The seven adventurers set sail by night. The ship held four medium-sized cabins. Finn and Jake entered the first cabin on the left, with Simon and Peppermint Butler in the cabin next to it. Marceline took the cabin across from that one. The last cabin, across from Finn and Jake's, was left for Flame Princess and Water Princess. The two shared an awkward glance.

Flame Princess had brought along a special suit (provided beforehand by Princess Bubblegum) with holes in the hands that could be opened and closed, in order to allow for shooting fire.

It was late by this time, so the group went to bed, the boat sailing into the ocean, a fact Finn would become aware of when he woke up. As the morning came, the seven went down to a small eating area with a dining table and some chairs. Simon and Peppermint Butler had brought along food, water, and a few other necessities, such as a compass for navigating, and a map with several islands.

Five of the crew went outside to look at the waves, leaving Finn and Marceline inside. Finn's stomach started to rumble, black smoke comimg out. It was the Fear Feaster.

"Well, it seems you haven't gotten over your fear yet. And you want to know what, you never will. Hahaha."

Finn's metal arm transformed involuntarily. The Kouvier Blade sliced the Fear Feaster in half, releasing Finn of his fear of the ocean. Finn tried to will it back to his metal arm, but the blade resisted for a few seconds. Starting to get worried, Finn joined the rest outside. Marceline would have joined them, but she only had a limited amount of the sun block Peppermint Butler had given her.

Outside, on the front deck, Simon was talking to the rest of the group.

"There's a legend, of a mysterious statue on a far-away island. It is sentient, and can lead us to Princess Bubblegum. It is said it will bestow upon a gift to whoever is worthy, and answer any question they may have. I believe at least one of us is worthy."

"How long will it take to get there?" Flame Princess asked.

"A few days or so, perhaps," Peppermint Butler interjected. "It's not too far from the Land of Ooo, but far enough."

The group spent the next few minutes watching the waves as the ship continued it's course.

As the group headed inside, Simon and Marceline went to talk. Peppermint Butler went to go do Peppermint Butler things, and Jake went to call Lady. Finn and the two princesses were left standing in the hallway between the cabins.

"Listen, I-" Finn started to say.

"I know," Water Princess said. She left to the front deck, and Finn and Flame Princess went inside the currently vacant cabin (FP and WP's).

"Listen, I care about you, a lot."

"I know, Finn," Flame Princess said. For a moment, all was silent. Flame Princess burned more intensely at her cheeks. "Finn, I need to tell you something."

"Yeah?"

"Those weeks made me realize something. I still have some feelings for you."

"I know, me too. But, it's too late. We've moved on. I mean, aren't you supposed to be getting married?"

"It wasn't going to work out with Ignis. Besides, since I'm in charge now, I get to decide who I marry."

"Yeah, but still. It's over for us."

The two let the realization sink in and returned to their rooms. As the hours went by, the sun started to go down. The fading light was only that much dimmer due to approaching clouds. As the crew started to prepare for nightfall, the clouds grew darker and bigger, a sure sign that a storm was soon to come.

Finn lay on his bed, thinking of all that happened since he had the dream of Flame Princess that night. The dream that had started it all. The breakup, Water Princess, the Keeper, everything. As he fell asleep, he dreamed of a dark, rocky room.

Inside his dream, a giant, rocky body appeared before him. It was difficult to tell what exaxtly it was with the low light. He heard a voice:

"Finn the Human, find me on the island. I will reveal to you the answers you seek."

"Wake up!"

"Huh?"

"Finn!" Jake was shouting. "Get up, man! There's some major stuff going down!'

Finn started to get up when the ship lurched sideways. Finn was tossed out of his bed.

"What's going on?"

"It's a storm."

The brothers ran out into the hall. The rest were already there. Simon was putting his glasses on.

"Darn, this storm is going to bring us off course."

The crew struggled to navigate in the storm. Meanwhile, Flame Princess was inside, along with Peppermint Butler, so the two weren't affected (although FP had a protective suit). The ship tossed and turned in the violent storm. There wasn't much any of them could do. They would just have to wait it out.

"Uh oh," Simon uttered.

The group looked at Simon, wondering what was wrong. Finn noticed it first as his hand tried to form his sword. The rest of the party soon saw it as well: a maelstrom. A giant one. Right in the ship's path.

Simon tried desperately to turn the ship, but it was too late. The ship was being sucked in. The boat was drawing nearer and nearer to the center, revolving around the whirlpool, slowly becoming more and more vertical.

The boat started to break apart, pieces of wood flying through the air. One of the pieces tore through Flame Princess' suit, and another cracked her helmet.

The ship lurched, and she fell off of the ship just as the ship splintered.

"Flame Princess!" Finn shouted as the ship collapsed into the waves.

Flame Princess woke up in a dark room. She could tell by the floor that it was some sort of cavern. She walked unsteadily, hanging on to the wall, feeling her way around. Suddenly, a bright light was shone on her.

"Princess of Fire, welcome to my domain."

She looked up. It was a marble-like creature, a shell on its back. It had sharp corner teeth, and catfish-like tendrils under its nose. It had reptilian eyes and sharp talons on its feet. It had a long tail and appeared scaly.

"I am Nanam."
