1 Piece travel fic

(A/N: I own nothing and I have plenty of stories where the whole crew Time Travel or at least two people in the crew do…so now I'm trying my hand at a story where Luffy is the only one to time travel! AU OOC probably some bashing and it's a definite Luffy/Robin pairing)

Even as she was relaxing slightly at the restaurant ship, the Baratie she believed? Something close to that at least, Nico Robin was still acutely aware of her surroundings. Even in a sea known as the Weakest, there would always been someone who might recognize her and try to take her in for her bounty.

That and she was technically here on a bit of business as well. She had heard rumors of a young man who had defeated Buggy the Clown with ease and without a single scratch despite him being the only noteworthy pirate in the East Blue that had a Devil Fruit. Something which had piqued her interest since the Bara-Bara fruit made it notoriously difficult to do actual damage to the clown. Once she had done a little bit of digging around she had noticed that the appearance of the man who had taken out Buggy also matched that of the man credited with utterly destroying Captain 'Axe-hand' Morgan of the Marines just a few days prior.

Those were no easy feats in and of themselves for a rookie, especially since in both incidents the rookie was said to not have suffered a single scratch or even broken a sweat. That's the entire reason she was in the East Blue to start with, a scouting and recruiting mission. If whoever had done that was so strong already then he was already a shoe-in for a numbers position in Baroque Works and a solid recruit like that would keep Crocodile off of her back for a while once she returned to Alabasta.

Right now she could tell that the one she wanted to recruit was here and she would very much not be able to recruit him after all. The way his three companions, one of which she recognized as someone they had tried to recruit before who ended up killing a numbered agent, walked in with him and the ship they had anchored outside after rather handily defeating that puffed up Marine told her that the boy had his eyes on becoming a Pirate Captain. He'd certainly refuse the position of a numbered agent if she offered it.

Looking up she gave a small amused smirk at the way the blond waiter was flirting with the feisty red head of the group. She watched the group as they interacted and was amused by how they were all acting…and then she looked at the captain.

His eyes met hers and she noticed how they widened and seemed shocked and full of some other emotion she couldn't identify before it was gone. She knew it wasn't lust though, she was used to that…it was something…different. Not greed, nor curiosity. There was a bit of recognition in his gaze but no malice or evil intentions that she could see.

So lost in her thoughts of what had been in his gaze she hadn't noticed him getting up and approaching her.

"Pardon me. Do you mind if I join you?" The voice was friendly and chipper and Robin could detect no ill intentions at all from him as she looked up at him.

"By all means." Robin said waving to the empty chair directly in front of her.

"Thank you, my name's Luffy by the way. So what did you think?" The boy asked smiling at her as he sat down.

"About?" Robin raised an eyebrow at him and wondering what he was asking about specifically. Himself or his crew. It also didn't fail to escape her that he noticed she hadn't given her own name but he didn't seem to mind.

"My crew. I saw you looking." Luffy said and it was clear that she had no way to claim that she hadn't noticed them. Especially not with the racket they were making.

"They're interesting." Robin said smiling slightly as she noticed the swordsman that had taken out one of their number agents fighting with the blond cook.

"Yeah they're the best." Luffy said with a small chuckle as he glanced at his crew as well, Zoro having ordered a large slab of meat for his captain.

"So what is a leading agent of Baroque Works doing out here in the East?" Luffy asked casually, almost as if he were talking about the weather and Robin's mind immediately went from relaxed and a bit amused to alarmed and ready to fight.

"Whatever do you mean Strawhat-san?" Robin asked smiling disarmingly at him and not letting any of her emotions show on her face other than perhaps a bit of bemusement.

"No need to try and play dumb with me when I know all about that organization and the guy who runs it from behind the scenes. Just like how you don't have to lie about who you are to me, Nico Robin." Luffy said smiling at her and making her eyes glint darkly as a bit of true hatred showed on her face.

"How do you know that name?" Robin hissed at him as she prepared to fight her way out of the restaurant if he had to.

"The same way I know all about the Organization you're working for and how you want the slab of rock, a Ponygliph or something like that?, under Alabasta thinking it contains the True History of the Void Century. The same way I know about how Crocodile wants some ancient weapon and plans to stab you in the back as soon as he either gets it or you are no longer useful to him." Luffy said and his voice was still casual, something that seemed to throw Robin off of her game.

"How?!" Robin demanded but kept her voice down just in case. She was confident in her abilities of course but it would be rather attention grabbing if she had to kill the whole restaurant to escape.

"Before I answer that…let me ask you what you know about Awakened Devil Fruits." Luffy asked and Robin blinked slightly at that, thrown by the question and the phrase.

"I've never heard of them before." Robin admitted although she continued to radiate hostility if she didn't get answers soon.

"I'm not surprised. The Marines and World Government want to keep that under wraps and makes sure there's absolutely no mention or information on them at all, not that it's hard mind you since it's pretty rare for someone to Awaken their Fruit." Luffy said and now her curiosity was poking at Robin and winning out over her ire and demand for how he knew about the Ponygliph and her dream of reading the True History.

"What are they?" Robin asked curious despite herself as she leaned in a bit.

"The dormant second stage of a Devil Fruit that all Devil Fruits possess. It's when the powers of the Devil Fruit go from unexplainable magic to reality warping impossibilities. There are only two ways to Awaken a Devil Fruit, the first is to completely master the Devil Fruit and its powers in all ways it can be used. The only two people I know of who's managed this are the Warlord Donflamingo and Charlotte Katakuri, who is the strongest warrior and son of the Yonko Big Mom." Luffy said and Robin was blown away by this new knowledge.

