What better way to reign in the new year than a new chapter?

New chapter to unweave the adventures of Spider-Linc after our young hero fought and defeated his first legitimate supervillain, the menacing Vulture. In the past, I wasn't really that much of a comic book reader, I had tv shows, games, and movies but since I began making fanfics of stuff from comics, I've done some light reading to look for material I could use that cartoons couldn't and let me tell you, there is a lot to touch up on. Part of me really wants to see some of the stuff I've read be adapted either as a cartoon, animated or live action film, video game, and so on. Plenty enough Spider-Man stories I'd sure like to adapt into my story, I can tell you that much, not all of them, but the ones that resonate to me the most.

Also, let me address a really important matter.

Last year, in August, us Marvel fans were saddened when the news came of Chadwick Boseman's untimely death after his four year long battle with colon cancer. Even to this day, I still can't believe he's gone and I had no idea he had cancer either, he always looked so strong and invincible in his Black Panther role, just really caught me off guard.

Last time I was this saddened was when Stan Lee passed.

With that said: Wakanada Forever.

Not a day ever went by where Curt Connors longed for the times when he still had a right forearms, the days where could feel anything he came in contact with both hands. Days where he wouldn't have to rely on an artificial arm for when he's in his laboratory at Tetherby Corp and he could hold his young son in both arms once more. Before signing on with Tetherby, Connors was a gifted surgeon who enlisted in the army to act as medical aid to wounded soldiers, until the day came when an accident left his right arm amputated and was medically discharged back home to his family who were horrified by what he lost, but as much as they assured him that they still loved him, Connors was never really able to get over his loss. Without his arm, he felt incomplete and couldn't perform operations.

But then came Anthony Tetherby.

The man made it a point to keep track of all promising talent in all fields and hearing the impressive work of Curt Connors drew his attention and offered to give his life a new calling by working under him at his company. With the new resources at his disposal, Connors managed to construct a detachable robotic prosthetic that's useful when he's in the lab. When he's at home, he has to recharge since it's still in the beta phase and even if it were fully charged, still didn't feel quite the same as it once was.

Which was why after accepting Tetherby's request, he went straight to work with other fields, surgery was just one of his many talents, Connors was a man who was quite informative of other fields of science. He's worked on many projects with fellow colleagues, trying to break the boundaries to make life easier for mankind, especially for people like him.

Although, he quickly realized that while his boss seemed cordial when he first met him, that was just a front, a mask he used in order to sway people to his side, no questions asked.

Since then, Connors has had to deal with him making rather unreasonable decisions when it comes to initiatives and special projects being done at his building. In his mind, since it's his money being used to fund them, then he has as much claim to said project far above the people who made said projects possible.

It was evident enough of that after the whole Vulture fiasco a few days back.

He didn't know Adrian Thoomes personally besides being fellow workers, but he had a feeling that Tetherby pulled something that greatly inconvenienced the man enough to don a flying suit for an attempt on his life.

It was fortunate that Spider-Man character managed to stop the menace of the Vulture for who knows how much more damage the man could've done beyond killing his former boss.

Still, it wasn't hard for Connors to understand why Vulture would do it, he just wished a less violent approach would've been used instead.

No sense in reminiscing, though.

For scientists like him, the future should be paramount.

"Hey, Doctor Connors." he looks up from his clipboard. He was scheduled to be in the lab for today located near the community college. With him was a college student who's been working as an engineer at the lab. Maxwell Dillon, your average one of the mill young man, willing to work to gain some extra college credits, he's even willing to work on campus.

"Ah. Max. On time as always." Dr. Connors thought well of him, an affinity for responsibility and hard work most people his age aren't known for. "Is the generator working up to standards? That insulation software can be tricky sometimes and of course there's the electrical energy output that can certainly be problematic."

"See for yourself, Doc." Max led him to the main electrical generator that powers up the lab for beyond a mere twenty four hours, the young man excelled in bioengineering classes that he took, making him the perfect man for the job. The generator that powered the lab was paid for and supplied by Tetherby Corp, high concentrations of electricity made it functional. The source was however, very unorthodox.

"Hard to believe we have those eels you keep in those water tanks to thank for enough power for over two night shifts." Max remarks.

"Helps that they're genetically altered." Connors added. "That's the beauty of it, Max. What we see here is a prime example of what can be accomplished when harnessing the forces of nature for the betterment of society. An entire alternative form of energy that could solve so much problems pertaining to the energy crisis. The amount of energy within this generator " The brilliant mind looked to the lab where the eels were kept. "We should be thankful to the fluid inside, the more it increases the biolectric signatures, the more the generator stays on. Quite impressive, for a prototype. Although, with how powerful those signatures become, we're forced to upgrade the lab's bio-electrical filters."

Max snorted at that. "We're forced to?" Funny, Max can't seem to recall the doctor or anyone else assisting him with doing just that.

Rolling his eyes, Connors humorously corrected himself, knowing full well of all the work the college student puts into keeping it powered up. "Alright. You're forced to upgrade by us. Pardon my mistake."

Chuckling, Max does a check up on the filters with his tools. "Getting pretty late. Thought you'd be home by now."

"What?" Connors checked his watch. By now, his son is already in bed while his wife is most likely waiting for him to come home. "I didn't even realize I've been away this long."

"Better get a move on, then. Can't say I'd ever want to see an angry Mrs. Connors." Max joked.

"Take my word for it, you do not. I just to get some samples." Connors went to a habitat housing lizards where plugged tube containers of a green concoction were placed. He placed these samples into his briefcase, these were important to his work and he couldn't risk them being lost after the sleepless nights he's put into them. "I hope it's not too much trouble to ask you finish up with me gone."

"It's fine, doc. I got enough time to meet up with Francine and Hugh." Seeing the good doctor leave, Max Dillon went back to making sure the filters were close to being secure, he didn't even want to think about what could happen if something went wrong, he doesn't need to be a scientist like Connors to know it could spell bad. He hears the door opening and assumes that the doc came back because he forgot one other thing, but it wasn't Connors, it what looked like another engineer. "Hey, man. I'll take over from here."

"Who are you?" Max asked, quizzically.

"New guy to handle the night shift." he shows a clipboard that included a notice that had the signature of the Dean on it. "It's a last minute kind of thing. Just started today."

"Huh. Surprised the doc didn't hear about this." Max scratched his head. "He's been cooped up in this lab all day, must've slipped his mind. Alright, then. Guess I can leave things to you." On the plus side, this does give him more time to get ready to meet up with his college friends, at the rate he was going, he'd be late.

The new engineer accepted the job heartedly. "Sure thing." Max Dillon leaves the lab with his stuff to leave the new guy to it.

He had set down the box full of tools to allow the newcomer to get on it. After Max shut the door and made his leave, the new guy picked up a power drill and went to the electric filters. This was some pretty fancy piece of technology, too complicated for your average engineer, but not for him, he was informed of its inner workings and complexities. With that all in mind, the engineer knew exactly what to do or not do...made it all the more useful for him to do what he shouldn't do. Kneeling on one leg, the engineer used the drill in reverse, and setting the generator to amp up on more power than what was required, and promptly gathers his tools and leaves the lab.

"Sir, it's been done." he spoke into his cell phone to his employer who spoke in a distorted voice.

"Excellent. Be sure to inform me when the...unfortunate circumstances occur. I wish to be the first on the scene."

"Yes, sir."

He made sure to make himself seem scarce when he saw Max meet up with two friends. One was a male his age with a light pink sweater and a sole female with them. "So, Max. How goes it at the lab?" the young man asked with a thick British accent and looks that would sway most women, save for their sole female companion.

"About as the same as it goes. No offense to the Doc, but whatever he goes on there must be important enough for him to go home late, Hugh."

"The pay sure isn't something to complain about, right?" their female friend asked.

