Somehow everyone made it safely back to South Park. But the presence of Nyarlathotep was creating a great panic that sent everyone on edge. And even though they've managed to get far away from the ruined Church of Starry Wisdom, there was still an unsettling feeling in the air. They weren't safe. It was only a matter of time before Nyarlathotep brought an evil wrath upon their town. Maybe on the whole world… Stan was peering out his window with a nervous look. A lot of houses had their Christmas lights on but it didn't provide too much comfort. Nyarlathotep could strike at any moment now.
Now Stan turned away from the window and looked over to Kyle, Cartman, Butters and even Bradley who were sitting around his living-room, wearing the exact same worried expressions as him. "I think we're okay for now," Stan tried saying reassuringly to them. "I think we better stay inside."
Everyone was silent for a moment. "What's going to happen to all of us now?" Bradley wondered aloud in a whisper.
"Goddamnit! Kenny picked a bad time to go and get himself killed," Cartman said irritably. "Just when you need him the most, Kenny goes and bites the dust. It's so like him…"
"Shut up fatass!" Kyle scolded. Kyle looked concernedly over to Stan who still stood by the window. His best friend wasn't showing it much but Kyle could tell that Stan was silently mourning Kenny… Now Kyle sadly sighed. "I know things look pretty grim right now. But I think its best we stay indoors like Stan said. Lock all the doors and windows and hope for the best…"
"Yeah, you're right Kyle. As long as we stick together, we can get through this," Butters said cheerfully in an attempt to keep up a positive attitude. "As long as we've still got the lights on, Nyarlathotep can't come here, right?"
Just as he said it, at that very exact moment, they were all suddenly plunged into sudden darkness. All electricity went off at once, leaving the five boys sitting around in the dark with shocked expressions. There was silence and then… "You've got to be shitting me. Butters, why did you have to tempt fate? It's so like you!" Cartman complained.
This was bad. Stan looked out the window again and sure enough, the whole neighborhood was cast in darkness. The Christmas lights that once lit up the houses were all off too. South Park had been thrust into complete darkness. "It's another blackout. Just like before!" Stan said.
"Oh geez, do you think the Starry Wisdom cultists did it?" Butters asked.
"Can't be…," Kyle said doubtfully. "I think all the Starry Wisdom cultists perished inside the church when it crumbled to the ground. Nyarlathotep didn't care about destroying his own worshippers."
"But then what did…," Bradley started to say but was quickly interrupted by an eerie sound.
Suddenly they all heard a loud disturbing squeal that seemed to echo out from the outside. It sent chills down their spines and an unnerving sensation of their sanity slipping away. Stan gripped his head; it felt like an invisible fist was squeezing his brain. It took all of Stan's mental willpower to prevent whatever evil power was at work here from breaking his mind. The oppressive headaches seemed to last only a few minutes before it disappeared entirely. As soon as it was over, Stan looked over to his friends.
"Is everyone okay?" Stan called over.
"What was that? It felt like my brain was about to explode just now," Bradley said in a shaking voice. "Are you feeling alright, Butters?"
"Y-Yeah…," Butters said who was still massaging his temple. "What was that? I wasn't the only one who felt that, right?"
"No. Damn, my head won't stop pounding. I think I need Tylenol," Cartman said while rubbing his head. "You okay there, Kahl?"
"Yes…," Kyle replied. But after a minute of waiting for the pain in his head to subside, he finally looked over at the others. "It was Nyarlathotep. He must have attacked our power station again. This is it. Nyarlathotep is finally making his move."
At that very moment, they heard somebody coming down the stairs. They all turned to see Stan's dad Randy coming down the stairs with a flashlight in hand. "What's going on? Why are all the lights out?" he asked them.
Nobody said anything for a moment. "We…we think it was Nyarlathotep," Stan finally admitted. "He's caused another blackout. The whole town is shrouded in darkness."
"Dammit," Randy cursed. "This is not good. The whole town is already in an uproar as it is. Alright listen, you boys stay here inside the house. I have to go pick up your mom from her friend's house." Randy grabbed his car-keys and started to the door. "In the meantime, I think you better light some candles and…"
Without warning, Randy stopped in mid-sentence and stood perfectly still. "Uh…dad?" Stan slowly approached him. "You okay? Dad?" But then Stan became perturbed by his dad's sudden and unexpected laughter. Now they were all unnerved when Randy's behavior started to take a turn for the worse. "Dad? What are you…?"
Laughing crazily, Randy seemed to lose his mind on the spot. Now they all watched in horror as Randy still laughing manically proceeded to take out Stan's old baseball bat and went tearing outside the door. "Jesus Christ! Not the bat again!" Stan cried in alarm. "Dad wait! Stop! Don't smash anything with it! Dad!"
Stan tried going after his dad but was stopped by Cartman who grabbed his arm. "No good, Stan. Your dad is too far-gone," Cartman said with a serious frown. Sure enough, Stan and Cartman heard the sounds of his dad smashing nearby cars while laughing insanely.
"Oh my god! Guys, come look at this!" Butters cried who'd been looking out the window. Soon they were all looking out the window to witness the complete chaos that was happening out on the streets.
