Chapter 12

Eragon woke up. It was the day after his birthday. He was now 15. Eragon had told everyone who needed to know what happened in his one year's slumber. Eragon's arm and foot and been healing quite nicely, due to the help of his mentors of course. Though the arm and foot were almost healed, Arya still made Eragon wear the bandages and splints to help his healing. Eragon had expressed his disdain in the matter and Arya almost gave him another broken bone.

But Eragon was all too happy that Arya was still in love with him. She may be engaged to another man, but Eragon knows that Arya will do the right thing when the time comes. Kayda was growing bigger by the day as well. Glaedr and Saphira said that Kayda shall go exponentially in the next few days. Eragon pulled the covers of his bed back and looked around in the elven house. Eragon still hasn't moved back to the treehouse he used to live in. Arya objected to that for she said that what if something happens to him again and the medics aren't able to reach him, so she proposed to keep him in the medic room. But is that better for the elven healers or Arya?

Eragon pulled his splinted foot from underneath the covers to touch the cold sea of wood that was the floor. Eragon retracted his foot but slowly set it down to get used to the cold. Eragon then set down his other foot and stoop up, stretching his back, arms, and neck in the process. He then strode over to open the curtains in the window in the back and let the light from the outside pour into the room, bathing it in its glow. Eragon then strode over to the dresser where he pulled out his clothes for the day. As he went over to the mirror to see how he looked he caught a glimpse of his younger self. Eragon looked at the mirror again and saw his younger self staring at him. Eragon blinked his eyes many times and rubbed them, so sure that it was a hallucination, he opened them again, and together stood his younger self and a younger Arya that stood side by side with the hands held.

A knock at the door, caused Eragon to look at the door immediately, forgetting the mirror for one moment. Now when he looked back he saw only his own reflection. He had grown tall, taller than his younger self at least. He needed a haircut, he had hair going past his shoulders that was unkept and very messy. He heard the knock again at the door. So Eragon strode over to open the door and wasn't surprised to see Arya standing there with breakfast. She gave him a small smile which Eragon responded with one of his ones and opening the door. Arya strode in and set down the bread and fruit she brought Eragon on the table, she moved here with magic.

Eragon wanted training but Arya wouldn't let him. But Eragon conspired with Oromis and Brom and the two mentors gave him training for his mind and his magic. None for his body yet. Yet. Oromis gave him scrolls to help him better his education and Brom gave him scrolls and books about the words of the ancient language so that Eragon may be prepared for his battles that will inevitably come.

The scrolls! Eragon yelled internally. He has left scrolls and books on the other side of the bed. Arya would not be happy when she saw them.

Little one shush your internal flapping, some people like sleeping

Eragon ignored his dragon and went over to Arya, to distract her from going over to the other side of the bed. Arya was taking food out of the basket she always brought when she visited Eragon.

"Good morning Arya," Eragon said. They had not spoken at all with each other ever since she knocked on his room door.

Arya looked over and gave Eragon a pleasant smile "Good morning to you as well Eragon," And finished taking all of the food she had brought Eragon out of the bag. "Oh Arya, why have you brought so much food? I can't finish all of this," He said hopelessly.

"Do not worry Eragon I'll with you, this is my breakfast too," She said.

Oh?

Eat the food with her Eragon

But I have to set the mood

Eragon the sun is barely in the sky and you want to set the mood?

Good point

Now eat the food.

Arya beckoned Eragon to come closer and closer he came. He went around the bed and met up with the scrolls and books that were on the ground. Arya was confused by the route he took to sit on the bed but thought nothing of it, now she would be able to eat lunch with her lover, although they weren't dating, they recognized the love they had for each other. Eragon said he was confident that Arya would do the right thing at the right time, but Eragon never told her what the right thing to do was.

Meanwhile, Eragon kicked the books and scrolls under the bed and therefore saving his ass for it to be beaten another day, just not today. "I think something hit me," Arya said.

