How many children- part 2

A guest asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch2031 "How many children" where Emma is still upset when she goes home to Killian. He calls Snow to talk to her.

"Does it really matter that much, love?" Killian asked as Emma lay in bed beside him. She had explained the situation with her mother to him, and it was clear it was still affecting her. "Besides, you said yourself that she apologised." He pointed out.

"That's not the point." Emma mumbled into her pillow, facing the wall. "It's the principle of the matter, Killian. I mean, sure, she apologised. And she corrected herself at some point to tell the woman about me, but does she really need some kind of reminder to know that she has three children? Do I matter that little to her?"

"Of course you don't love." Killian tried to soothe her. "We both know that both of your parents love you very much." Emma sighed.

"So you say." She said quietly. Killian didn't know what else to say to her. She was clearly still hurting over this, but nothing he was telling her was getting through. There was only one person right now that could make an impact.

"I'll be back in a moment love." He said, getting up from their bed. Emma didn't respond as her husband left the room. Killian went downstairs and picked up the phone, punching in Snow and Charming's number.

Emma didn't move when she heard Killian coming back into the room. That was until she saw the phone he held out to her.

"It's for you, love." He told her. Emma sat up and looked at him curiously. He just shrugged. Sighing, Emma held the phone up to her ear.

"Hello?" She asked.

"It's me." Emma gave Killian a dirty look. He just grinned back. Emma had to talk to her mom about this at some point. "Killian said you were still upset about earlier."

"It's fine." Emma snapped. "I don't know why he called you so late."

"It's clearly not fine though, Emma." Snow pointed out. "Not if you're still upset."

"Well how else am I meant to feel?" Emma answered her. "I'm the only one of your kids you didn't raise, and then I hear you say you only have two kids? Whether it was a slip of the tongue or not mom, it still hurts." Emma explained. Snow wished she could go back in time and take back what she said. She felt so stupid.

"I understand that Emma." Snow said sincerely. "But I need you to know that you matter as much as Neal and Rosie. You are my firstborn. My hope. My green eyed girl. Have you never noticed that? You're the only one who got my eyes. You're my girl, Emma. You always have been, and you always will be. You can bet what I said today is not a mistake I'll ever be making again. Ok?"

"Ok." Emma responded, still quietly, but both Killian and Snow could hear that she was sounding at least a little more upbeat.

"Good. Then get some sleep. I love you, sweetheart."

"I love you too, mom." Emma responded before she hung up, a sign things were behind her. She handed the phone back to Killian and fixed him with a look. "That was sneaky." She told him.

"Maybe, but it worked." Killian pointed out. Emma just rolled her eyes. She couldn't really respond to that. He was right.
