6:59 pm

Annalise heard some footsteps as she almost bumped into the new teacher.

7:00 pm

"Ooompf- What are you- Oh dear.. Mr. Von Trapp.. what on earth are you doing here? You're supposed to be in the dinning room." the old housekeeper said as she brush her dusty apron.

"I am going there, Mrs. Moser - but the villa is big enough to be a maze." Georg said as he fixed his shoes, "And I'm sorry for my clumsiness."

Annalise looked at him sympathetically and shook her head, "Go straight there, turn left. eleventh door on the right."

Georg thanked her as he started running towards there.

7:01 pm

Turn left- holy crap why is this hall so long… he thought as he started counting doors.

7:02 pm

Seven….. nine…. Ten.. ah-.. eleven.. he thought as he knocked on the closed door and entered, Oh shit.. eleventh door to the right.

He turned and looked at the opposite side. The doors are opened and it gives a clear view of Maria and the kids waiting for him.

"Wrong door, Mr. Von Trapp?" asked Maria as he entered the room.

Georg looked at her as he smiled, "Just checking."

Maria looked at her wrist watch, "You are two minutes late."

"I got lost on the paintings." Georg admitted as he sat on his chair, hearing a fart sound.

He moved in his chair, and heard another fart sound.

Feeling a bit embarrassed, he looked at the other end where looked at him with raised eyebrows slightly agape mouth that she closed immediately the moment he saw.

The children exchanged glances as Georg took a deep breath, another fart sound.

"Von Trapp… if you need to go to the bathroom, we will try to wait for you." Maria said as folded her hands on the table.

Georg looked at her and the children as he stood up, another fart sound.

"Von Trapp.." he heard his current employer called, "That's the way to the kitchens. The bathroom's the other way."

He gave a brief nod before he started to walk, and surprisingly heard another fart.

7:08 pm

Maria and the children waited quietly as the new teacher walked back, slightly wet.

"Have you destroyed the faucet?" she asked as he sat.

"No, Ms. Rainier. Just- uh…. hyperhidrosis." he mumbled as patted his slightly wet hair.

Maria only raised her eyebrow as she started filling her own plate, and so do the children followed by the new teacher.

She was about to take a bite when Georg cleared his throat, "Aren't we supposed to thank the Lord, ?"

The children looked at their mother as Maria motioned him to lead.

"For what we receive, may the Lord make us truly thankful." he looked at Maria and ended, "Amen."

Everyone started eating when Georg speak, "I'd like to thank you all for the precious companion you left at the back of my door today."

"What companion, Mr. Von Trapp?" asked Maria.

Georg swallowed his food and said, "It's a secret between me and the children, ."

"Then you better keep it because no one asked for it." Maria snapped as she continued eating.

But instead of keeping it, Georg continued to speak, "Knowing how new I must have been, a stranger in this new environment of learning…. knowing how important it was for me to feel comfortable." he drink the water and pretended to not taste the salty sensation as he swallowed, "It was so kind and thoughtful of you to make my first moments here so alike to my daily life before today."

"Mr. Von Trapp.. is it customary to the place where you came from to disobey rules and talk unnecessary topics while on the dinner table?" Maria asked, clearly annoyed.

Georg shook his head, "On what's customary, however, is to do what is right and to engage conversations in order to prevent future relationship conflicts."

Elisabeth and Frederick exchanged looks as they turn their heads back and forth to the two adults.

"But this is my house and my rules are what's right." Maria said as she took a bite on her meal.

Georg swallowed his and he said, "No they're not... if they're set to make you feel superior."

"They are set for a reason and that's to maintain discipline, without which the house cannot be run." Maria said as she casted a cold look to him, "I don't need to set rules to flatter myself, Von Trapp."

"And who gives the punishment if one disobeys?"

Maria looked at him as she smiled, "Those who disobeys punished themselves by not obeying in the first place. As a person of your profession, you already know what I mean."

Georg was silenced as he realized her point.

Classroom rules are set to develop discipline to students and if one disobeys, it doesn't make the teacher look so superior at all.

Maria looked at his mind work as she took a sip on her water. Satisfied by her victory.

The rest of the dinner is served with silence and mixed tensions between the two adults and their audience. They're now eating desserts when the phone around the corner ring.

Maria dabbed the napkin on her face and she stood up to take the call.

Georg watch the children exchange glances and steal looks to their mother, as if they're communicating with their eyes.

Maria ended the call with a nod as she sat back to her seat.

"Children, my flight to New York has been moved tomorrow morning." she said as she continued eating her dessert.

Martha placed a pout on her face as she exclaimed, "Not again, mother!"

Maria looked shocked to her youngest reaction as Elisabeth and Frederick tried to avert their mother's attention with questions.

"To visit the hotels again?"

"How long will you be gone this time?"

Maria raised her eyebrows as she nodded, "As a matter of fact, yes, Frederick. And I'm not so sure, Elisabeth."

"Why can't I ever go with you?" Martha asked as her mother looked at her.

Elisabeth attempted to avert her mother's attention again as she asked, "Will you be seeing Aunt Margaretta?"

Maria placed her hand on her temple as she groaned, "I'll be bringing your aunt here when I returned so no more questions, please."

Elisabeth and Frederick exchanged happy glances as Martha seemed to cheer up a bit, even if her mother brushed her question.

