Loyalty

Lyla asked for a oneshot of Snow and Emma not being sucked through the portal in season 2 and being there to help Charming protect Red when the whole town turns against her.

"So she's a werewolf?" Emma asked, unable to hide the edge of fear in her voice. Snow and Charming nodded, the fact being old news to them. "Who has blackouts when she…turns…and can't remember whether she murdered someone or not?"

"That's not exactly the way I would phrase it, Emma." Snow sighed, pacing back and forth. She and Charming both knew Red hadn't killed Billy. It was convincing everyone else that was going to be the problem, apparently, convincing everyone else started with Emma.

"Red was a good friend of ours, Emma. She still is. She learned to control her wolf side. This wasn't her. Someone has set her up." Charming defended Red. He was as certain as Snow that she wasn't the culprit.

"Pretty well." Emma pointed out. Snow and Charming looked up at her.

"Just like Regina set me up well when we all thought Kath…Abigail was dead." Snow reminded her. Emma sighed.

"I'm just saying that you might have to face facts. I'm not saying that it's a certainty, but I am saying that there's a good possibility Red was involved this. It wouldn't be murder, more manslaughter…"

"It's not anything." Snow said, defending her best friend. "Red didn't kill Billy. You once asked me to trust you, Emma. Now I'm asking you to trust us. Focus your finding skills on working out who really killed Billy and why, because it certainly wasn't Red." Emma just kept on looking through her paperwork. There was no point in having this conversation with them if they refused to see sense.

Snow and Charming knew Emma still thought Red was in the picture, they were just going to have to work through that. They wouldn't just show Emma that Red was innocent in all of this, they would show the whole town. They never left a friend behind.
