Defending Mary Margaret
snoopykidasked for a oneshot of Emma confronting David in season 1 over breaking Mary Margaret's heart. She winds up punching him in the nose and breaking it. Mary Margaret walks into the diner with Henry and sees the whole thing happen.
Emma had always been a fairly solitary person. She tried to convince herself that was her choice, that she preferred being on her own because people were too messy and emotional. That she wasn't an emotional person and it was better if she flew solo. But that wasn't true at all. The truth was, Emma felt emotions very deeply, and that's why she shied away from others. She was afraid of them seeing that in her.
But she couldn't hold back how pissed off she was when she saw Mary Margaret crying herself to sleep that night. Emma had never really had a family growing up. She hadn't really had many friends either. So when she moved to the quaint little town of Storybrooke and the school teacher took her in, Emma quickly found that Mary Margaret became not just her new best friend, but the family she had never had. So when some bozo thought he could waltz into her life for a few quickies and break her heart, especially when he was already married, Emma wasn't having it. Emma didn't care if he was just out of a coma. She would put David Nolan straight back into one for what he had done.
Emma didn't care that the diner was packed when she stormed in, knowing David would be there to collect his mid-afternoon coffee. She marched up to where he stood in the queue. Judging by the look on his face, he knew why she was here.
"Emma, I'm not looking for a fight-"
"Well tough because you're about to get one." Emma growled. "How could you do that to Mary Margaret? She loved you! You've let her completely take the rap for something you both did. You're a coward."
"My marriage is on the line so it's not like I'm not being punished for what happened." David tried to defend himself. That was too much for Emma. She balled her hand into a fist and aimed it squarely at his nose. It collided right against the bone and gave a sickening crunch on impact. Emma couldn't help but he satisfied with his yelp as blood began spurting out.
"Emma." Came a stern voice from behind. Emma turned round and suddenly dread took the place of the satisfaction she had been feeling. For there stood Mary Margaret…with her hands on Henry's shoulders. "Henry was looking for you to go to his castle." Emma could hear the anger and embarrassment in her roommate's voice. She had messed up big time. The whole diner was silent now, watching as Emma walked over and smiled sheepishly at her son.
"Mare…"
"Go with Henry." Mary Margaret cut Emma off, fuming. Emma nodded glumly, wishing her temper hadn't gotten the better of her now. But she couldn't help herself. Emma had promised herself if she was ever lucky enough to find herself a family she would defend them with everything she had. That's all she had been trying to do. Even if she had gone about it in completely the wrong way.
