Kissing it better
AmyRose asked for a oneshot of Emma and Neal both getting minor injuries and Neal asks his mom to kiss it better for him. She does, and then Neal insists that she has to kiss Emma's injuries better too.
"Was that good fun then buddy?" Emma asked her little brother as she got him buckled into his car seat in her bug. Neal nodded enthusiastically.
"Yeah!" He shouted. He looked at his arms and frowned slightly. "But I wish they hadn't scratched me so much." He said. Since Emma knew Neal loved animals so much, she had arranged a special treat for him. One of the dogs in the pound that her dad had volunteered at before the curse broke had recently given birth to a litter of pups. So Emma had called up the owner and arranged for her to be able to take Neal down to play with them for a little while. He'd had a blast, but the little ones were very over-excitable and their sharp little teeth and claws had left tiny scratches and bites all over them. Especially the bits of their arms and neck exposed by their t-shirts.
"I know buddy. Me too." Emma responded as she started the engine. "Come on, we can go home and you can tell mommy and daddy all about the puppies." This seemed to excite Neal, and he stopped fixating on the little marks.
"Hey guys!" Charming called from the living room where he and Snow were when he heard the front door. "How were the puppies?"
"Awesome!" Neal answered his dad excitedly as he came flying into the living room with a big smile on his face. "They were so fun!"
"Great, but what happened to your arms baby?" Snow asked. Emma winced. She hoped her mom wouldn't ask about the little marks. Neal was fine and wasn't really in pain. But being a small boy of four, any little marks were suddenly life threatening wounds that needed urgent attention. Neal looked at his arms, as though he had forgotten about the cuts and little bites altogether. He then looked back up at his mom with a petted lip.
"The puppies were a bit naughty." He answered. He then scrambled up onto her lap. He held out one arm for her. Snow smiled.
"Are you wanting me to kiss them better?" She asked. Neal nodded. Snow then took her time and made sure to kiss each little mark for her little boy. "All better now?" She asked. Neal nodded. He then saw Emma heading towards the kitchen. "Wait Emma!" He called out. Emma turned on the spot and looked at her little brother. "You got hurt too. Mommy needs to kiss your arms better too." Snow and Charming both smiled at how adorable their little boy was, and how red Emma went.
"I think I'm ok buddy." She told him. Neal's bottom lip started quivering.
"But then your arms won't get better." He said, upset at the idea of Emma not getting better. Emma looked to her mom who just smiled and shrugged slightly. It didn't bother her. Emma could see there was only one way to deal with this situation without Neal getting overly upset.
"Ok." She sighed. She trudged over to the sofa and sat between her parents. Awkwardly, she held out one arm towards her mom. Snow couldn't help but want to high-five Neal. She'd never had the chance to do this for Emma, and thought she never would. Snow took hold of Emma's arm with one arm and gently pressed her lips against each of Emma's own little cuts and bites. When she was done with one arm, she took the other and repeated the process.
"All better?" Snow asked her daughter.
"All better." Emma grumbled, mortified. Emma looked at her brother, who now seemed satisfied, before getting up and going through to the kitchen as planned. Snow and Charming shared a look with each other. Despite her clearly never going to admit it, they both knew Emma had appreciated that gesture. They just wished they could have been there to kiss all her wounds better.