Nevermind my ass will never see another day, my ass is dead

Arya went to bend down to pick up whatever hit her.

Juice Eragon

"Juice!"

Arya picked herself up from her previous position and looked at Eragon curiously. "Juice?"

Eragon sat on the bed, on the side opposite Arya, nearly tripping on a scroll in the process. "You know what will complete this breakfast, Arya?" Eragon asked as he scooted closer to Arya.

"No, I don't?" Arya said, somewhat confused as to what is happening.

"Juice will Arya!" He exclaimed, getting closer to Arya, but with his hair ending up going over his eyes.

"Right..." Arya said. She then stood up and made to leave but not before saying. "Eragon are you all right?" She asked

"Just fine,"

"All right, just don't forget to take care of personal hygiene in the mornings Eragon," She said, and then she shut the door.

I smell just fine Eragon said smelling his own breath. I forgot to brush my teeth

But first Eragon had to deal with something more important. He pulled the books and scrolls from under the bed with magic and put them in his arms. He also used magic to pick up the remaining books and scrolls and put them in his arms along with the others. So now books and scrolls piled up to push his chin up. He started to walk about the room.

I should've left them under the bed

What comes around comes back around

Yeah obviously that's why it went around to come back

It is a saying Eragon

You're a saying

Now you're just spouting nonsense

You're nonsense

Don't disturb me again

Or what

Or you'll regret it

Regret what

Regret not putting those books back sooner

Wha-

Eragon heard a creak. The door was opening. Eragon had only time to turn around and face the killer of his life.

"Eragon?"

Eragon went to face Arya but stupidly let all of the books and scrolls in his arms fall onto the wooden floor of the room, which allowed Arya to see the contents of everything he was reading, which ranged from history to how to use magic without words.

"Eragon? What is this?" Arya hesitantly asked.

You've really screwed up now Eragon

Shush Kayda

Kayda snorted and returned to her slumber.

"Well, you see Arya, its books...and scrolls..."

"Which are about?"

"Things that a dragon prince like me should know?"

Arya did not say anything for some time but rather stayed there in her position at the door with a look of fury forming on her face.

"All right I know what it looks like, but I haven't practiced it yet,"

He's lying Kayda said, reaching to both Arya and Eragon's minds.

"Damn you Kayda," Eragon softly said. Nevertheless, Eragon continued saying "So I dabbled a little bit into the ancient language and some other subjects, I don't see the harm," He said

"But I do," Arya said quietly. Even if she was quiet, Eragon still felt the heat of her fury from her place at the door. She started to move towards Eragon slowly. Eragon quietly screamed in his head.

Kayda please help me

I don't see the appeal

I'll take out the deer bone that is stuck in the back of your teeth

Hm...deal

Thank you so much my dragon

Arya took another step. Another one. Another one. Another one. She was in front of Eragon now, and the dragon rider could feel the intensity even more so now that she was closer.

"What were you doing with these books and scrolls,"

Eragon trusting Kayda's solution to his problem decided to answer truthfully. "I was practicing,"

"You were practicing in your condition?"

"Correct,"

"You were practicing even when I said you couldn't?"

"Correct,"

"You didn't think to even ask me?"

"You would've said no,"

"I know,"

"You expect me to ask even when I know the answer?"

"Correct,"

"That doesn't seem that fair,"

"You wish to speak of what's fair?!" Arya exclaimed loudly. "You want to know what isn't fair?!"

Eragon didn't say anything. He was too scared. Where is Kayda?!

"I have to be married to someone I barely know just for my mother,"

Eragon still didn't say anything. He had a feeling this is something that Arya has to say.

"And now right after one of the worst moments in my life another one came, you got hurt!" Arya paused for a breath. "And you were taken away from me for a year!"

Eragon sighed. That was a long year.

"And now you're still hurt and you try to hurt yourself more?!" Arya stopped there and went to sit on the bed. She sat there quietly and did not say anything.