It was like the whole town had gone to hell. Everyone was committing all kinds of atrocities. Breaking and looting houses and stores, townspeople assaulting each other with impunity, buildings being set on fire, and property being vandalized and destroyed. In that moment, Stan and the others realized that Nyarlathotep has once again created chaotic insanity in their town. Suddenly a crazy guy came barging into the house with a torch in hand and immediately tried setting fire to Stan's furniture. Luckily Kyle got to him first and delivered a punch to the guy's face to stop him. And then Cartman grabbed the guy and tossed him bodily out of the house and slammed the door shut.
Stan hurried to pick up the torch and was thinking of putting it out in the sink when he saw Kyle, Cartman, Butters and Bradley already heading for his backdoor. "Where are you guys going?" he asked.
"I'm going home," Kyle told Stan. "I have to make sure my parents are okay and Ike too. I don't think it's safe, not even in our own homes."
"Be careful out there," Stan warned his friends while seeing them out the backdoor. "I don't know how we're going to put a stop to the madness this time. This is Nyarlathotep's doing." But Stan added. "There's only one person who can take on Nyarlathotep… Stan waited for his friends to leave before finally deciding to take action himself.
Running back up to his bedroom, Stan quickly changed into his own crime-fighter alter-ego, Toolshed. With that, he armed himself with the finest tools of the trade. He even took his trusty lock pick that he bought for a nice price on the internet. Stan attached his tool-belt to his jeans where he decided to take his sledgehammer in case he needed to defend himself. Putting on his protective goggles that served as his mask, Toolshed decided to spring into action. He would try to do what he can to help the citizens of South Park. But for now, there was one place Stan needed to visit first…
As soon as he left the safety of his house, Toolshed found himself smacked right in the middle of all the chaos and destruction. It was worst than he thought out here. There was only one way to snap someone out of their frenzied state of mind and that was a good knock to the head. Toolshed punched another guy to stop him from attacking people with a meat-cleaver. Next Toolshed roughly pulled a crazed man away from terrorizing a mother and her child before punching him in the gut to stop his rampage. If Toolshed had to, he would fight his way to the McCormick residence on the poorest side of town.
…
Meanwhile, Kyle and Cartman were also fighting their way through the neighborhood. Along the way, Kyle had to push Cartman out of the way as a car came swerving uncontrollably over the pavement and crashed into somebody's garage. As they watched further on, a woman went over to the crashed car, pulled the driver out, and then proceeded to start stealing the car radio. Kyle was absolutely appalled by this and wanted to go put a stop to it. But Cartman was already dragging Kyle away and reminding him that they needed to get back to their houses.
"Psst! Hey! Over here!" somebody shouted over the loud commotion. There Kyle and Cartman spotted Craig wildly motioning for them to come inside his house. "Get in here! Quick!" Craig urged them.
Kyle and Cartman decided to take refuge in Craig's house. As they hurried inside, Craig locked the front-door. Clyde, Token, Tweek and Jimmy were here as well and they gathered around Kyle and Cartman. "There's no help coming, is there?" Token said gravely. "I called the police twice but I only got crazy shrieking as an answer."
"Nothing we can do except lock ourselves in our houses and pray that somebody doesn't come along and burn it to the ground," Clyde said fretfully.
"But what if the madness never ends?" Tweek pointed out worriedly. "What if it never stops? I can't stand it any longer! All those poor souls succumbing to utter insanity. What if we're all slowly losing our minds?"
"It'll be okay, babe," Craig said soothingly, placing his arm around Tweek's waist. After calming his boyfriend's high-strung nerves, Craig turned to Kyle and Cartman. "So where are the others?"
"We were over at Stan's house," Kyle replied. "But once all this craziness happened, we all went our separate ways. We're on our way home now. I want to make sure Ike is okay. Mom and dad too."
Jimmy had been keeping watch near the window but suddenly called over to Kyle. "Hey Kyle… Isn't that y-y-your dad out there?"
"Huh?" When Kyle went over to look out the window, sure enough, he spotted his own dad driving by in a stolen go-kart, laughingly running people over while high on cat-pee. "Oh for the love of…," Kyle slapped his forehead in embarrassment.
Cartman couldn't help but let out a laugh. "Weak dude. At least your dad is having fun, Kahl."
But then Jimmy gave Cartman a nudge. "Your mom is out there t-t-t-too, Eric. See?"
Cartman's smile fell when he saw his own mother running around in the middle of the street, bare-naked and also laughing and shaking her boobs at anyone willing to look at them. "Goddamnit mom!" Cartman cursed under his breath.
"Looks like your mom is enjoying herself too," Kyle couldn't resist sassing Cartman back.
Then Jimmy turned to Kyle. "Have any of you seen "My-My- Mysterion" yet?" he asked hopefully
But as Kyle gazed out the window at all of the destructive mayhem going on out there, Kyle sadly shook his head. "Mysterion is…dead, Jimmy. Our hope is hanging on by a thread." Who knew how long this chaos and disorder would last. But if something wasn't done, South Park would surely perish.
