"I'm telling you, it was the scariest thing," I was telling my friends the next day during Math class. I know we were supposed to be studying up on algebra but I wanted to confide in the others on what I discovered late last night. "It was a church and there was something in it. I don't know what it was. But it was creepy as fuck. I got the hell out of there. I don't know what that place was."

"That's odd…I don't recall there being a church around that area," Stan said who sat in front of me. "Did you say it was around the south part of town? What kind of church was it? Do you know?"

But I shook my head. "I don't think it was an ordinary church. The things I saw in there…," I trailed off. I suddenly remembered staring into that strange shining crystal and that unnerving feeling I got. It was like I'd woken something up…

"It was probably a Jewish church," Cartman said lazily who was reading a game-magazine instead of studying. "Its okay, Kenny. I freaked out too when I went into a Jew's church once. It's pretty normal."

"Yeah, normal if you're a fat intolerant prick," Kyle snapped irritably in Cartman's direction.

"No, you're wrong," I told Cartman. "I don't think it was a church for any kind of religion I'm familiar with. That place was evil." I'd shuddered just thinking about it. That place gave me seriously bad vibes.

Stan still looked concerned. "I don't get it. How is there a church out there anyway? Was it brand new? I'm pretty sure we would've heard if there was a new church being built in town," he pointed out.

"The funny thing about that is the church looked kinda old," I said thoughtfully. "It's like it just appeared there out of nowhere. I don't know where it came from. I don't like it."

Kyle looked up from his math book he'd been reading and looked over at me. "That is pretty worrisome," he admitted. "But didn't you say you went inside to investigate? What did you find, Kenny? Any clues?"

I didn't know where to start. Do I tell Kyle about how scary and dark it was inside that church? Do I mention the alien-like feeling that seemed to invade my senses? Or tell him about that strange object I found? "There was some pretty weird shit in that church," was all I could say. But then I got an idea. "Wait! I do remember seeing a symbol. Here, I'll show you."

With that, I took a piece of paper and used a pencil to draw the symbol that I saw in the church. Stan watched curiously as I drew the symbol and then handed it over to show Kyle and Cartman. "Hmmm… This is the church's symbol?" Kyle said, studying the symbol carefully. "I've never seen anything like it. Maybe I can look it up on the internet and find out what it stands for?"

For once Cartman looked intrigued. "Maybe it's a new church with a new religion?" Then Cartman turned to me. "Where did you say this church was? I want to see it too, Kenny! Where is it?"

But I was shaking my head with a serious scowl. "No way, Cartman. I think you better stay away," I warned. "In fact, I went ahead and called the police and told them about the church. I think they want to go investigate the place for themselves. Hopefully they can solve the mystery better than I can."

At that moment, our math teacher's voice caught all of our attention. "Okay class, I hope you have all these math equations memorized. Let's see if one of you can remember the answers. Mr. Cartman, why don't we start with you?" Stan, Kyle and I couldn't stifle our snickers where Cartman cursing under his breath clearly hadn't studied.

...

Later that very same day, the sky was starting to start a deep shade of purple which signified that night-time would soon be upon them. Two police-cars pulled in front of the suspicious-looking church. Sergeant Yates and Officer Murphy got out of the one car and checked out the gothic-looking church before them. Two fellow police-officers joined them and together they decided to scope the place out. Sergeant Yates turned on his flashlight and motioned for the other officers to follow him.

"This must be it. It's strange. I don't remember there being a church way out here," Sergeant Yates said suspiciously. "Something's not right. We better have a look around. Follow me, men!"

With that, Sergeant Yates along with Officer Murphy started checking around the grounds of the church. However it didn't take long for them to become uneasy and apprehensive. The church itself seemed to give off an evil aura. Worst of all, Sergeant Yates and Officer Murphy was starting to suffer headaches and realized that being near the church seemed to be making them lose their minds. Try as they might, they couldn't shake off the feeling that there was something sinister at work here.