"Amen to that, Francine." Max chuckled. "I tell ya, I thought I was forced to drop out when I couldn't make enough cash to pay for tuition but then that lab opened up here and were in need of an engineer, I'd have to have been an idiot to let that chance slip past me. Though, I guess I should be sorry that it took away so much time I could've used hanging out with you guys."

Hugh patted his friend on the shoulder. "No worries, mate. I myself am a little guilty of that as well. Those tutoring sessions with the younglings can be quite lengthy."

Francine snorted. "Yeah, we kind of figured. Don't most of those kids you tutor have siblings, specifically sisters? Like that kid in orange with the white hair. Heard you had to run away from all his sisters."

Hugh cleared his throat, that ordeal was too much even for him to bare. "Well, what can I say? I suppose ladies can't help but take a fancy to me, I suppose. It's not like I want them to."

"And yet, that always manages to happen." Max chuckled. "It's a miracle Francine here never went gaga over you."

"Ha! No offense, Hugh. But, you're not really my type." Francine chuckles, with a playful nudge and briefly sneaks a meaningful look to Max and lightly blushes as she looks away.

Hugh notices this and wryly smiles, getting an idea. "I suppose that's for the best, Franny, old girl. After all, we wouldn't want your secret crush to get jealous, right?" Francine gasped and glared annoyingly at Hugh ad Max obliviously walked away with his friends following. They pass by the lab where the lights were still on, unaware of the eerie humming being let out by the generator or the dangerous electric flashes inside it. An ominous sign of a terrible fate to occur.

Lincoln's got the bare essentials when being a superhero.

He's got the super-suit.

Superpowers (Although, this wasn't a necessary requirement, but it would help.)

Fought his first supervillain.

Goes on patrols.

The aftermath of his fight with Vulture made him realize that even though he has powers, they shouldn't be his sole reliance when out on the field. They can only get him so far. Making that Spider-tracer from the tracking device on his person, curtesy of Lisa, led him to Vulture and stop him from continuing his crusade of revenge. Having more useful gadgets would definitely help out more, he's already made a few extra spider tracers and packed as many as needed into his suit's pockets.

Lot of ideas were going through his head and he needed to work those concepts out through illustrations inside his notebook, before he could even begin the process of making them, he needed to first draw his thoughts out. 'Maybe now is the right time to think about making some alterations to my web-shooters, they are pretty clunky and I can maybe trim down a bit, making it quicker to put them on.' On the topic of the web-shooters, he toyed with the idea of them shooting out more than just webs. 'Web grenade? Fill a ton of web fluid in one container, set a timer, and the bad guys get instantly trapped! Ooh! Now this is a good one! Web wings. I can spring them up on my suit under the pits, I'd be a flying Spider-Man!"

Speaking of his suit, it was hanging off his chair and he took note of the burn marks on the arms. "Side note: Maybe make the suit out of stuff that won't be scorched by the electricity from my Venom Blasts."

All this brainstorming was making him hungry, so he took a bit out of a Lynn-sagna...which was the fourth one he had his father make. Besides the spider powers, another effect from the bite made him a lot more hungry than he normally is. He's so far learned to keep it in check for the most part, but there are times where he becomes a bottomless pit.

Like now, for instance.

Hopefully, this'll be the last tone. He hurried down to the kitchen where most of his family were and Lynn Sr. along with Rita were washing the dishes after dinner was over. "Hey, dad. Think you could whip up another Lynn-sagna?"

"Another one?" Lynn Sr. questioned. "Wow, son. I know my cooking's top notch in this house, but you sure want to eat that many? Pretty sure it's almost time for sleep."

"Had a light lunch. Plus, I'm doing some..." Lincoln thought of an excuse. "...last minute homework! Need enough energy to finish it."

"Well, you're lucky Lana didn't finish hers. We should really talk to her about eating gum off the sidewalk." Lynn Sr. said, handing the last food for tonight and Lincoln swiftly took it back to his bedroom.

The sisters who were in the living room heard this exchange. "Huh. Baby bro usually gets homework done as soon as he gets home." Luna muses before realizing something. "In fact, did anyone see him coming home? I was in my room."

"Lucy, didn't he come home with you, the twins, and Lisa?" Luan asked.

"Actually, he told us to go on without him. Said he had plans somewhere else." Lucy couldn't hide her curiosity that day. "It was quite enigmatic of him. Rather uncharacteristic, I must say." she said as she raised the volume on the TV.

"In other news, it's been reported that T'Challa, newly crowned king of the African nation of Wakanda has announced plans to go before the United Nations. This contradicts the nation's longstanding history of self isolation from the rest of the world. This surprising decision came after the unfortunate death of the previous monarch, king T'Chaka. Whatever the case may be, the new king is expected to arrive the following week. Following that, another sighting of the mysterious figure clad in black with the motif of a panther has been reported by tourists returning from Africa. Connection? More on this later."

"Hey, when that switches over to something Spidey related, tell me!" Lynn called from upstairs.

Lori gave an amused snort, leaning on her doorway. "So, that's all it takes to make you watch the news? A kid in red and blue tights?"

"Hey, watch it, Lori." Lynn warned. "Not his fault people find him more interesting than those posts on your phone. I bet he's someone on my school's sports teams. Must have a huge power up in the strength department."

"Aren't most of those guys in middle school?" Lincoln pointed out, taking a moment to stop after Lynn made her announcement. "Call me crazy, but I think he might be an elementary school student." It wasn't a good idea to say this, but a small part of Lincoln really wanted info about his superhero persona to be a bit more accurate than the rumors that came about after his debut.

"Ah, what do you know, Stinkoln?" Lynn snapped, kicking a soccer ball his way. Spider-Senses kicked in and he tossed his Lynn-sagna up high before kicking the ball back at Lynn which hits her to the floor and he catches his food with a wince.

"Uh, sorry, Lynn!" Lincoln retreated, hoping to not incur more of her anger.

Lynn sat up with surprise. "Woah, that was pretty slick of Lincoln." A grin grew on her face. "Guess those workouts I help him out with are finally paying off."

"Don't you force him to do those things?" Leni inquired. "But if it is helping, then it looks like Linky may just become way stronger than you. He's growing up so fast." she cooed.

The sporty sister's initial smile of pride devolved into a pout. "Well, I wouldn't go that far."

Back in his room, Lincoln went back to the brainstorming while munching.

He could go on like this all night.

And so, he did.

He worked and worked until he eventually dozed off into sleep and barely had time to eat breakfast when he realized he missed his newly bought alarm clock ringing. Despite Leni's insistence that the orange polo shirt was not doing him any favors, he likes to stick with his unique style, it also had its surprising advantages such as stopping the bus just as he misses it, he sometimes wonder if the driver mistook him for a traffic cone. Unfortunately, his troubles didn'e end there.

The long night he spent mostly awake made him exhausted and it wasn't even the end of the day just yet. "Yo, Linc. Get up, buddy!" Lincoln's head got up as he sat with his friends in the cafeteria. "Rusty was about to swipe your lunch." Liam told him.

"What? No, I wasn't." Rusty denied doing any of the sort, despite reaching his hand to snag his friend's lunch bag away.

"Come on, man. Don't go stealing another man's grub. Back at the farm, that's liable for some grounding." Liam advised him.

"Like any of you guys wouldn't jump at the chance to score some of Mr. Loud's grub." Rusty retorted. "All my mom packed for me was healthy carrot sticks. Rocky ended up getting all the good stuff."

"Did you pull another all nighter, buddy?" Clyde asks. "You missed out on another online campaign."

"Yeah. I forgot to do some homework. That's all."

At some point, he'll have to discard the late homework excuse.

"Hey, by the way. You guys have gotta check this out." Zach placed a laptop on the cafeteria table and brought up a video that was recorded by an onlooker which showcased Spider-Man swinging by while using a web to pull a child out harm's way when she almost wandered into the street where a car nearly hit her. Then there was another that showed him swinging ahead of a runaway minivan that almost made a collision course with a public bus by stopping it in its tracks with his hands and jumped off onto the nearest building to run along it. "More videos of Spider-Man. He's been trending all over town more than the newest VR game system that came out last year."

