Still spinning
IwKa asked for a oneshot after arresting Hyde, Charming, Emma and Killian are escorting him to the station in the cruiser. One of his minions attacks the car to save Hyde. Snow and Regina find Charming, Emma and Killian injured.
Emma couldn't hear anything outside of the ringing in her ears and her own rapid breathing. It had all happened so fast. One second they were driving to the station, the next, here they were in the wreck that had been the cruiser.
Charming had seen them coming. He was driving with Emma in the front passenger seat. Hyde was behind him with Killian behind Emma. Charming saw the car suddenly speeding right for the cruiser and knew what was happening, but that he was powerless to stop it. All Charming could do was keep Emma as far out of harm's way as possible. So he quickly spun the car around, and ended up taking the brunt of the crash himself.
Now here they were in the hospital. Emma had broken her arm and Killian had a few broken ribs. Both also had a few scrapes and bruises, but otherwise, were ok. Neither had seen Charming. They weren't allowed to. Whenever either asked about him to the doctors or nurses tending to them, they were just told to focus on themselves first. It was beyond frustrating.
Emma was about to try and ask again when the curtains around her bed flew open and her mom came in.
"Mom!" Emma said, relieved. The nurse tending to Emma, wasn't so impressed.
"I'm sorry, ma'am, but you really shouldn't be in here right now…"
"I'm her mother. Try and stop me." Snow responded curtly. She ignored the nurse's cold looks as she came over to Emma. She placed her hand on Emma's cheek.
"I've been so worried." Snow said. "From what I've gathered you and Killian will both allowed home in the next couple of days. You ok?" Emma nodded.
"What about dad?" She asked. Snow tried not to show her fear here.
"Regina's in the waiting room filling out the rest of his paperwork for me so I could come check on you. He's going to be ok too, sweetie." Emma flinched at this. Just those few extra words made all the difference. He's going to be ok. Emma knew that meant her dad was in a rough state right now.
"Mom, be honest with me." Emma croaked. "What's wrong with dad?" Snow swallowed a lump in her throat. Emma didn't need this right now, but there was no hiding it from her now.
"Em, he hurt his head in the collision. The doctors are working on him now to make him stable." Snow took Emma's hand, seeing the panic in her eyes. "But he really will be ok Em. You have to believe me on that."
"It's my fault." Emma said, her head beginning to spin. "He spun the car around so they didn't hit me. It's my fault he's critical right now…"
"Emma." Snow said firmly, knowing Emma had to snap out of this. She took Emma's face in her hands. "This is not your fault. This is Hyde and his little minions' fault. They crashed into the cruiser, not you. Your dad did this for you just like you would for Henry. He's strong, Emma. He'll pull through this. Just you wait and see. It's all going to be ok…"
"I really must insist you leave now." The nurse said, putting his foot down. "You're distressing my patient and I need to finish off her vitals. Please." Snow gave him such a glare that it made the hairs on the back of Emma's neck stand on end. She looked back to Emma and kissed the top of her head.
"I'll be in the hospital somewhere. Call me or Regina if you need anything. Don't worry, we'll be with you straight away. Whenever it is." Snow said, more as a warning to the nurse than anything else. Snow then left, leaving Emma with her head still spinning.