Georg didn't miss the slight disappointment and sadness on the four-year-old as he turned his gaze to the woman who called herself a mother.

Is this the warm, humble orphan Helena told me she met at the orphanage? Does death hit her hard enough to make her brush her own child- children away? he thought as he finished his dessert.

"Lissy?" Martha asked as she was tucked in to bed, "Is mother angry at me?"

"What made you think so sweetie?" Elisabeth asked as she exchanged looks with Frederick.

Martha frowned as she squeeze her pillow, "She didn't answer my question… I just want to go to her.. You and Freddy already see the hotels. I want to see it too."

Frederick caress his little sister's head as he kissed her forehead, "Mother's just stressed, Martha. She's been working so hard."

"She always work so hard. What if she fell ill just like what happened to teddy?" the youngest asked, "Mrs. Moser told me that teddy fell ill because he and me work too much. What if mother work too much and fell ill too?"

The twins exchanged looks as Martha asked, "Too much and so hard are the same thing right?"

Elisabeth nodded as she, also, planted a kiss to her sister's forehead, "Mother is strong, Martha. She never fell ill. Now, it's time to sleep. You sure, you don't want a bedtime story?"

Martha shook her head as she slowly close her eyes, "Goodnighty."

"Goodnight." Elisabeth and Frederick chorused as they left Martha's room.

While heading to their own room, Frederick asked, "Do you think it's possible?"

"Do I think what's possible?"

"That mother fell ill?" Frederick asked, "I mean- she's isolating herself."

Elisabeth rolled her eyes, "She always isolate herself… Christmas is near and so as Martha's birthday. And you also know what happened on Martha's birthday."

Frederick frowned, "If she's leaving.. maybe we could visit dad's grave?"

"How are we suppose to sneak out- with Martha- when we have a new teacher? You said it yourself hours ago, he's tough. He didn't even react to the salty water and mayonnaise doughnuts." Elisabeth sighed, "And I'm running out of ideas to make him go away. He argues with mother and yet she keeps him around. I slightly expected her to sack him when he was late."

"Or when we he started 'farting'?" Frederick laughed as his twin playfully smacked his arm, "You have to admit it's funny though.."

"Yes it is.." Elisabeth shrugged, "I don't know how he's not soaking wet when he came back though. Did you fill the water?"

"It's heavy and dripping when full." Frederick mumbled, "It's half-full though. I'm surprised either."

"Then he thanked us for the white lady."

"I think he's used to pranks." Frederick said.

Elisabeth frowned, "So you really think we should keep him?"

Frederick thought for a while, "Just to think of it. When mother left at the day.. and knowing how he argues with her.. we can persuade him into bringing us to the cemetery to visit dad."

"And if we got caught?"

"Then we can blame him and got him fired. You know mother's top rule is to not let us leave the house. You wanted him sacked, we can wait until Martha's birthday and use him to bring us to dad." Frederick mumbled, "It will cheer Martha up. She wanted to see his grave."

Elisabeth thought of his plan for a moment before she smiled, "Since it's you who got the idea, you'll be the one who's going to persuade him."

"What? Lis, you're the one who's making plans everytime and it's me who got to do them-"

"Those plans are accompanied with your approval. I still don't approve of this plan but it has potential. If you managed to do the big step, I'll run us till the end." Elisabeth said as she opened her door, "And if there's trouble, do you have a plan with that? What if mother didn't leave? What if she fired him before Martha's birthday? How will he get us out of here? What about Martha? She'll ask you tons of question."

Frederick frowned as he heard her sister bid, "Goodnight," before closing her door.

He made it to his own room and sort out his ideas.

Both teenagers are oblivious to the man hiding in the shadows outside their bedroom.

Maria turned and toss around as she finally stood up sweaty on the bed.

Her bed.

Not his bed.

The bed they shared is up on the attic, probably collecting dust and cobwebs.

She can't sleep in that bed.

The bed they shared.

She can't sleep in any other bed.

In fact she can't sleep at all.

Sleep never find her easily for the past four years.

She can still hear the gunshot, even in her dreams, whether they're night or day dreams.

The shot is always there.

It's my fault…. she thought.

He'll still be alive if he didn't left the army.

He'll still be alive if she's not with the child at the time.

She got up and took the sleeping pills on the bedside table.

As much as how she hates in taking them, she knows she should.

She needs to sleep or else she can't concentrate on her meeting tomorrow. Nor she can't hide her true self if she didn't get the sleep.

I will never break… she thought as she took two pills, I won't fall down just like any other widows…

She swallowed the pills and waited for it to take effect.

As she waited, she thought of the new teacher.

Unlike the others, he didn't cower when she's around.

He starts an argument by not obeying simple rules.

And yet why didn't she sacked him when he refused to ring the damn bell.

Maria have no idea.

Maybe because he reminds her a lot of her husband.

But that's not the point.

She avoid the children because they remind her the most of him.

And yet why did she not sack him?

Is it because she enjoys their argument?

Sure I did… since I've won the second round, she thought as she shook her head.

Does enjoying an argument to a mere stranger means that she should keep him as someone to educate her children?

She frowned as she felt sleep slowly going in her system.

He argues like Dominik… she mused as she finally succumbs to a deep slumber.
