Seeing things blurry- part 2
LuLu asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch2012 "Seeing things blurry"
Emma's hope paid off. Elsa was able to have Ingrid see sense and the curse of shattered sight was broken. But that didn't mean the effects stopped immediately. Oh no. Most people in Storybrooke had said at least one thing they regretted to someone they loved or cared about. This included both Snow and Charming. They had said some vile things to each other, and to Emma. Although full apologies had been made to each other and to their daughter (as well as to Anna and Kristoff for the few sly insults thrown their way) the tension remained. Not so much between Snow and Charming, they were true loves. They'd been through curses before and they were prepared to bet they'd come through more in the future. They were rock solid. It was their relationship with Emma that had wobbled a bit. Just like a drunk man's words are a sober man's thoughts; what they may have said whilst cursed wasn't what they would say to Emma, there was slight truth behind it. Well, not so much what Charming had said. He knew Emma was his daughter (her stubbornness was proof enough of that). He was more demonstrating through that little attack that he still hadn't dealt with Snow sleeping with Whale when they were still cursed.
Neither of them, however, had spoken to Emma about how closed off they felt she was. Emma had been avoiding them, and they knew it. But they weren't letting that go on forever. They couldn't. It wouldn't be healthy for their relationship. So they waited a few days until they felt Emma was ready to speak with them about what was said. Even then, they knew she wasn't going to be entirely open about how she felt.
"Emma." Charming began as he and Snow came into the living room together hand in hand, a united front. Emma looked up to them. She had known this was coming at some point. "Can we talk for a minute?"
"Sure." Emma said, curling up on the couch and clutching a pillow to her chest. Snow and Charming came in and sat together on the couch beside her.
"Emma, we know what was said under the curse was…unpleasant." Snow said, trying to find the right words. "We won't do you the discourtesy of saying it was all a lie, seeing as you know that can't be true. However, what we will say is that although as your parents we would love it if you were ever able to open up to us more, we would never want to push you into doing that until you feel ready. We promise to be patient. We promise to be the parents you need, not the parents we think you should have. Your needs always come first. You can believe that, Emma." Snow promised her daughter. Emma nodded, not looking at either of her parents. So Snow and Charming took the hint and gave Emma some space to digest what she had just been told. They knew she would come around again eventually. It was all about giving her the right amount of time.
