Mob at the Charming's house
Jade Star asked for a oneshot of *season 6 spoilers!* Emma being weak from battling Hyde/EQ. The townspeople are demanding help in Storybrooke. Snowing come home with baby Neal to find the chaos. Snow goes into mama bear mode with Emma and is furious with the townspeople.
Two hours previously
"I'm still not sure we should leave her on her own." Charming said apprehensively as he got into the car beside Snow, Neal already in the backseat.
"Neither am I." Snow agreed. "But Emma's insisting we get ourselves and Neal out of the house for a few hours. She says the protective spells around the house will stop any villains getting in, but I still don't feel good about leaving her on her own when she's so weak right now. We'll take Neal to the park and get some groceries and then come straight home. That should stop her getting on at us to leave."
"Good plan." Charming said, fastening his seatbelt. The sooner he and Snow were home, the happier they'd both be. Little did either of them know that it wasn't the villains they had to worry about. It was everyone else.
Now
Snow and Charming arrived back to find half of Storybrooke screaming and yelling at their front door. That could not be anything good. They pulled up outside and got out, with Charming getting Neal out his car seat. The closer they got, the more they were able to make out, and the more panicked they could see Emma standing at the front door.
"You're the Saviour! You're supposed to be out here catching these villains!"
"Homes are being destroyed, shops broken into. What are you going to do about it, sheriff?"
"Who are all these newcomers? Do we have enough space for them all? Will they steal our jobs?"
"ENOUGH!" Snow bellowed. The crowd fell silent. Snow and Charming pushed their way to the front. Charming wrapped a protective arm around Emma, who leaned into him. Charming was furious. She was shaking. "Emma has given her all to this town over the last few days. Can't you all see that? Do you really think standing here intimidating her is the best way for her to heal up so she can go back to doing her job?" Snow could see most of the crowd beginning to look guilty. "Go home. All of you. You have ten seconds before I lose my temper completely." The crowd immediately began to disperse, knowing how nasty Snow could be when she had to. Charming, by this point, had led Emma back inside and onto the couch. He had draped a blanket around her and had stuck the kettle on to get her some tea. Snow came over and sat beside her. She tucked some hair behind Emma's ear.
"You ok?" Snow asked gently. Emma nodded, but it was clear to both her parents that the ordeal had shaken her slightly. Snow looked to Charming.
"We're not leaving her alone again until she's completely better." Snow said firmly.
"I'm right here you know!" Emma complained.
"Agreed." Charming said to Snow. If they hadn't arrived when they did, who knows what might have gone wrong? Would the mob have forced their way into the house? Would they have taken Emma and tried to make her solve their problems?
"Guys, I'm fine." Emma complained. "It was just a crowd control problem…"
"No it wasn't, Emma." Snow said seriously. "It was people in this town overstepping the mark. Yes, you might be the Saviour, and yes, you might be co-sheriff. But right now you aren't well enough to fulfil either of those roles and they're just going to have to put up with it."
"Otherwise they'll have us to deal with instead." Charming said threateningly as he placed a hand on Snow's shoulder. Emma didn't argue back, it was pointless. Her parents had clearly made their minds up and that was that. Emma supposed it could be worse. Sure, sometimes it felt like her parents cared too much, but it was better than them not caring at all.