"Has anyone here actually managed to meet him?" Clyde asked a question that's been on his mind. "He's been spotted all around town and we know it like the back of our hands. Did no one even manage to talk to him?"

"N-Nope. Can't say I ever manage to even see him swing by." Lincoln apologized, feigning regret. "To be fair, he's probably busy fighting crime, not sure if he can make time to stop and say hello to just about anybody."

"They'd probably wouldn't mind if he did just that." Liam points to a table where female students who had accessories inspired by Spider-Man's design.

"Spidey's cool and all, but any guy can do a flip and look cool doing it." Not wanting to one upped in attracting girls, Rusty stood on the chair and did a backflip...right into Principal Huggins.

"Spokes." He growls in anger making Rusty grimace.

Lincoln shakes his head at his friend's antics, he wasn't lying.

He had a lot on his plate as Spider-Man and there was no way he could focus on anything else.

"By the way, Linc, did you set up the presentation?"

Except that.

"...Huh?"

"Don't play dumb, Lincoln. Remember that group project Mrs. Johnson gave us on world history? We agreed to do an online presentation on the history of the dairy industry." Liam reminded him. "We all sent you our notes and you said you'd put it all together like an orderly cow herd, ready to get milked."

"I did? I did!" It had completely slipped Lincoln's mind and upon realizing his error, tried saving face. "It's backed up back home, ready for presenting!" he assures them, though inside, he was panicking.

'Stupid! Stupid! STUPID!'

Lincoln mentally chastised himself as he looks through his laptop. He placed all his attention on Spider-Man so much that everything else took a backseat and now, at the vert last minute, he has to complete the group project all by himself and with such a short timeframe at that. He couldn't do it at home since then he'll have to explain to everyone-namely the parents-why he didn't complete it last night even though that what he said he was doing and that was a can of worms he wasn't willing to open. So, he chose Gus' Games and Grub as where he would at least begin to finish up, otherwise, he'll not only get himself a failing grade, but his friends too.

"What's up, loser?" Ronnie Anne asked from an arcade game she was playing. "Too scared to play against me?"

"Not now, Ronnie Anne. Little busy here." He found all the info his friends sent to him via email and got the basic ideas down, putting it all in order which required a lot of time.

"Can't believe you're finishing a project at the very last minute." Ronnie Anne lightly admonished with a joking tone. "What happened the huge dork that always does his homework as soon as he gets it?"

"I got sidetracked. Can't believe I actually forgot." Lincoln always made it a point to be the guy who archives every little thing inside his brain, it's what he feels he had to learn to not snap from the stress of living in a big family. A stable mind requires something to do, something to focus on, so he makes sure not to be too distracted. With every task given to him, he gives it his utmost attention and makes sure that there are no distractions, it might be going a bit overboard, but's it's his own process.

In his defense, it's not like he had the foresight to prepare for him becoming a superhero.

This just came out of the blue, and as much as he's ashamed to admit it, he was completely unprepared.

His friend rolls her eyes at his panicked behavior, but nonetheless feels that odd sense of sympathy whenever she sees him in such a bind. Ronnie Anne's not a completely heartless person, she's just been finding it hard not to be so rough most of the time. Lincoln just so happened to be one of the exceptions on account that he's her best friend, more than that, he's like her only friend.

'Heh. Must be why I like him so much.' Ronnie Anne chuckles to herself before retracting. 'A-As a friend! Th-That's all!' Clearing her throat, Ronnie Anne abandons her game and takes a spot next to Lincoln. "It's more fun here when I own you at the games and the quicker you get this done, the quicker that can happen."

Lincoln blinks in surprise. "You'd help me?"

"I prefer it more when you're not a sad sack, alright?" Ronnie Anne tells him, not wanting him to get any ideas.

He slowly smiles, she was putting up a front, but he knew better.

Just then, the lights in the arcade bean fade a bit, as did his laptop since its charger was hooked on an available outlet. "What the heck?" Lincoln asks in wariness as he and Ronnie Anne noticed it happening elswhere.

It was faint, but his spider-sense was starting to tingle.

But to what danger?

Around that time at Royal Woods Community College, Dr. Connors was present there once more to observe and detail the electric eels for his usual notes and to report to Tetherby on the gradual success of the generator. The boss man himself may only care that the more it works, more potential buyers for more generators come in, but the success gives the college more funding and so, it was one of the few business transactions he actually approves of and the company of Max certainly doesn't hurt. He types down on the computer as the doors open and came the ever reliable engineer who lets out a tired yawn. "Hey there, doc."

"Good afternoon, Max. Pardon my bluntness, but you seem like you had just woken up."

Chuckling bashfully, Max goes over to the generator in and began his crucial work on the generator. "Spent the night on the town with some friends of mine. Might have been way too long. Almost missed my first class."

"I hope you're well rested enough to work."

"Wouldn't have came here if I wasn't."

With the greetings out of the way, Max continued working while Connors took this chance to retreat into his private office, where he does some more private work, the kind that he often did in his lab in the main company building. Even though, he wasn't currently there, the scientist still has a need to check up on his work there.

On his table was his personal laptop, locked with a passcode only he knew and thus, he's the only one who could access it. After unlocking it, he brought his more private files, an experiment that he's been working on for many a long night that not even his wife was privy to. On the screen was a simulated mouse test subject with a missing limb. Its entire DNA structure was displayed out and next to it was a lizard with it's own DNA, he ran the simulation that's been repeating for months now. As with before, a sample of the lizard's DNA was taken and spliced with the mouse's, the process caused its missing limb to begin regenerating at an alarming rate. Connors watched in anticipation as it almost seems like this simulation will result in a success, but that did not come to be, the heart rate of the mouse started to accelerate and the regeneration process became unstable. The virtual mouse stopped moving and dropped down.

"Damn!" Connors slammed a metal fist on his table. "Another failure." Rubbing his eyes, he stands up and faces the board of equations. He's gone through several simulated experiments like this one and each one ended the same way. Before he could even begin human testing, he needed to test it in a computer generated setting. He just doesn't know know what he keeps doing wrong, he's isolated the genomes, made sure that all factors were compatible, but crossing the genetic of these species just looked to be a futile effort. If these failures continue to mount, then his superior will be further disappointed with the lack of results and there goes the funding for his research. But he couldn't let that happen, so much was riding on this, he absolutely needs to pull through with promising results.

He grips his prosthetic arm.

The success of his research could benefit the lives of people like him.

Perhaps even beyond that.

But, this was just much too difficult to solve alone. At times like this, he'd turn to colleagues but this has been a solo project so far and he wasn't sure if anyone else at the company would be willing to help, he didn't know anyone there at a personal level. Although, there were a few esteemed colleagues he's met over the years and one of them just so happens to live in this city. "Lisa..."

Perhaps the most brightest mind he ever had the pleasure of meeting.

She was only a phone call away, too.

But, the lights in his office dimming distracted him and then came Max's panicked yell.

"Doc!"

Connors ran out and his eyes widen at the sight of the generator sending out sparks of electricity that made Max trip and fall. "Max! What's going on?!" he backs away as the generator continues going haywire.

"I-I don't know! I just started working and it just started getting out of control! Maybe I can do something!" Max reached for his drill which was on the generator.

The scientist reached his arm out. "Max, wait!"

It was too late. The second Max touched the drill, he screamed out as he was electrocuted by the currents, the dangerously high voltage flung him to the water tank, breaking the glass and spilling the electrified liquid. The water mixed with the eels' additional electricity made it worse for Max, turning up more electrical energy onto Max. The room lit up at the discharge of lightning. Doctor Connors shielded himself as he looked on in silent horror. The generator was connected to the college's power grid, which in turn, extended the city's, making the lights from across Royal Woods dim. The generator sent a massive wave of electricity that shut down the college's power and sent bolts that struck the buildings outside, scaring students that were out and about.

