Her hair

A guest asked for a oneshot of Snow asking Regina why she cut her hair off after the curse broke. Set after Snow and Emma return from the Enchanted Forest in season 2.

Twenty eight years really had been too long. Sure, they had their time as Mary Margaret and David Nolan while they were cursed, but that didn't count. Not really. As Snow and Charming they knew so much more about each other. About each other's bodies. About what each other liked. So as they were finally reunited, it was time to make good use of that knowledge.

Charming kissed his way down Snow's jawline. As he did, he instinctively reached up her back to tangle his fingers in her raven black hair. Instead, he found her bare back.

"What's the matter?" Snow whispered breathlessly against him.

"Nothing." Charming responded. "It's just…your hair. That'll take some getting used to." He commented. Snow shrugged it off. At the end of the day, she knew Charming didn't care what length her hair was, but it did leave a curious question. Why had Regina bothered to chop it off?

Later at the welcome home party

Regina could feel Snow staring at her. She was trying so hard to be 'good'. It didn't help when she had people breathing down her neck. Regina placed down the knife she had been using to cut up her lasagne. She turned around and walked towards Snow.

"You don't need to watch me every second, dear." She said coldly. "As much as I'd love to use that irritating little goblin for a darts board, I did promise Henry I'd be on my best behaviour."

"He's a dwarf, not a goblin." Snow corrected her stepmother. "And I'm not watching you. I know you're trying. I just…have a question." Regina raised an eyebrow.

"Well it's a bit late to ask for that motherly advice, seeing as you've had a baby." Regina responded dryly. Snow rolled her eyes and ignored Regina's sarcasm.

"I want to know why you decided to have Mary Margaret have short hair." Snow said. "What was so important about changing my hair length?" Regina shrugged. It didn't really matter now. Looking back, it had been pretty petty, even for her. But like Hell would she admit that to Snow.

"You know the silly little rhyme they said about you." Regina reminded her stepdaughter. Snow blushed slightly. She didn't approve of the admiration the people of the Enchanted Forest had given her. "I couldn't really change any of the colouring, that would be too strange. But I could take most of it away. I didn't want to make you bald. Even I thought that would be too cruel. I think we both know the main punishment I inflicted on you was losing your beloved Charming and Emma. You had lost everything and I had everything to gain. That's it, Snow. There's no deep, philosophical meaning." Snow nodded, walking back towards Charming, who had been watching the interaction surreptitiously.

"Everything ok?" He asked. Snow nodded.

"You just reminded me last night to ask her about my hair." Snow explained as she reached up and kissed his cheek.

"Oh." Charming said. He didn't ask why, Snow would tell him in her own time.