You said you were going to help Kayda

An elf was coming your way, I thought he would make it in time

An elf?

He should be here right about...-

A knock came at the door

Now

Eragon looked at Arya and then the door. He let out a deep breath and went to open the door. It was an elf that he had never seen before. He wore very expensive clothes, Eragon could tell. The clothes themselves were green, lined with gold which showed itself in the form of trees which were designed like the trees that stood in Du Weldenvarden.

The elf started the elven greeting which Eragon returned and the elf came with the optional third.

"Greetings Dragon Prince, I am known as Ayen, the heir to the House Valathros,"

So this is who Arya is meant to be married to.

Arya looked over to where Eragon and her husband-to-be were standing. She quickly wiped the tears that had began to seep from her eyes away using her sleeve.

"What do you need?" Eragon asked. He wanted to get swift to the point, he did not want to speak to the person who had stolen his beloved away from him.

"I was wondering if you had seen my beloved, Arya?" Ayen asked.

Eragon sucked in a breath through his closed teeth. Eragon moved out of the way and allowed Ayen in to see Arya.

"What are you doing here?!" He quietly yelled. (A.N. I don't even know anymore) Eragon stepped out of the room and closed the door to allow the two their time uninterrupted.

He heard some yelling inside that he did not want to hear, especially when some of the yellings were about him. So Eragon took his leave and went out and about in the elven city on a beautiful morning.

An elf soon came to him with a message to attend a council meeting that would happen in an hour. The messenger also told him to see if he can tell Ayen and Arya that they are expected to arrive as well.

Eragon sighed. Now he has to deal with two angry elves in one day. Lucky him.

Eragon gave a knock to the door that led to his medic room. He had heard some yelling and accusing in the room and it scared Eragon.

Stupid messenger, I should've just told him where they were and let him handle it himself

Do it quickly then leave

You're not one to be talking about speed Kayda

What do you mean?

You said you would handle the fight between me and Arya and you didn't

I said an elf was coming, I didn't estimate too well

And that elf might've made everything worse

...you're still getting the bone out of my mouth, right?

Seriously? I've just told you all of my problems and you're more concerned about a bone stuck in your teeth

It really aches Eragon

Find an elf to do it for you, elves love dragons here

Eragon shut off the connection until the small tendril remained.

No one opened the door for Eragon. He knocked again. No one opened. Now Eragon took it upon himself to open the door, which he tried. The door was locked.

Screw it He said in his mind with a sigh and used magic to burn the door down, he then stepped into it and saw Arya in bed.

Where's Ayen?

Eragon found Arya sitting on the bed with her hands on her lap. Tears were curving around her cheeks before falling into her hands. But Eragon's eyes were immediately drawn to the red mark on her face. It seems it was in the shape of a hand.

Eragon went over to Arya and sat next to her on the bed. "Arya?"

She gave no response.

Eragon started getting scared. "What happened Arya?" He grabbed her hands tightly to emphasize how much he needed to know.

Arya leaned in his ear and whispered.

Eragon went to the first person he goes to for advice, Oromis. Not before giving Arya to Evandar of course and telling him of the situation. The king said the elf responsible needed to be condemned to death. His wife protested saying that the ties are more important than what was already coming, Evandar and the queen went into a separate room to argue Eragon thought. He left Arya there though, for he thought that Arya being with her parents would be safer than with him. Her mother might be strict and her father too laid back, but they're still her parents, parents would never allow hurt to come to their child, or else they wouldn't be parents after all.

But after giving Arya to her parents, Eragon felt a powerful impulse to kill the person responsible, he felt power go through him in a fit of fury but Kayda talked him out of it, as she took him flying to calm his mind. The flight was a nice change of atmosphere from all the emotion Eragon felt on the ground to how much freedom he felt as he put his hands up and felt the wind make his hair flutter. That's when Eragon felt like he needed a haircut. He was getting too much hair at the age of 15.

