least reluctantly put him off for a bit.
I won't be writing a sequel to either of today's chapters :).