For Doctor Connors, he was trapped under what was left of a table, unconscious.

When the arcade began to power down, Lincoln and Ronnie Anne went outside and from their spot, they saw lightning bolts shoot up at the sky and the sounds of car alarms were heard. "Woah, the heck is going on?!" Ronnie Anne frantically asks and her phone rings. With her answering the call, Lincoln's drifted back to his backpack where he kept his suit. "Lincoln! My mom called, said to hightail it back home pronto! I could take you with me!"

He internally apologizes to her, but right now, he's needed elsewhere.

"I can find my own way back home, just go!"

"But-"

"I'll be fine!" Lincoln's fierce and determined expression softened to be more reassuring to her. "We'll be okay. Now let's go."

Still reluctant, Ronnie Anne ran off as police cars passed by him and he ran towards the danger, something most eleven-year-olds wouldn't do, but he wasn't like most kids his age. Not of all them had a red and blue suit inside their bags that they would take out and quickly change into or place their regular clothes. webs them to a wall and swings off.

The origin of the lightning was coming from the community college and it wasn't far, Spider-Man quickly arrived and saw many students and staff run out in a frenzy. Some were lying on the ground as their fellow students tried in vain to help, the young superhero went down and lifted some rubble that trapped two students underneath it. "Hey! I see a fire inside!"

A student pointed to smoke coming from an opened window, the electricity inside the building had shorted out, causing small fires in the many rooms inside. The police were on their way, but the fire department might not come in time. All entrances were used by the people to escape, so Spider-Man jumped up and swung inside where he saw the origin of the smoke was a locked room. "Whoever's inside! Stand back!" He pushed hard and the door broke off, allowing a crowd of people out while covering their coughing. It was complete hysteria at this college, no one here was prepared for the disaster that had unfolded here, that was for sure.

"Francine!" A familiar British voice called out desperately and Spider-Man sees none other than his old tutor, Hugh. He tried shaking his friend up, but she was unconscious on the floor, a bruise on her head, Spider-Man acted quickly and ran over to pick Francine up herself and ushered Hugh to follow him and sets Francine down gently and she coughs and only had enough strength to utter one name.

"Max..."

Hugh furrowed his brow. "Max?" He understood Francine's concern for him, but then he hypothesized what could've caused this mess in the first place and becomes alarmed. "The lab! There's a lab near the science wing! It's powered by this fancy generator, uses a lot of electricity! It's right next to us!"

With that useful information, Spider-Man swung out to search for this lab, his spider sense warned him of oncoming bolts of lightning that almost struck him and he made to the lab. The doors were broken off and he saw Doctor Connors still trapped, he freed him and helped the scientist up, his prosthetic arm damaged slightly. "What is happening?" Connors asked in a daze, then saw the costumed hero. "You?"

"Is there a guy named Max here?" Spider-Man asked.

He received his answer from a groan and saw Max Dillon on the ground, continuing to scream as electricity continued to blast off from his body and Spider-Man moved to help, but Connors stopped him. "Wait! Don't go near him, there's too much electricity coming off his body!"

"Then how can I-"

A shining light was seen outside and armed men in uniforms stormed the lab. "Clear the area!" The leader of these men ordered and Spider-Man raised his arms up when they trained their weapons on him.

"Woah! Hey! I didn't cause this!"

"Doctor Connors, are you alright?" one of them asked.

"Y-Yes. I'm sorry, but just who are you?"

"We're under orders from Mr. Tetherby." The leader looked to Max Dillon and grimaced. "Get a stretcher and inform Mr. Tetherby that we have a rather unfortunate situation. Doctor, do you know him?"

"He's the engineer that works here! He needs help now!"

The response to the disaster that transpired at Royal Woods Community College was met with panic and many questions as a lot of property damage and injuries were caused. Praise went to Spider-Man for his arrival and rescue of most of them, but a lot of attention came to Max Dillon as he was the worst off after the injuries he sustained, he was placed in a containment unit and was transported to a Tetherby building with the right equipment and experts needed to handle this kind of problem, Connors included among them. Knowing full well that the press wouldn't ignore this any longer, the man in charge himself gathered a press conference to give the official statement.

"It was a complete travesty. That much can be said." Anthony Tetherby says to the crowd of reporters and cameramen. "I am proud of the good work my new private security force did that night. After the Vulture, I felt I needed a proper response team to protect myself and the company's interests. Which brings me to this, it would seem that this was more than just a freak accident. Investigators have determined that the generator that my company graciously loaned to the college was tampered with which no doubt led to this debacle. Tetherby Corp. is willing to pay for all the damages, but that generator was top of the line and if it's concluded that it indeed was sabotage done by a student of the school, then it's only fair for my company to gain some measure of repayment. "

His entire announcement was aired on all news channels around the city, watched pretty much everywhere by anyone with a television screen or a smartphone.

Needless to say, it was met with negative reactions. The community college denied any accusation that one of their own purposely sabotaged as nothing in Max's history would indicate that he was a person capable of such an act. "This is complete garbage!" Francine shouted, bandages wrapped around her head.

She and Hugh were at the hospital, the latter visiting the former who was recovering from her injuries. But frankly, Francine would much rather see Max recover quickly and be given a chance to explain his side of things. Ever since what happened, they were kept in the dark about Max's condition or if he'll ever be allowed out. All they can do is wait and hope for the best, but it was hard with the gross accusations that were being flung into his proverbial face right now.

"It is rather bloody ridiculous." Hugh concurred. "We've known Maxwell since our high school days, he could never be capable of doing such a heinous thing. It's simply not in his nature. What does Tetherby hope to gain from saying that kind of slander?"

Francine snorted. "You know business types like him, Hugh. All they care about is making more money and nothing more. I've heard people talk while I've been here, you know. They're actually buying that stuff, some of them were even from school!" Her anger caused some discomfort in her head, making her hold it.

"Take it easy, Francine." The British tutor sooths his friend's ire. "Just focus on getting better."

"But-But what about Max?" Francine desperately asked. "You seriously haven't heard anything about him? Nothing at all?"

Sighing, Hugh shook his head. No one told them exactly when Max would be fit to be released, nor did they have any idea on his current condition, it was all speculative at this point and it was tormenting them inside. To think that things got so bad so quickly, it wasn't too long ago that they were just three college friends enjoying their young lives the best ways that they could and now this happens. No one was prepared for this, it left them feel utterly useless for their close friend. "Not much we can do for him right now, Franny. All we can do is hope for the best." At the same time, it's paramount to prepare for the worst as well.

"How are his vital signs?"

"Same as it's always been, Connors. Electricity is coursing throughout his entire body and because of that, our heart monitors have shorted out due to the huge amounts he's been generating since he was brought here."

Dr. Connors makes a sound of frustration, he was included in the science team formed to observe Max's condition and with time, hopefully find a way to revert him to normal. A task that much like his own private experiments was met with minimal success even with there being more scientists-some with expert knowledge in electricity-involved. Connors heard about what's been said about Max on the news and it angered him that Tetherby had the gall to make Max the scapegoat of this nightmare.

The young man that's been handling the generator was hardly an evil mastermind and he didn't deserve any of this which was why out of all of them, he was the most driven to find a way to cure Max from...this.

Scientists and security guards were surrounding a mostly empty room where a single figure stood in the center of it, his entire form was concealed by a dark green containment suit, but through the goggles, one could see blue glowing eyes surrounded by yellow electricity. His body kept generating electricity to the point that it surrounded his entire body, it made him completely unrecognizable, almost inhuman. Inhuman. Max has heard that word be flung around between everyone among other things. Freak. Monster. Abnormality. Subject. It was like he's no longer classified as being a human being, but if he was being honest, he was starting to agree. Waking up and finding himself like this, it was a traumatic experience. The last thing he remembered before waking up was excruciating pain and then he opens his eyes to a lot of prying eyes and armed officers.