When Saphira descended on the grass of Du Weldenvarden, Eragon still felt that impulse to kill but he kept it hidden from Kayda, he did not want his dragon worrying over anything.

But still, this impulse was becoming more and more prominent in his mind and becoming harder to ignore.

Eragon had arrived at the hilltop where Oromis had called home. There was a wooden hut near the end of the hilltop and his golden dragon, Glaedr was napping quietly near the edge of the hill, with a leg and a wing dangling in the air. Eragon made his way over to the wooden hut and found Oromis sitting at a table.

Oromis looked up at Eragon. "Ah Eragon, what brings you here?" He asked in a merry voice.

"Teacher, I seek your advice," Eragon said, bowing his head down.

"On what?"

Eragon had explained the whole situation to Oromis and the wise Rider sat there in silence. He saw Eragon change from somber to anger quickly and as he described his desire to kill, Oromis watched as his arm and leg became perfectly healed and how his right eye became a dark one with a red pupil. The eye of a demon.

When he stopped, he was panting, and the dark eye was still present.

But Oromis had only a few words to say. "The deserved will come to those deserving," Oromis then stood up and went to lay on the bed saying he was tired. He also said Eragon was welcome to stay, but Eragon had understood his master's words perfectly. Eragon shall give the deserved to the deserving.

Eragon was on his way to the palace after his stay at Oromis's hut, to check on Arya.

On the way, Eragon was contemplating everything that was happening in his life.

Eragon had missed one whole year from his life because of damned darkness. He could've spent that whole year, convincing Arya's parents to reject the proposal. If Eragon hadn't fallen from that damned dome, his life and Arya's would have been far better than now. Now Arya has been raped, and Eragon can not even live to his full potential.

Careful little one, one may spend their whole lives focusing on the past and never live to see the present

...how long have you been hoarding this wisdom to yourself?

How is Arya?

I'm finding out now

Come, I shall fly you there

Where even are you?

A roar could be heard from above in the orange sky, the sun was in its reaches of the horizon and darkness was beginning to blend in the sky, but for now, the sky was orange.

Here!

Kayda descended from the sky and landed next to Eragon.

Climb on little one

Eragon did as his dragon said to and together the two flew off to the elven palace

What have you been doing with your time Kayda

Trying to get the bone out of my mouth

And did you?

Yes, but I'm more concerned about you

What about me

Your lust to kill must be lifted Eragon

How am I supposed to do that

I do not know, but I shall help you find the answer, I will not let you become a killing monster

I hope so

I know so

The two had arrived at the elven doors to the castle and Eragon climbed off of Kayda and quickly went inside. No one was inside the throne room but Eragon did not care about the throne, Kayda had said that she had done routine checkups every hour to be sure Arya was okay, but the dragon had also said that Arya misses Eragon. So in Eragon's head, it was a win-win. Eragon gets to make sure Arya is okay and Arya gets to be in Eragon's presence.

Kayda said that Arya was in the medical room that Eragon was staying in, but was surrounded by guards to optimize the protection of the princess.

Eragon quickly arrived at the door that led to Arya's room, or his room. Eragon was confused about the sleep arrangements after all of this ended but that was not a major concern on his mind right now, Arya was. The guards permitted access to the room, Evandar had something to do with that Eragon supposed. Eragon opened the door, hoping that Arya would be sleeping but it seems he was wrong. Very wrong. Very very wrong.

Arya was sitting upright and laid against the bedrest against the wall. She looked over to Eragon with a small smile. It had melted Eragon's heart. He immediately went over and wrapped Arya with a big hug, saying how much he was sorry for what happened to her.

Arya hugged back with a much softer one as she listened to all the things that Eragon had to say.

Eventually, Eragon pulled back and Arya did so as well. Her eyes looked so loving and pure as if she had kept her innocence all along and nothing was wrong with the world. Thinking of the wrongs, Eragon bowed his head before Arya. "I've had terrible thoughts, Arya,"

"I know," She simply said. "It's alright,"

Eragon was perplexed. "How can you be so calm Arya?"

