Once words are out

One of my own now. One I cannot believe I haven't written! I was going through a few of my favourite Charming family scenes and I rewatched Snow telling her secret at the cave in Neverland. So here is an added scene from that time of Emma and Snow talking through what Snow admitted to. We'll also pretend Snowing made up very quickly haha.

Emma had been so quiet with her since they found Neal. The others were trying to convince her it was because she was trying to figure out her feelings between Hook and Neal as well as trying to find Henry, but Snow knew that wasn't the case. Snow knew it was because of what she relieved at the cave. This was made even clearer to Snow by the way Emma was avoiding any situation that might leave the pair of them alone together, or with just Charming present. She was avoiding the clearing the air that badly needed to be done because of the emotions that would be involved. Well Snow wasn't having it. She cursed herself for coming across as so insensitive, but at the time she knew she had to be honest. It was the only way to get to Neal. But she refused to let her relationship with Emma completely disintegrate over it. She wasn't losing her daughter.

So Snow carefully made sure that during the evening, she would have some time alone with Emma. Emma was due to collect firewood, so Snow would follow behind her and they could talk about the whole messy situation.

Charming knew how nervous Snow was about talking to Emma about all this. Just before she went to leave, he gave her a quick kiss.

"It'll be alright." He promised her. "It might take time, but it'll all be ok, Snow. You'll see." Snow smiled, brushing her thumb along his cheek. He always knew just what to say. Snow then took a deep, steadying, breath before heading towards the clearing into the forest where Emma would be gathering wood.

It didn't take long for Snow to find Emma. She had her back to her as she gathered pieces of wood.

"Emma?" Snow said gently. Emma froze, not turning around. "Emma, we need to talk…"

"There's nothing to talk about." Emma snapped, going back to gathering the wood. Snow came over and placed her hand on Emma's shoulder, halting her. She wasn't letting Emma run away from this one.

"There's lots to talk about." Snow said gently. "So sit down, and lets talk."

"I said there's nothing to talk about!" Emma suddenly shouted, wrenching her arm away from Snow. She stood bolt upright. "You don't want me. That's all there is to it." Snow knew that's what Emma was thinking, that's why she wanted to talk about what was said. She had to get it through to Emma that of course she wanted her. Snow placed both her hands on Emma's shoulders, ignoring her attempts to move away.

"Emma of course I want you. I have always wanted you and I always will want you. Having another baby would never change that." Snow promised her daughter. Even though Emma was refusing to look at her, she could see the tears building up behind her eyes. "So please, Emma, sit down and talk to me about what you're thinking. About how you're feeling. Emma then at least sat down, which Snow saw at progress. She then tentatively sat beside her. Snow kept looking right in Emma's eyes, even if Emma refused to reciprocate the gesture.

"All my life all I ever wanted, was for someone to love me. Someone to want me and not just see me as a paycheque. I thought when I found you and dad I could at least have that. But then in there, you said I wasn't what you wanted…"

"No." Snow interrupted, heartbroken. She took Emma's hand in her own. "No, Emma. Not you. Never you. I said this situation isn't what I wanted. I wanted you right from the start. Just because I didn't get that doesn't mean I don't want you. Having another baby could never replace you or what we lost with you, Emma. That isn't why I want another baby."

"Then why do you?" Emma asked quietly. "Why amen't I good enough?" Snow could hear from the pain in Emma's voice that this wasn't the first time a new baby had caused disruption to her home life. Snow took Emma's face in her hands and got Emma to look at her so her daughter could see she wasn't lying.

"You will always be more than good enough for both your father and me." Snow promised her, meaning every word. "We were always going to have more than one child Emma. We just didn't plan on such a big age gap. If and when we have another child Emma, it doesn't mean we'll suddenly abandon you. This isn't like any time before, Emma. You're always going to be our daughter too." Emma sniffed and wiped her eyes with her free sleeve.

"We'll see about that." She said quietly. "That's what they all said."

"They weren't us." Snow reminded Emma. "We're your real parents, Emma. Just because you're not a baby doesn't mean we have any intention or want to give you up. Hell will freeze over before I allow anyone to separate us again. That includes you, Emma. I'm not letting those walls of yours cause you to run from us because you're frightened we'll leave you first. Your father and I are never leaving you again. Ok?"

"Ok." Emma responded quietly. Snow knew there was still doubt there, but she also knew nothing she could say would remove that doubt now. The only thing that would remove it would be when the time came. If she and Charming had another baby. Only proving to Emma then that they were not going to abandon her, would that stop Emma's doubt.