After the initial freak out, Doctor Connors informed him on the current state of things.

He promised that they were doing everything they can to improve his condition, but if that were true, he'd had left this place by now. Instead, he's forced to just sit and wait it out. At this rate, he's starting to feel more like a lab rat than a patient and it just ticked him off to no end, he isn't even allowed to make a phone call.

Not that it'll help.

With his problem, it would've exploded upon contact.

Same with the food they tried feeding him and you can forget about water, obviously.

Even if he could eat, he doesn't really need it for sustenance, he seems to have developed the ability to absorb electrical energy to keep himself alive which makes food no longer necessary. This was no way for anyone to live, he barely feels anything like his old self, and it boiled up a lot of rage inside the suit that controlled the power inside. "Max?" Doctor Connors called for his attention. "Can you hear me?"

A beat of silence followed, then he answers. "Yeah. I hear you, Doc." His voice was distorted now and noticeably deeper and had a hollow feel to it.

"We've been comparing notes and well...I'm afraid progress on a possible cure is still slow and-"

"Don't tell me." Max cuts him off disgruntledly. "You need more time? I need to be patient? You're doing everything you can? Tell me something I haven't heard before and then I'll believe you."

Connors sighs. It was understandable for Max to be dissatisfied, all he wanted was a cure and right now, it looked to be an impossibility. "I'm sorry, Max. But your condition is a unique one. You must understand that." he points out. "You're body's generation and absorption of electrical energy goes at a fast rate, our instruments simply can't perfectly adapt to it. By all counts, what happened should've killed you but miraculously you're still alive." He tells Max, trying to lift his spirits even by just a little.

"So, you're saying this is a some miracle?" Max bitterly laughs and looks at his hands and clenches them into fists. "That it's a good thing I'm your boss's new science experiment?! No. A miracle would be you finding a cure so I can get my life back!" He roars, causing a light surge in the lights and the guards raised their rifles. "And look at that! The zookeepers are making sure the animal behaves well!"

"Max, please. I know this isn't ideal, but we really are working hard and-"

"With nothing to show for it!" Max slams the glass wall. "How long do I have to wait until you all can even begin to fix me! Days? Weeks?! YEARS?! Remember what you said to me when I woke up, doc? You said that you'd find a way to make me normal again! You promised!"

"I know and I am terribly sorry. It's just.,,,like I said, your condition is unprecedented. As such, our abilities to reverse whatever the generator and the eels did to you are rather limited I'm afraid."

"Excuses! Excuses! How am I supposed to trust you if all you're giving me are lousy excuses?!"

"Connors." A guard called, pointing to a monitor showing the measure of Max's power that rose up.

"Max, please calm down." Connors checked his watch and grimaced as he saw that time was almost up for the session. "Listen. I know this is a less than ideal situation, but please, believe me when I saw that we will find a cure. Until then, you'll just have to give us more time." He implores, his fellow scientists leaving the room and the guards stayed behind.

The being who was once a normal human named Max Dillon went back to his sitting position and glowered at the guards who seemed a bit too trigger happy for his liking. He'd dared them to try, one upside to this mess is that he's a little hard to put down, it'd take a lot of firepower if they wanted to make a dent on him. He thought to himself; if he had all this power, then why should he let them treat him like a caged animal? He's the victim here, that damn generator was paid for and supplied by that rich jerk and yet, no one seems to be pointing fingers at him. They're pinning it all on the engineer who just trying to make enough scratch to pay for college.

It wasn't right.

'I don't deserve this!' Max mentally roars. He needed to get out, he can't stand to be here any longer. 'I have to get out of here!'

Hours went by after the scientists left.

A lot of security precautions were in place to keep him restrained, but they mostly relied on his compliance. He can't do much behind a glass container, but then he remembered the tube that transports food inside. If he was right, then now would be the time the hatch on both ends of his prison open up and in a split second, Max releases a small spark of electricity. This tiny spark travelled through the tube and increased in power, shocking the security officer into submission. The other guards went for the alarm, but the spark coursed through all the guards electrocuting them, a key-card was levitated and used to unlock his prison.

Max Dillon was finally free.

Spider-Man's dramatic arrival at the community college disaster garnered a lot of media attention with many thanking him for his aid as they weren't sure they would've made it out alive. Predictably, J. Jonah Jameson reared his head to give his usual critique on his actions, saying how eerily coincidental it was for the masked vigilante to arrive before the proper authorities or how reckless it was for someone as young as him going off to an emergency that others were professionally trained for. "Pfft. Spaz." Lincoln scoffs as he scrolls down from the post from the Bugle and walks through the school hallway, he was primarily looking for information pertaining to that injured guy in the lab.

The news paint him as the culprit of the generator getting out of control, but something besides his spider sense told him not to believe that claim. Thinking it over, this was either a freak accident or perhaps there was a separate saboteur in the wind. It was really hard to tell right now without at least hearing from the guy in question.

Whatever the case was, he still felt a little bad for the guy. After seeing what he went through at the lab, he honestly hoped he'd pull through because taking the full force of that much electricity could kill a man and well, he felt a little bad since may feel that he could've arrived sooner even though there was no way he'd know about the accident happening in the first place. "Lincoln." He stops his browsing once he saw Ronnie Anne standing at her locker and she said his name.

"Ronnie Anne. Hey-OW!" He rubs his shoulder after the punch she gave him. "The heck was that for?"

"Duh, idiot. You never called me since last night." Ronnie Anne remembers almost staying up past the curfew, waiting for any word from her best friend following them going their separate ways. "What happened?"

"My...phone had low battery. Had to charge it overnight and my family kept on clinging to me for dear life. I was the only one who was out last night." That part wasn't a lie.

"Yeah? Then make sure you're phone's charged next time." Ronnie Anne crosses her arms in a huff and trails a finger in her ponytail. "I-I don't want to be scared like that again."

Her punches always hurt, but he knew she had an odd way of showing affection. "For the sake of my shoulder, I'll keep that in mind." He chuckles. "Even if it were charged, with how crazy things were, not sure I would've done anything else."

"I guess I can understand that." The two friends walked together. "I here the college got the worst of it. All classes cancelled and a lot of people still recovering in the hospital. You think it's true that Dillon guy caused it?"

"Not really sure." Lincoln answered, honestly. "Who can really be sure? Seems to me like that Tetherby guy just wants something out of this since that was his generator that got trashed. I may not know much about this Max Dillon, but there's a side to every story. I just hope he's doing okay."

Maybe a nice swing through town will help ease his worries.

Max Dillon was not okay.

He was finally out of that damn laboratory and could roam about in the city, but he couldn't really do it without bringing some unwanted attention to himself, so he took some clothes to hide his suit and a cap to cover his masked face and discreetly walked through the crowds of people. He didn't what else to do. Getting out of the lab was just to satisfy his need to actually go out after a while, but what comes after was completely lost on him, he clearly didn't think that far ahead. No way was he going to look for Hugh or Francine, he wasn't sure how'd they take the new him and he couldn't risk hurting him due to his lack of control of his abilities. Phones buzzing and ATMs wigging out whenever he walks pass any electronic device without him even putting an effort was evident enough.

Would they even be accepting of him even if he wasn't like this?

He didn't want to believe but the thought of them believing all that junk that's been said about them has crossed his mind and he could handle rejection from others, but two of his closest friends thinking of him as some sort of monster was a prospect he wasn't willing to face. But what else is a newly established superpowered human to do?

Max stops walking as he gazes at a coffee shop. It was the one he and his friends would go to when they'd have some free time from school, he subconsciously walked inside. At the counter, a man and his daughter were standing as he was just about to receive his order, then the little girl noticed a large shadow looming over her ominously. She looks up at the masked man with the unreadable expression, she tugs at her father and points to the odd stranger.