"The deserved shall come to the deserving,"

"Promise?"

"Maybe," Arya said with a small smile.

"He told me the same thing,"

"Why did you visit Oromis?"

"It wasn't for training Arya,"

"I know,"

"It was for advice,"

"I thought you have a dragon,"

"Not all dragons are wise Arya,"

The two shared a laugh at Kayda's expense, the dragon merely snorted outside in the castle courtyard and kept observing the conversation.

"How long have you been in here Arya?"

"Some time, though I was sleeping for most of it,"

At this point, Eragon had an arm around Arya's shoulders and had pushed her towards his body. "You still need a bath Eragon," Arya said jokingly.

"Its been a busy day Arya,"

"Come, I'll draw a bath for you," She said. She released herself from Eragon's grasp and walked over to the bathroom that was the room behind the bedroom.

Would it be weird to be excited about this?

Now that you asked, it is

Damn you

I love you too

Eragon heard a knock at the door and went over to open the door. The one who had knocked was none other than Brom.

Eragon started the traditional elven greeting, which Brom responded with the second line with Eragon giving the third line.

"What do you need at this time Master?" Eragon asked.

"Why weren't you at the meeting earlier?" Brom said inviting himself into the room. Panicking, Eragon quickly went over to the bathroom and closed the door quietly yelling at Arya to "Shut up," which Arya responded with a confused look.

Quickly turning back around to face his master, Eragon said "I had other matters to attend to...why did something important happen?"

"Important can be a word for it I suppose," Brom said.

"You suppose?"

"Come with me Eragon," Brom said, grabbing Eragon's arm and dragging him along with him as the duo left the room.

Why is he just like Arya?

Why are you like this

Meanwhile, Arya came out of the bathroom confused.

"Where'd he go?"

Eragon was still being dragged by Brom as the two went down the halls.

"Where are we going?" Eragon asked, for the tenth time.

"For the last time Eragon, you shall see when we arrive," Brom said, as the door arrived at a set of doors. "Which is now, finally," Brom opened the doors, and as Brom opened the doors, the room inside revealed to be a council room. There was a long table, with the king of the elves, Evandar, with his wife, Islanzadi, on his right side, with the king's long line of advisors on the left and Oromis and two empty seats next to the old Dragon Rider.

Brom gave a bow to the crowd and elbowed Eragon to do the same, which he did after a moment of confusion. "I apologize for taking so long, Eragon was quite hard to find," Brom then stood upright and led Eragon to his seat in between Oromis and Brom. Eragon leaned over to whisper to Oromis.

"What is this for?"

Oromis gave small smile and responded with another whisper: "Your guess is as good as mine, my student,".

Evandar stood up. "I shall get to the point quickly, the demons are coming,"

Eragon froze. The darkness started flooding in through the door. He saw demons walking past him. Eragon closed his eyes. He opened them again and saw chains on the ground. The ground started filling in as grass. Eragon looked up and saw human slaves running away and behind them humans with whips and screams of pain and such. Eragon closed his eyes again and opened.

He was back at the council meeting. Wh had just happened? Eragon did not know. But he was afraid. The darkness came back.

Evandar looked over to Eragon and asked. "Did Vrael say anything else about the demons coming?"

"No, he only said they are coming," Eragon quietly said, looking off into the corner.

Oromis saw this and recognized what was happening. He quickly excused himself and Eragon and had explained everything to Brom by the mind.

Now that the two were outside of the council meeting, Oromis can say what he needs to say. "Eragon, my student, do not fear, the elves and the humans shall end these demons once and for all," He said, in an attempt to cheer up Eragon.

Eragon said nothing. Oromis sighed. "Come I shall take you back to your room, Arya is no doubt wondering where you had gone,"

"I am allowed to tell her right?"