"And the other method?" Robin asked even as a small piece of her brain whispered that there shouldn't be any way for a rookie who's never even been out of East Blue to know this. She noticed however that his face became solemn and he seemed lost in his dark thoughts.

"Trauma. You'd need to experience so much pain and agonizing loss all at once that your mind nearly snaps. For most it actually does snap. Impel Down has four Awakened Zoan type users who are their guards but their minds never recovered and they're pretty much just wild beasts now." Luffy said and Robin was amazed at all this new information, it had so much potential! Honestly she had been surprised that if he were telling the truth her own Devil Fruit hadn't Awakened during the Buster Call. Perhaps it had been because she had been so young at the time and her mind wasn't fully matured yet?

"How do you know all of this?" Robin asked staring at the man's face that was showing so much raw pain she knew it couldn't be fake.

"Because that's how mine Awakened. They all died…My crew, my family…the woman I was going to spend the rest of my life with and our unborn baby." Luffy said and there were tears in his eyes now.

"But you're so young!" Robin was stunned to hear this, the boy couldn't be older than 18! Maybe not even that old!

"I ate the Gomu-Gomu No Mi. The ability of rubber, to stretch and contract. When I was at the darkest place and my Fruit Awakened I…I'm not sure what exactly it was I did. I know I latched onto something, anything and then…I'm not sure if I stretched myself across time or just contract time and slingshot myself back through it. All I know is that one moment I was alone in the New World and the next I'm waking up from the nightmare back here in East Blue in my 14 year old body." Luffy said wiping the tears away with the palm of his hand.

"You…time-traveled?" Robin whispered in disbelief as she released a breath she hadn't known she was holding.

"Yeah…for three years I waited and trained to sail out to sea and see my family again. Some days the temptation was almost too much and I had to hide away from the ocean in the jungle. If I was the younger more headstrong version who had originally sailed out to sea, I wouldn't have lasted a week before I left…but my queen had drilled it into me to always think things through or at least have a plan. If I changed things too much then it would change the future in ways I can't predict. So I did my best to make sure everything played out pretty close to how it did last time." Luffy said and he looked down at the glass in his hands, swirling the wine a bit. He didn't like drinking it a lot but an occasional glass here or there? He could do that.

"Why…Why are you telling me all of this?" Robin asked although she already had a feeling she knew why.

"Because you're the first thing I'm going to change. The moment I saw you here…I knew I'd have to tell you. I've never been able to keep anything a secret from you Robin." Luffy said and Robin noted the distinct lack of an honorific.

"We knew each other." It wasn't a question but it sounded kind of like one as she stared at him. She knew he must have known her after all he wouldn't have approached her and known about the True History if he didn't.

"Yeah…I know you better than I do anyone else, better than I even know myself sometimes." Luffy said with a wet but happy laugh.

"I know about Ohara, Professor Clover, your mom, the Tree, Admiral Akoji, the Buster Call, CP9, your dream to read the True History and how you wear that cowboy hat cause it reminds you of Saul…" Luffy began to list everything while Robin sat there pale and stone faced as he stated everything in her life in intimate detail.

"I know you got that bounty on your head cause you survived thanks to Saul, I know that you're currently working under Crocodile using the alias Ms. All-Sunday to overthrow the kingdom of Alabasta and that you hate every moment of it. I know that people have been letting you down your entire life, betraying you, selling you our and destroying your faith in people and belief in their goodness one piece at a time…"

Robin had tears in her eyes now and her lips were wobbling as she felt her emotional barriers begin to crumble apart but Luffy still kept talking.

"I know that when you're reading a good book your two favorite things to go with it are coffee and a slice of lemon cake. I know that you're ticklish behind your knees and shoulder blades. I know that you have a birth mark on your left thigh that annoys you. I know that you hope to have a baby girl of your own one day who you can teach to read the ancient language, and I know that sometimes you dream of reading her bed time stories and doing everything for her that you never got to experience as a child. I know that if you have a son you want to name him Saul, and if you have the daughter you dream about you want to name her Olivia after your mom."

By this point there were tears flowing freely down her face and she had one hand over her mouth to keep her sobs somewhat quiet and under control.

"I know all of that just like how I know right now you're frantically wondering just how I could know all of this without believing that I really did Time travel." Luffy was staring her in the eyes, like he had the entire time as he listed off everything he knew about her and then he gave her a soft watery smile.

"I know it's probably asking a lot but…please…just one last time…take a leap of faith in someone else…and believe me." Here Luffy held out his hand with the palm up on the table as he looked at her hopefully.

"You're the love of my life Robin and nothing will ever change that…so…what do you say? Want to join my crew?" Luffy asked and Robin managed to get out a laugh through her happy tears. Someone loved her…someone had loved her enough to time travel for her and immediately tell her the truth and have enough proof to back it up.

She knew without a shadow of a doubt that he was telling the truth about everything and that when he spoke of the woman he had been going to spend the rest of his life with, he had been talking about her. When he spoke about his queen he meant her. When he mentioned that he had lost the woman he loved and their unborn child he had meant her and their unborn baby.

"I'd like that…" Robin said placing her hand on his and the way his entire face lit up and he beamed so brightly at her…it was enough to almost blind her.

"I'm glad…after all what's a Pirate King without his Queen?"
