Real diner dash
Lea asked for a oneshot of Snowing helping Granny and Red at the diner on what ends up being the busiest day of the year. Charming helping Granny in the kitchen and Snow helping Red with orders.
"I need another sit in cheeseburger and fries!" Snow called, slapping the order up on the wall beside the long list of others. Granny just nodded calmly, continuing to flip the burgers already frying in the pan. Meanwhile Snow could see that Charming was beginning to flap as he frantically tried to prepare all the fries needed for the mountain of orders coming through. Both he and Snow were regretting their generosity in offering to help their old friends in the diner for the day since they were short-staffed. Charming was in the kitchen with Red helping with some of the food, doing the dishes (which involved quick fixing of the temperamental dishwasher). Snow was out front with Red, taking the orders and ringing up the bills on the terribly slow cash register. Snow and Charming had no idea how they did this every day without having a mental breakdown! It was far too stressful! What with rude customers, old technology and it being the busiest day of the year so far, Snow and Charming just didn't know how Granny and Red coped. But neither batted an eye, they just got on with it.
When Snow and Charming finally had a moment to talk, they were both exhausted…and the day wasn't even half over.
"I think I'd rather go back to running a kingdom than do this every day." Charming panted. His hair was all messed up and his face red from the steam of the dishwasher. "Far less stressful."
"And less rude people too." Snow added. "People didn't dare argue with me over prices when I was their queen! It's the people who try and haggle the prices down after they've eaten!" Snow sighed and rolled her eyes. "Yeah, this definitely isn't as easy as I thought it was going to be."
"We need you back guys." Red said, popping her head through the door of the little staffroom. "It's getting manic again."
"We'll be right out." Snow said, forcing a smile for her old friend, when really she and Charming would rather run for the hills. But they went back out, and they got through the rest of the day. Really after all Granny and Red had done for them over the years it was the least they could do…although it was safe to say next time they might be busy.