Oromis looked back at his student. While he wasn't technically allowed to, but "Yes, you may,"

Eragon stopped talking after that, opting to follow Oromis instead. The two walked back to the room in mostly silence, with Oromis trying to cheer Eragon but with him staying silent.

The two finally arrived and Oromis knocked on the door. Eragon was looking at the floor. Arya came and opened the door. "Oh you're back," She said.

"I apologize for taking Eragon, we had an important event to handle," Oromis said.

Eragon looked up and smiled at Arya, who returned the smile. But Arya saw the cracks in it.

"Excuse me, I shall take my leave," He said with a bow, and then left promptly afterward. Arya beckoned Eragon to come inside, which he did.

"The bathwater got cold after you left, but I come warm it up again," She said, leaving to the bathroom.

Eragon muttered thanks and stood there. He looked over to the window and walked to it. The night sky, glowing with the moon and the stars, would seem beautiful to anyone else, but all Eragon saw was the darkness. The darkness that would be marching to the land and swallowing him in its reaches. Eragon did not want to be stuck in that same darkness again, not again, not when he has the opportunity to achieve everything he can have. Not when he has the chance to be with-

"Eragon?"

The Dragon Rider in question, turned around to find Arya. "Yes?" He meekly responded.

"The bath is ready," She said, looking at him suspiciously. She would ask Kayda, but Kayda was too busy sleeping.

"Thank you," Eragon made his way to the bathroom. He quickly disrobed and went into the bath.

Nearly 15 minutes later, he was back out but had to ask Arya for his sleeping clothes which she quickly delivers.

Eragon came out and was surprised to see Arya laying in bed. "Arya?" He said.

Arya rolled over to look at him, then quickly stood up to face Eragon. "I don't want to be alone Eragon, so may I...?" Arya trailed off.

"May you what?"

She wants to sleep over you donkey

Thank you Kayda

Now don't interrupt my sleep again

But you-

I said don't

"I understand Arya, it would be an honor to house you," He said with a small smile. Arya gave him a hug conveying her unending gratitude.

"Goodnight Eragon,"

"Goodnight Arya,"

The lights have been turned off. The room was dark. There was only Eragon and Arya inside.

Eragon had thought Arya had gone to sleep immediately so he didn't move, or he thought he would wake her. And he definitely did not want to do that. So he just opted to stay put and stare at the ceiling.

Kayda?

I'm sleeping Eragon

Can I talk to you?

Kayda could tell this was about something important so she agreed.

The demons will never get me right?

Of course not little one

It's been a long day Kayda

I know it has

First with Arya, then with my eye-

What happened to your eye?! Arya's voice sounded through Eragon's mind like an echo.

"Arya?" Eragon said, turning over to Arya.

Arya turned to face Eragon. "What happened to your eye?!" She said behind clenched teeth.

"What were you doing inside my mind?"

"I couldn't sleep,"

"It seemed like you did,"

"Looks can be deceiving Eragon,"

"That's not the point,"

"Correct, the point is what happened to your eye?"

"That's not a point that's a question Arya,"

"Then what is a point,"

"A point would be like, stay out of my mind!" He said, laying down on the bed, on his back.

"Eragon, I'm sorry," Arya quietly said. Eragon didn't turn over, just acted like he was asleep.

"You had the same look that you had when you came back to me a year ago,"

Eragon still didn't say anything.

"I wanted to see what happened to you," She said, laying down on her back. Eragon let out a sigh. He then wrapped his arm around Arya and brought her closer to her body. She didn't protest.

"It's alright Arya, I understand," Eragon said. "But you know, I'll always be there for you, even when it seems like I'm not,"

Arya did not say anything so Eragon thought she had gone to sleep. But she quietly muttered "Promise?" after a few moments.

"Of course,"

The room fell into silence again.

"Eragon?"

"Yes?"

"You'll be there for me right?"

"Always,"

"You'll never leave me right?"

"I promise,"

"I broke the engagement,"

"You did?"

"After you gave me to my parents I argued with them after I woke up and we came to an understanding,"

"Which was?"