After twenty minutes of searching all around the church, Sergeant Yates stared at the entrance. "Well there doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary. But just to be sure, somebody better head inside and check it out. Officer Fleming, you go check it out!" Sergeant Yates ordered.

"Uhhh… Why do I have to go?" Officer Fleming whined. He couldn't stop staring fearfully at the church. "Sergeant, I don't want go in there. That place gives me the chills."

"Alright, alright. Officer Milford, you'd better go with Fleming," Sergeant Yates said. "Just go inside and look around. But just to be on the safe side, keep your radios on. Don't take too long in there. At the first sign of trouble, you two get back here on the double. Am I clear on this?"

Now they watched as Officers Fleming and Milford began to head for the church's front door. Officer Fleming took out his handgun and nodded nervously as Officer Milford pushed the door open, went inside first before Fleming went in after him. Sergeant Yates and Officer Murphy watched anxiously from afar and hoped it all went well. Even from a distance, they still couldn't shake off the unsettling feeling that washing over them. It was like something was trying to possess their minds. But both men tried to keep their composures. Five minutes have passed and the two officers were still investigating the church.

"Sergeant, the church is a real mess but there doesn't appear to be anything strange," Milford spoke over the walkie-talkie. "Ugh. Why is it so dark in here? We can barely see a thing."

After a moment, Officer Murphy turned to Sergeant Yates. "Sir, was it such a good idea to sent those two in there?" He pointed to the church with his thumb. "We don't know anything about this place. And I don't know about you, but this church is really…" Unfortunately Murphy was cut off by a sudden ears-splitting scream of terror.

Sergeant Yates and Officer Murphy stared in horror when they heard guns being fired inside the church, followed by the ungodly sounds of something "beastly" attacking the two officers inside the church. "Sweet Jesus Monkeyballs! What in the hell is going on in there?"Sergeant Yates cried in alarm. Now he was practically gripping his walkie-talkie for dear life. "Officer Milford! Do you read me? What's going in there? What's happening? Officer Milford? Fleming?"

"Oh god! There "is" something in here!" Fleming's panicky voice came over the walkie-talkie. "But it's…it's…oh my goooooood!"

Sergeant Yates and Officer Murphy looked up in time to see a badly mangled body being flung out of the church doorway with such terrifying force, followed by an unholy growl coming from within the church. The body landed in front of Sergeant Yates and Murphy and they realized to their sickening horror that the bloodied body before them was Officer Milford. The sound of broken glass made them look up to see what appeared to be a bloodied and frantic Officer Fleming crawling out of the stained window and moving as far away from the church as he could go.

"Officer Fleming! Are you alright?" Murphy hurried over at once to try to help the shaken man to his feet. "What happened in there? What's going on?"

But Officer Fleming looked utterly traumatized and the look in his eyes said that the man was truly forgone. "I saw it…," he murmured madly. "I saw it… Oh god it was beyond anything I've ever seen. I saw it. It saw me. What is it? I can't fathom it! The things it showed me!"

Before Sergeant Yates or Murphy could stop him, Fleming already took out his handgun, pointed it at his head and pulled the trigger. "Holy fuck!" Murphy cried in shock. "What in the world did they see in there? Sergeant, what do we do now?"

Sergeant Yates gaped down at Officer Fleming's dead body before finally running to the police car. "Shits and crackers! I gotta call it in, Murph! We'll need an ambulance out here pronto. But until then, nobody else is going inside that church! Not until we figure out what the fuck we're dealing with here!" After that, Sergeant Yates and Officer Murphy didn't dare to enter the church. Even when their backup arrived along with the ambulance, nobody wanted to go anywhere near the evil church.

Well that turned gruesome quick. What kind of Eldritch-being is inhabiting the church? Like I've said before, anyone familiar with Lovecraft mythology might already know the answer. But if not, readers will learn who or what this is later on in updated chapters. Thanks for reading so far. See you soon!
