Three days passed in a blur as Georg spent the days wandering around the villa. He brought the modern clothes last friday and he hoped it will satisfy his employer's taste.
Because clothes here are as expensive as fuck… now where am I… he thought as he looked around.
Such a beautiful scenery.
Georg is used to the life in the ocean, he never fully appreciated the life surrounded by land nature…
Not until today… he thought as he made his way into the gazebo nearby. Taking in the sight of the trees and wet leaves.
He gave himself deep breaths as he enjoy the sounds surrounding the place.
The birds and….. actually just the birds but still-
It makes you feel freedom even in the most tight times… he thought as he stood up.
This is what those children haven't experienced in a long time…
If not worse, never experienced. he added as an idea entered his mind.
For the past three days, he observed the three children whenever he got the chance.
Martha feels comfort around him but she cowers around other staffs and only speaks to him and to her sisters.
Frederick always got himself in trouble, mostly for pranking staff people, but he always carried himself….
In a very guile way, Georg added as he sighed.
And Elisabeth…
Out of all three she's the hardest to read.
She reminds Georg of himself when he was her age.
And she also kinda reminds Georg of her mother.
On what he saw that is identical on their eyes, whenever they look at a window or door, is the longing for freedom.
Looking around again, he nodded to himself as he jogged back to the villa, planning his lessons inside his head.
"I trust you have some clothes that are suitable for the outside weather?" Georg asked as he looked at the clock, "We have two hours till lunch."
"If it escaped your notice, Mr. Von Trapp.. we don't go-"
"Out... particularly outside this small world of yours. Yes- Elisabeth.. I absolutely know that but I am the professor here and in a real school, if the professor tells you to go out…" Georg looked at the twins as he continued, "You go out.
He let the information sink in for a moment before he clapped his hands, "Now, fetch little Martha and be on your outdoor clothes, meet me downstairs after ten minutes. Don't worry we're not leaving your house, we'll just walk around the grounds of it."
Elisabeth and Frederick exchanged looks as Frederick shrugged and obliged.
The eldest look at their teacher as she sighed, "You know mother can fire you if I tell her you'll do this."
"Oh don't worry, I'm not scared of losing my job. As long as my students would appreciate what I teach them." he said as he observed the young lady stood tall.
"But whatever you're going to teach is not in our curriculum."
Georg smiled, Like mother… like daughter, "Yes it's not but school and teachers are there to educate students, not only about the curriculum, but also about life. And right now, I'll get my role as a second parent to show you some life you've been missing inside this house."
"So you think me and Fred don't know life outside these walls?" Elisabeth asked.
Georg shook his head, "I know you two knew enough about what's outside these walls. With those sneaky tricks, I would bet a lot. Now, what you and your brother must know is that life is not always out of sheer seriousness."
"But if you're not serious, there's a possibility you'll get yourself in trouble." Elisabeth said in a matter-of-factly tone.
Georg smirked, "You're right… but not a whole biography is filled with problems, isn't it? There are certain moments in life that are enjoyable with less seriousness and that's what you, your brother and your little sister never experienced fully yet. Maybe sometimes you would get the grasp of it by pranking but that's not the only way to achieve those moments."
He observed the young lady take in the information as he nodded, "Now get yourself into fine clothes and I have a lesson to teach. You have seven minutes left."
Elisabeth slowly walk away as she let out a sigh.
That guy, their new teacher… he's not only smart, he also cared.
She's been observing him for days and she saw nothing but the differences he possess compared to other teachers she and her brother got.
And he asked what course do I really want to take… she mused as she remembered their first moments inside the library.
.
"Okay, Elisabeth- or Elise… what course do you want to take?" he asked.
Without missing a beat, she said, "Business Management and after that… Accounting."
Georg shook his head, "I mean- what you want. Not what people expect you to study…"
.
The more Elisabeth think about it. The more she felt care from the new teacher.
.
"I'll get my role as a second parent to show you some life you've been missing inside this house."
.
She sighed as she reached her bedroom, Now where's that jumper dress from Aunt Margaretta….
"Now children, when we reached our destination, I would not want to hear a single noise." Georg said as he lead the way to the spot he found this morning.
Elisabeth and Frederick exchanged looks as they walk while Martha have springs on her steps as she look around, fascinated on the trees.
Once they've reached the gazebo, everyone sat down and felt instantly comfortable.
The sound of birds still fill the place, joined with the rustling of the leaves that are wet, causing for a cold humid air.
Elisabeth and Frederick smiled as they remember the place well.
This gazebo where their father used to sit and just relax.
They would often see their parents dancing around this place and those times were the happy times.
Elisabeth can't help but to shed a tear when the memory of their happy mother got in to her mind.
She felt Frederick holding her hand as she know he's fighting back his own tears.
Looking at her little sister, she smiled.
Martha's never been in this place. Never been out of the Villa.
She's observing everything intently with a wide smile that never leave her face.
Looking at Mr. Von Trapp, she realized he's been watching the two of them as he motioned for the tears in her eyes.
Elisabeth brushed the tears as she looked around, This place hasn't changed a bit…
Georg cleared his throat as he said, "Now children, based on your expressions, can you please tell how do you feel right now?"
"Fun!" Martha exclaimed as she smiled at Georg, "Why can't we have these inside the house, Professor Georg?"
"Because, Martha.. trees need soil, water and sunlight to live." Frederick said.
"What is soil?" Martha asked.
Georg smiled as he and the twins answer each question Martha can throw. After that, he turned to the two.
Frederick is the first to talk, "It's refreshing. We haven't left the house in quite a while."
Turning to Elisabeth she sighed, "I admit.. it's.. nice being here again."
Georg hung on the word again, as he was about to speak when his cellphone ring.
Looking at it, he can't help but groan inwardly.
Ms. Rainier
For a moment I forgot that this woman is a dragon… he thought as he answer.
"Mr. Von Trapp, did I not tell you that my children are not to leave the villa?" her calm, firm and bossy tone spoke.
Georg looking around he said, "You did, Ms. Rainier."
"Do you, or do you not, have difficulty remembering such simple instructions?"
Looking at the children he said, "No, ma'am. The children and I are still at the Villa, we are not just inside your house."
"So as I heard. I thought you already understood what we talked about before I left." he heard her hissed.
Georg sighed as he said, "I understood, Ms. Rainier but I'm afraid shall not oblige. The library is too…. tacky for a learning environment, even I can't do my job properly with the lack of sunlight and comfort."
There's silence on the other line as he waited for her response.
"Mrs. Rainier, Mr. Von Trapp, this is your first… warning. You are not to bring my children outside again, do you understand?" she said.
Georg only hummed as he heard her hung up.
Looking at the children, he shrugged.
"Let's get back and see what the chef got for us today, shall we?" he said as they stood up.
Martha tugged on his hand as he looked at her, "Yes, Martha?"
"Will we be back here again?"
Georg looked at the twins and to the surroundings as he said, "As long as the bird don't mind."