"That we would instead focus on reviving the dragon riders,"

"How are you going to do that?"

"Well you know Eragon, most dragon riders are sons and daughters of other dragon riders,"

Eragon became flustered.

Arya had a big laugh. "Don't worry Eragon, we shall not marry...not yet anyway," She laughed again, before snuggling deeper into Eragon's chest.

The room fell into silence again. Time had passed, Eragon knew that, but he didn't know how much, he didn't want to risk sleeping, because what if Arya wants to talk again and he isn't awake. That would be bad. But really, even Eragon knows he's making an excuse. He doesn't want to face the darkness that is indubitably waiting for him in his dreams. Or rather they would be nightmares.

"Eragon?"

"Yes, Arya?"

"You're not sleeping?"

"Not yet,"

"Because?"

"I can't sleep,"

"Because?"

"Stop saying because Arya"

"Because?"

Eragon let out a sigh again. He had lost track of how many sighs he's had.

"Why can't you sleep Eragon?" Arya asked again.

"I don't know,"

"Fine, then at least tell me what happened with your eye,"

"Kayda told me I had it,"

"That doesn't answer the question,"

"The eye was dark with a red pupil, that's what Kayda said,"

"I see and did you feel anything else with this eye?"

"Yes, a lust for death,"

Arya did not say anything. She was probably thinking of the right thing to say, but Eragon knew not what happened in her head.

"You're not a monster, you're Eragon,"

"I know,"

"Anything else Eragon?"

Eragon could tell her about the darkness, but how would she react, knowing that was the same darkness that stole him for a whole year.

"Eragon?"

"Well, there is one thing,"

"Which is?"

"Demons are coming,"

"How do you know this?

"I was told in the meeting,"

"I see, this is what you're scared of Eragon?"

"Well not exactly-"

"Then what?"

"Well, it-"

"What is it?"

"Its-"

"It's what?"

"The darkness!" He exclaimed.

Arya hoisted herself atop Eragon, with her hair covering the two of them like curtains.

"The darkness will never take you away from me Eragon,"

"I know,"

"I won't let it,"

Eragon did not say anything in return but rather stared into Arya's brilliant emerald green eyes. He could lose himself in those eyes forever. Arya let herself fall onto Eragon's lips as the two kissed and all seemed right in the world. Eragon could not concentrate on anything but the love of his life.

Eventually, the kiss ended and as time passed, Arya fell asleep and as time passed again, Eragon fell asleep.

Eragon awoke and found himself in a coffin, and felt that he was being moved. He heard sobs here and there but did not know who was sobbing or why they were sobbing. He assumed it was because he was dead. But who was he?

As he was moved for the last time, Eragon felt heat going all around him until he saw fire on his body, but for some odd reason, he did not feel anything. As flames covered everything he saw, the flames dissipated like a crack of lightning. He found himself charging into battle along with Dragon Riders, with dragons flying overhead, with fire raining down on the army. What were they charging towards? Why are their swords drawn?

Eragon felt himself fall, and blood flowing out of his body, he looked up and saw the definition of death. A demon. Flames covered everything once again as everything started to burn. Eragon closed his eyes to look away from all the pain. He opened them again. He looked down and saw he was kneeling, he looked up and found the same someone in the darkness.

"Father?"

The man in question looked up. "They're coming,"

Eragon was pulled back as his father repeated the words getting louder and louder.

Eragon closed his eyes to make whatever was going to hit him hurt less. But nothing happened. He opened his eyes again.

"Hello there,"

Eragon was standing, on a red carpet in a red room.

Eragon turned around. It was the demon that killed him in that battle.

The demon walked closer. Eragon couldn't move. The dark eyes with the red pupils stood out.

The demon's face got closer to Eragon's as he went to his ear and whispered. "We're coming for you," The demon said.

Everything started to drown in darkness as Eragon could only focus on the demon's cackles as he walked away.

Alright bye bye now