"Daddy, what's he wearing?" The man looks Max's way and hastily walks off with his kid, telling her too keep quiet, discouraging Max.

The barista behind the counter momentarily freezes up as Max walks up. "What are you staring at?" If he could, he'd show her his scowl.

"W-Waiting for your order, sir?" She meekly asks.

"Yeah. Coffee!" He snatches the drink from her hand and places money he took from one of the guards and walks away. A mouthpiece opened up and he attempt to sip, but electricity leaks out from the opening and he drops the coffee, spilling it on the ground. "Oh, man! I can't even drink a lousy cup of coffee!" The electricity around him reacted to his growing anger and everything around him shorted out and malfunctioned, Max realizes this when the light bulbs explode above him and all the patrons look to him in unbridled fear and suspicion. "No! I-I didn't mean to, I just-UGH!" He ran out of the shop hastily, unable to handle it.

As this was happening, everyone's friendly neighborhood Spider-Man was peacefully swinging during his usual patrol until he caught sight of the running masked man from the coffee shop. "Uh-Oh. Thug alert." He engages pursuit of Max who continues to run off to anywhere that didn't have so many people around him. "Man, someone must've made quite the score to put in that much leg work." The wall crawler commented. "Either that or he really wants to reach his track goal."

"Out of the way!" Max pushes past people until he hits a stack of boxes and falls to the floor and he finds himself surrounded by curious onlookers, making him panic. "Leave me alone!" His roar resulted in the lamp posts lights going suddenly, making everyone scream and the police get involved. "That-I wasn't trying to-"

A web struck his back and he was know trapped to a large web above the streets. "They overcharge you?" Spidey asked, hanging upside down on a web. "Or are you just craving for some attention? Want my advice? Lose the mask." A web strand sticks to his mask and yanks it off, revealing a face that looks to be made of yellow electricity which surprised Spider-Man and pushed Max to the brink as he roars angrily, sending multiple bolts, destroying the web and striking Spider-Man in the chest, blasting him into a wall and fell down to the sidewalk. Max landed safely and approached the young crimefighter, lightning crackling from his hands and face. "You just made the last mistake of your life, kid!" Out of all the troubles he's been dealing with, Max didn't a kid in red and blue giving him attitude. "Why did you attack me?!" Max demands and with each step he took, the more damage he caused all around him.

He attempts to grab the little annoyance, but Spidey jumps and ricochets off a building to give himself some more space. "Attack is an ugly word, you know. I expected better manners from my first supervillain. I mean, was technically the first supervillain I fought, but you're like the first superpowered one."

"Villain?!" Max incredulously repeats. "This some kind of game to you?!" He points, unintentionally firing a lightning bolt at him, making Spide-Man jump over from the line of fire but was hit once that momentarily stuns him.

"Lot of power there, sparkles. Try unplugging." Spider-Man snatches some TV's from a broken window sale and threw them at him which exploded upon impact.

"Stop it! Stop it! STOP IT!" Being a lab rat/prisoner was enough torture, now he was looked upon as some kind of public menace by everyone. His anger summons more and more power and when Spider-Man jumps in to tackle him, he gets caught and is levitated in mid-air. Spidey gets thrown into a nearby vehicle and Max decides he's through with enough annoyances. "Everyone thinks I'm such a monster?! Fine! Then let me play the part!"

Growing more unhinged, Max began a brutal assault of multiple lightning blasts at the dodging Spider-Man, all logic with the once engineer's head having been replaced with an intent to vent out his anger. He leaps onto the roof of the car and then jumps up when Max fired once again, blowing up the vehicle, Max sees as Spidey swings away and sends multiple attacks at him and the web slinger sticks to under building stairs. His phone then started ringing, which served as a big inconvenience. "Seriously?" Spider-Man answers the call. "Hello?"

"Linky? Can you hear me?"

"Leni?" He half expected it to be Lori. "Now's not really a good time."

"Sorry, Linky. I just needed your opinion on something. I've been trying to sea which goes good with my eyes and I'm stuck between lavender and sunset yellow."

"Leni, I may help you design your clothes, but that doesn't mean I have an eye for fashion like you."

"Oh, don't say that, silly. I mean, that orange polo wouldn't do any favors for any other person, but you managed to pull it off."

"Thanks?" With Leni, she always manages to make an insult also seem like a compliment. "Woah!" He evades more attacks from the temperamental lightning thrower, hiding behind a billboard.

"What was that?"

"Nothing! Just saw some lightning in the sky!"

"That's right, the weatherman said it'd rain later. Did you bring an umbrella?"

Spider-Man snorts. "Doubt an umbrella would help in this case."

"How come?"

"Um, it's not really raining here yet, so I think I can make it back home without getting soaked."

"That's a relief. We can talk more after you get back."

Spider-Man tucks his phone back into a pocket and sees Max suddenly leap over and land on the building near the board. His powers were too much for Spider-Man to face on directly and Max knew that, he continued his assault knowing full well that the kid couldn't keep up the dodging game forever. Sooner or later, he was going to slow down. Once he did, Spidey was lifted up by his powers and pulls him in to grab the runt by the collar of his suit. "Want me to play the bad guy? Then how's this?!" He shocked the kid with a lot of volts that would've singed him, but a miracle came in the form of orange electricity coming from the hero. It cancels out Max's own and results in an explosion that threw them both away from each other.

Groaning, Spider-Man picked himself up and looks at an empty spot where Max Dillon once stood. "Gone." Police sirens were coming close and he knew now was the time to go.

"Well, there goes another singed super-suit." Lincoln drops his tattered uniform onto the bed, the electricity of that guy combined with his own did a huge number on it. Well, it was a good thing he always came with a backup plan. After that accident, he gained the idea to make a special insulated suit, one that can take the full force of electricity.

The only goof thing that came out of that fight with sparky, or "Electro" as the news branded him as was that his cautiousness was justified.

His Venom Blasts also apparently has more power than he first realized.

Before now, he only used them to taser people and short out pieces of technology, now he was thinking of ways his power can be used for close combat purposes. After his run-in with sparky, he might need to work on being more of a fighter than a wisecrakcer when out in the field, even if he wasn't prone to be a fighter. "Yes, I understand." A familiar voice with a lisp says. "This is indeed quite the predicament you've found yourself in, Dr. Connors. These extraordinary factors would have any higher intelligence stumped. I'm prepared to offer whatever assistance you require."

"Lisa?" He recognizes that intellectual babble anywhere.

"I can ask for anyone to drive me there, swiftly. Until then." Lincoln slowly opens the door to peak inside and sees Lisa and a slumbering Lily, thumb in mouth. "Ah, Lincoln. Is there something you need?"

"No, I couldn't help overhearing." Lincoln recognized the name, Connors. "Are you going somewhere?"

"An old college of mine in the scientific community needs some extra assistance with a rather...unique problem. It pertains to that enhanced individual that traded blows with the other enhanced of our city. If you're curious, you're welcomed to come along. I just need to secure as a means of transportation." Lisa yells out for their oldest sibling. "Lori! I require a ride to Royal Woods Community College!"

"Get mom to do it! I'm busy!"

"If you do not wish for Roberto to find out about Hugh, I recommend you comply!"

Max didn't know how else things can go wrong from here on.

What happened proved that he just can't cut it living as a normal guy anymore, normal people don't shoot lightning out of their fingertips and they certainly don't look like the way he does. With that runt, Spider-Man, all he had to do was stop bank robbers and muggers and he's celebrated by most folks instead of feared. He had no control in what happened to him, he didn't even ask for these powers, he was perfectly happy with being your average college student, not some super freak. That fight with the kid took the news by storm, and now he's got a new name. Electro. Max Dillon is who he is, it's the name he was born with.

