Snowing's second chance

MiniMimi asked for a oneshot of Snow getting to the tree before Emma is born. When Emma breaks the curse at 28 she is ages back so she and Charming can have a chance at living together.

Twenty-eight years was a long time to wait until you saw your true love again. Snow White felt every single one of those days. She knew it must be worse on Emma. Snow had made sure she grew up hearing all about her father and how amazing he was. Sure, as Emma got older the stories felt less and less plausible and she clearly didn't believe her mother's tales anymore. That was until they found themselves in Storybrooke, Maine for Snow to get a position as a teacher. They had packed up their bags from where they were settled in Louisville, Kentucky and trusted that there was something for both of them in this tiny town. That's where they saw him again…and he hadn't aged a day.

Snow felt unworthy of him now. Twenty-eight years of mothering, of worrying and fretting about this curse, had taken their toll on her body. Her once smooth skin was covered in wrinkles. Her black as raven hair peppered with grey. That didn't mean Emma was giving up hope though. Her mom had spent nearly thirty years still devoted to her dad. If anything it made Emma more determined to break this stupid curse (which she could no longer deny as being fantasy). Surely if her dad loved her as much as her mother made out, her being older wouldn't change anything. If her mom being older stopped him loving her, then what chance did Emma have of him wanting to get to know her?

The curse was broken, and the realisation was a difficult one. Snow still felt unworthy of Charming's love. Regina had ruined her life completely as well as her daughter's. So it was to Snow's surprise that Charming told her that he didn't care how old she was. They had always said they'd grow old together, so what did it matter if she was older first? In front of the whole town, Charming then kissed his wife, and right before everyone, the years just seemed to…melt away from Snow. When Charming pulled back, there was complete shock in his eyes. Snow felt the skin on her face, checked her hair for the usual grey streaks. Nothing. Emma just stared at her mother. How could this be possible? They were the same age! Snow kissed Charming once more before they both looked at Emma.

"I know this is going to be difficult." Snow said gently. "But I'm still your mother. It's still me, baby." Emma nodded, but didn't approach either of her parents. This was going to take time, and they all knew it. But at least now, they had a chance.