But maybe Max Dillon perished the night of the accident and his place, there stood a being that's only capable of hurting innocents and being looked at nothing more than as a threat to society. That's what most people have begun to think of him as, so really, there is no point in him trying to salvage anything from his old life.

His old life is over.

All he can do is hide in the alleys of Royal Woods, shunned by the society he was once a part of, the enhanced didn't even react that much to the police cars that slowly came up to him alongside vehicles with familiar guards.

"Excuse me, sir." An officer calls. "You're Max Dillon, correct?"

"...What's it to you?"

All present shared a tentative glance, sweat pouring down as they've seen how volatile this guy can be when pushed. "We've been asked to escort you back for further testing,"

Rifles were armed and readied when Max slowly rose up, face behind his recovered mask. "Tests? If it's all the same to you, I've had enough of tests."

"Look, Dillon. After last night's little blowout, it's either that or a jail cell." He was given one heck of an ultimatum and these guys weren't willing to just let him roam free in his state.

"My call? My call?!" Max Dillon-no, Electro's mask retracted and he summoned forth more power from his hands and the forces assembled to take him down took a step back. "None of it has been my call!" Multiple vehicles were flung onto each other and he sent of a wave of electricity that flew all of them in the sky and crash through windows, walls, and skids them across the streets, easily incapacitated under the dominance of Electro. All of these people hurt, and it just made him more miserable. Electro seemed to be the only option left for him, unless...

There was only one person that could still help.

And thus, three Loud kids were on their way to the site of the accident. During the drive, Lisa took the liberty on explaining why she's been hailed by Dr. Curt Connors. During her brief time at Tetherby Corps., Connors was one of the few people there she actually got along with as he wasn't a pretentious snob with a superiority complex. His reasons for researching were also easy to understand and sympathize with. Despite her leaving, the two still kept in touch with each other in case one needed help from the other and that day has come. While this was confidential, Lisa told her older brother that the electric being that Spider-Man fought against was really Max Dillon, the extent of what the accident did to him was kept secret from the public but he felt he could trust her. Because he kept meeting failures at the lab that used to be Max's prison, he needed outside assistance, ie, Lisa.

Lincoln listened on with interest, but most of all, with guilt. The realization that who he assumed to be a supervillain stirring up trouble in his home was actually a scared guy that was probably scared out of his mind. Getting these powers, his whole life turning upside down, it eerily reminds him of his own situation. 'His life just goes wrong and me just picking a fight with him made it even worse.' he somberly sighs. 'I know there probably wouldn't be much I could've done to help, but that doesn't mean I couldn't at least have tried. Some superhero I turned out to be.'

"Alright. We're here." Lincoln opened the door to let Lisa out first, then followed. "Try not make it long. Being here is literally making me on edge." Lori advises them.

Nodding, Lincoln and Lisa walked through the entrance to the community college which was basically deserted at this point even after the repairs were completed. The only building still active was the science lab where it all started, where Electro was born and in there was Doctor Connors, patiently waiting. "Lisa, so good to see you. again."

"Likewise, Curt." Lisa shares a handshake with her fellow scientist before gesturing to Lincoln. "This is my elder and sole brother, Lincoln. He often assists me in my scientific breakthroughs."

He resisted the urge to blurt out 'unwittingly'. "Nice to meet you, sir." He also shakes his hand, then freezes once he sees this it was made out of metal and now comes to know that he was staring. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-"

"It's quite alright, Lincoln. I'm used to that reaction." Connors gets to the matter at hand and they follow him to the rebuilt water tank of eels. "I'm glad you accepted my request, Lisa. I've done everything I can, but Max's condition. It's practically incurable."

"Do not be so hard on yourself." Lisa tells him. "The scientific community at large still understands very little about these enhanced individuals that it's perfectly understandable to be met with a few roadblocks along the way." Her brain went to thinking and she looks at the water tank, already thinking of a possible solution. "Has the thought of placing the subject in a tank come to mind? A bioelectric filter could siphon off-"

Connors shakes hid head. "No. Won't work, I'm afraid. Eels exist to evolve in aquatic environments. Max didn't and with the volts he's currently generating, it'd be inadvisable to place in anything with water."

Lisa sighs. "Then we certainly have our work cut out for us as one would say."

"I'll go fetch my notes. This may take a while."

When he was out of earshot, Lincoln turns to his sister. "He sure seems nice."

"Dr. Connors may not be as distinguished as the likes of Reed Richards or Hank Pym, but he is quite the sparkling conversationalist. He is also quite driven, more than most in his field."

Truer words have never been said. Connors is a scientist, committed to see his experiments through to the end with the results he was hoping for no matter what it took. In his office, Connors silently hoped this time would be different, how could expect to help himself or those like him if he can't even help Max Dillon?

The lights dimmed and Connors paled. "Oh, no..."

Back outside his office, the two Loud siblings saw electricity fizzle out of the power box and Lincoln's spider sense alerted him to trouble. Two doors were blasted off and enters Electro. "Connors! Where is he?!" He called out, looking at the two children and throws a chemistry set off the table. "I know he's here somewhere! Bring me Connors now!"

"Max!" The scientist rushes out and tries to appease to him. "I'm right here. Try to stay calm."

"Calm?! We left calm a lifetime ago, Doc! I can't take it anymore!" He raises his arm, showing his visage. "This? This isn't living! You say you want to help me? Well get to it! You spent time here much more than I did! Only you can fix me!"

"We're working on that, Max. I promise you. We just need more time-"

"No!" Electro shakes his head in frustration. "I don't have time! Cure me. Now!" He blasted a wall with intensity as a warning shot to him if he fails to do. He walks towards Connors threateningly. "Need the right incentive? I got it right here" He seeths.

Lincoln looks to his sister behind then to Connors and realizes that revealing himself right here and now would spill his secret, but it could save them both. 'Well, the whole secret identity thing was fun while it lasted.'

Ropes suddenly fell down, however. From the roof windows, Tetherby guards slid down from a helicopter hovering over the lab after they successfully tracked Electro down to the college. "He's run out of chances! Fire!" The bullets that flew at him were caught in his electric field and shot at their weapons and them soon after.

"You two go out the back!" Connors shouts to the kids. "It's too dangerous here!"

"But, Doctor Connors, what about you?!"

"I can still try talking to him! Go!"

Lincoln grabs the prodigy's hand. "Come on!" The two Loud siblings did as they were told and made it outside, a lightning shot out of the roof made them hightail it faster until Vanzilla was reached.

The eldest Loud sibling rolled down the window as soon a she saw Lisa. "The heck is going on?!"

"Max Dillon is here! We must make hate and leave now, Lori!"

But there was something that Lori needed to point out. "W-Where's Lincoln?"

"Lincoln? Why he's-"

Now was the time that Lisa registers that her big brother was nowhere in sight.

Back in the lab, Electro shot blasts at the helicopter above which weaved to dodge the incoming attacks as a way to tell them that they risk getting involved at their own peril, just ask the ones he just took down. "Max, please. There's no need to hurt anyone else." Connors tells, trying in vain to beseech him once more. "A cure will be found. As I keep saying, time is needed-"

"UGH! It's like you're a broken record!" Electro glared, swinging with his right hand, flipping the table over and breaking part.

Connors pales as the lightning wielder advances. "Woah, woah!" Both look up and see Spider-Man hanging from the ceiling through a single web, he lowers himself down to their level. "Not much of a cure, but have you considered trying chill pills?"

"You!" The other blight on Electro's life.

Spider-Man settles down on the ground, more cordial and soothing compared to last time. "Yeah, me. Look, about what happened before, I pretty much jumped the gun and I really am sorry about that. No good will come from any this, just let us help you." He ducks under a sweeping fist then jumped at the blast aimed at his feet.

"It's too late for that! Don't you get it, kid? Without a cure, I'm can't be Max Dillon anymore. You heard what the news have been calling me, right? I'm...Electro!" Embracing his new identity, the mask retracts to free the power inside, unleashing all his pent up rage through blinding lightning for all to see and cower in fear. Spider-Man sees Connors and remembers his sisters that were at the entrance in the family van, there was no getting through to Electro now, he needed to be stopped.

"Alright, Electro. You wanna vent?" Spidey stuck a web to a large piece of remains of the table. "Then vent!" He throws it at him which did little to injure him and Electro did various swipes to send waves at Spider-Man. Utilizing his evasive maneuvering, Spider-Man didn't get hit once and saw an opening to web him at the chest. A lightning ran through the line to shock him and while it did cause some mild discomfort to Spider-Man, this version of the suit held up some resistance. "Nice try! But you're not the only one with that can put on a light show!" Sending his own electricity through the line, it fought off Electro's power on almost equal footing. Spider-Man lands on a table and then continuously webs Electro up to give Connors enough time for him to make it out through an exit and Spidey webs it shut so that Electro couldn't follow.

"No...my only chance at a cure..." Electro laments. "You just helped him escape!" Breaking free from the webs, Electro attacks Spider-Man and jumps at him, Spider-Man gets off the table to see Electro slip on it, falling onto the chemicals and causing an explosion. Spidey watches as Electro walks through the flames, unharmed. "I was wrong before. Now, you've made the last mistake of your life!" Mustering up as much power he needed, Electro fires a larger blast that hits Spider-Man out the entrance, landing hard on the ground. Dodging Electro's blast was a lot harder now and seeing Vanzilla from the corner of his eye made him decide to take this fight somewhere else. With this suit's resistance, Spider-Man, when he got close enough, grabbed Electro and throws him to a wall to another building.

"What's the matter?" Spider-Man taunted from his spot "All out of juice-AGH!" Electro still had a lot of fight in him, evident by the lightning blast that shot Spider-Man to an electric tower. "Me and my big spider mouth." Spidey groans out.

Electro chuckles darkly. "Can't escape me up there, web slinger! With all the power that goes through this city, it can be my playground!" he fires himself up to reach the tower. Spider-Man goes into the tower as Electro focused a lot of energy into it and he wasn't sure if his suit could handle that much, so he kept himself up through a web slung upwards away from.

"In hindsight, climbing a big metal tower wasn't the bright idea." Spidey admitted and a familiar tune was heard and he slumps his head before answering the call. "Please it be Leni..."

It was not.

"Lincoln Loud! Where are you?!"

Just had to be Lori. "I'm hiding!" He hastily replies back. "Lisa and I got separated and I'm hiding out until everything blows over."

"Then why do I literally hear static?!"

"...Its started raining, right? And that Electro guy, he's probably messing with the phone signals. That's possible, right? Ask Lisa?" Holding off a supervillain while also in the middle of a call with his sister was just as hard as it sounded, he should've learned that after Leni. Standing on one hand upside down didn't help matters. "Look, I'm alright. Spidey's got this covered, so I'll meet up with you when it's over. Stay safe. Love you. Bye!" Hanging up and putting it back in his many pockets, Spidey shook his head. "She is so gonna freak about this. Of course, getting chewed out by her doesn't sound so bad right now."

Between that and Electro, he'd take the yelling older sister.

Electro keeps climbing, absorbing more power from the bright neon letters on the tower, he fired a blast straight from his own mouth that struck the big W and it fell through a glass roof down to a pool.

Water plus electricity equals.

Now there's a plan.

Slinging one last web, Spider-Man swung completely around the tower, narrowly avoiding getting hit and Electro gaped as the kid kicks him square in the chest and before he knew it, he was falling straight down to the pool building, into the watery pool. The last place someone like him should've landed. He felt his power build up, but it was too much even for him to control. Spider-Man looks down and gets back when all the water is exploded from the pool, leaving empty besides a weakened and defeated supervillain who can now only create small sparks. Helicopters and police vehicles were nearing their location and without enough power, Electro couldn't fight back this time and Spider-Man swung off. His work complete.

"Next time you want to ask for a ride, make sure no freaks show up!" Lori sternly tells her younger siblings.

After Spider-Man fought and defeated Electro, he quickly changed back into Lincoln Loud and regrouped with his sisters at Vanzilla, they went straight home where the two younger kids got an earful from their parents for going out when there was a dangerous superpowered threat. They were lucky that they didn't get grounded for life after that. "Apologies, Lori. But in my defense, despite my vast knowledge, not even I would have enough foresight to predict such an event."

Lori rolled her eyes, leave it to Lisa to try and science-plain it all away. "Look, Lori. The important thing is that we made it out alive. That should be enough, right?" Her little brother tells her.

All the blonde could do was sigh in defeat.

Why must he always bring up good points?

"I'm just gonna go lie down and call Bobby. Need a full hour of phone time with Boo-Boo Bear to get rid of all this stress."

With their older sister pacified, Lincoln and Lisa hopped off the couch and walked up the stairs where their individual rooms are located, wanting to get some much needed rest. "You weren't wrong before, Lincoln. It is fortunate we survived that ordeal physically unscathed." The smart little girl told him. "Suppose it is a good thing that Spider-Man just so happened to have been near the vicinity to respond to such dangers. Wouldn't you agree?"

Lincoln raised an eyebrow at her tone, it sounded almost unbelieving. "Well, we can chalk that up to being a perk of our town having a superhero to bust us out of problems."

"Maybe this time. But he can't always be there." Lisa pointed out. "Even though he could very well be closer than anyone realizes."

Now that was just too cryptic for his liking, it was on Lucy levels of creepy. "If you say so. I'm just gonna go ahead and sleep. Kiss Lily goodnight for me." Lisa takes a lasting look to her brother's walking form before going to her own room.

Dropping to the bed with a heavy sigh, Lincoln's eyes slowly closed. "Finally." All in all, everything could be worse, he managed to beat the bad guy, but he wasn't exactly bad from the beginning. A part of him hopes he'll get the help he needs, but with the way of how angry he was, that may be easier said than done.

At least he can now relax and not worry about anything else.

"The project!" Lincoln shouts, having just remembered.

Never mind.

"This is Katherine Mulligan reporting live from the sight of the hero, Spider-Man fighting the villain known as Electro, and-"

"He's not a villain!"

The camera pans over the crowd of people where Francine storms up to the front to say her peace to the reporters and camera crew over their classifying of Max as a bad person. Hugh, appeared as well, trying to pull his friend back as the police tell her to back up from the scene of the battle, but she was committed to set the record straight. "Francine, please. Now isn't the time."

"No, Hugh! This needs to be said! Max Dillon isn't a monster or a freak and his name isn't Electro! Those guys at Tetherby built that damn generator, why's no one asking them any questions, huh?!"

"Cut to commercial. Cut to commercial!" Katherine hissed to the crew and the TV was shut off.

"Quite the development. I wonder, did you perhaps want this to happen as well, Mr. Tetherby."

Anthony Tetherby sat in his office, watching the news coverage focusing on the newly created enhanced individual known as Electro and his fascination knew no bounds. When his scientists gave their reports on young Dillon's progress, it amazed how something so powerful resulted from an "accident" that he orchestrated. "Believe it or not, when I sent that fake engineer, this was not what I had in mind. But, it still impressed me. The birth of this Electro was not an intended result, but it could possibly be worked to our advantage."

"If we can somehow keep that temper of his in control. We can't have rage machines like him making a mess of everything."

"What all unpredictable assets need is a means to be controlled and I know just the person to make such a thing." Tetherby brought a screen which showed a figure hiding in the shadows. "Good news. I have a new little project for you. If you feel you're up for it, that is."

"Do not insult me, Tetherby. Whatever it is, it better be important."

Tetherby smirked. "Don't worry. This is right up in your area of expertise...Octavius."
