ISMKPG: fourteen

Maria sighed as she slowly grace herself around the small rooftop greenhouse while sipping on her cup of tea. It's been a long time since she laid a sight on the place, neither stepped on its ground to be part of the silence that surrounds it.

A part of nature on your rooftops is the last thing a person would have unless they're botanists who love rooftop labs or a gardener who has no backyard nor front yard to grow their own nature.

Gardens, or greenhouses, are supposed to be on the ground but Maria knew better that the best way to enjoy nature is when it's somewhere that can lead you higher… like it wanted you to go through the clouds, somewhere like a mountain.

Growing up as an orphan in the countryside, Maria is accustomed to nature and somehow, despite her long absence to its presence, will always be.

Starting with the tall trees, ticklish grass, beautiful flowers and just whatever bump the earth has on its surface… it makes a scenery that Maria always wanted to be with. And to be with it shall she be because as soon as she learned singing she would go up on the scenery everyday to sing whatever song she think of and be part of the blue skies, green environment and fragrant atmosphere.

Everyday in her early years, she would sneak out of the orphanage and go up on the mountains to sing or to watch other people sing while eating something on top of a tree, other people like the nuns or sometimes the construction workers on the opposite side but mostly the nuns.

That mountain became one of her favorite things after her parents died and nature became a major part of her life as time passed. Actually, nature is already a big part of her life ever since she was born.

So much so that when she went to a rural place, she felt lost and- somehow not herself.

Maria swore that if it isn't for her acceptance that ghosts are real, she would totally think that her parents blessed her with a gift and a curse of being at her best when she's with mother earth, the mountains particularly.

She smiled as she twirl around the place, chuckling at herself.

It's much more better if you do it on the mountains without a cup and a saucer on your hands, she thought as she looked at the clear skies.

Smiling as the transparent roof made it possible for her to watch snow fall and also to see the sun slowly peaking at the horizon.

Another reason why they put a small greenhouse on rooftops, you can watch many things in higher grounds.

For instance, it's not only the snow and the sun Maria can see, she can also have a glimpse of the backyard and her eyes will never miss the familiar body walking with a mug of coffee.

Remembering the main reason why she got a courage to come back at her secret place, Maria sat on the cold bench, facing the transparent wall that gives the view of sunrise. Two men battling inside her mind.

The first one is Dom.. her dear beloved Dominik.

What would he think if he discovered that she's now wanting to be with another man's presence? And yes- she thought, he reminds me a lot of you, Dom… Only that he's alive and have a whole different things that affected me in a way you never did when you're still living…

The last seven nights is a pure headache for Maria, except for last night. She gave up those pills since she remembered a lot temporary memory loss and she know that it'll ll worsen if she kept on taking a pill for every second, every minute and every hour of her sleep. But followed that are nightmares, or just distracting dreams

Every since their argument when she accidentally called him with her first husband's name, Maria's dreams shifted from that moment to a sudden sweet moment between her and the professor. Nothing malicious, just having momengs with each other, holding hands or being close.

Every since that day in the gazebo, her dreams turned from innocent moments to kissing, touching and being so literally close to each other. She would often hear his voice calling her 'darling', 'sweetheart', 'my dear Maria', and even 'pet'. Then she would hear herself moaning his name as she would feel his touches and kisses as if they're real.

So real that she can feel the emptiness, loneliness and cold air once her eyes open.

After first, she felt guilty… then Margaretta's words hung on her head.

"It's been five years since Dominik passed, Maria… and I'm sure he won't mind if you found yourself a new husband and a new father figure for the children."

Almost the same as Dominik's words in his will.

"If you are reading this, then probably I died unplanned. People in business with certain people always have to possess a will prepared incase of untimed deaths. Now, I wrote this after me and my dear wife Maria got a glimpse of our third kid so I know I should update this. Just like the previous one, if ever I die.. sixty percent of my money goes to the children, should always be fair cut no matter their age while the rest goes to my wife, Maria Rainier. The hotels are now to be owned by my wife, all six of them. I completely trust her abilities to run our establishments and I hope to those who assume that they shall respect my wishes. The Villa and the house in Paris also belonged to Maria while the two houses in Italy are to my twins, Elisabeth and Frederick and the one in Spain for my darling Martha. The Villa in Scotland shall belong to my dear mama but since I didn't find her yet, I'll leave it here on the will. If ever I die not finding her, Maria, my dear… you know what to do. The other properties that I didn't mention will belong to my darling wife. If I die before our second daughter's born, please don't stop yourself from finding love again. Our story is a rocky start and I'm sorry you're stuck to someone like me. I'll be happy if you find your love and I'll be more happier if he's someone who cares a lot to our children. For my darling Elisabeth, you can't use something to escape your problems. You have to face them. For my dear son, Frederick, a man and a boy is also allowed to cry. Doesn't mean that you have something hanging between your legs, doesn't mean that you are to refrain yourself from feeling any other emotions. For my baby Martha, always remember that papa loves you and I will always be by your side even when you can't see me. And lastly, for my dear Maria… don't let your stubbornness make you go down the blind path. You have a great capacity to love and if you found love in a certain man, it doesn't mean you love me any less. That's all since I'm running out of ink. ~With love, Dominik Johanson."

Setting her cold tea down, Maria looked at the sun as she let tears freely out of her eyes. For the first time in five years, Maria let herself cry about her husband somewhere nowhere her bed.

She's not crying because a dream reminded her that he's dead. She's crying because for once after his wake, she reminded herself of every wisdom he shared with her. Either it's something out of nowhere, something that blossomed out of their banters or something he randomly forced her to know. She's crying because she finally understands his words.

Last night, while Martha's sleeping around her arms, Maria kept on having second thoughts about her feelings or attraction towards the Professor. She first thought that she's only attracted to him.

The second man in her thoughts.. Professor Georg Von Trapp.

But now, in the morning of December 25th. In her own little corner. Maria realized that it's far beyond attraction or being smitten.

She developed feelings for him.

Nothing is more pleasurable than to have a peaceful Christmas morning after a… well- very disastrous morning.

The Villa is so quiet and serene, no one might believe that there are twenty-one people inside.

So what's disastrous? It's Georg's mind.

At first, he woke up from a very distracting, intimate, cliff-hanging dream between him and his employer. Only distracting because he can't believe he's lusting after his students' mother.

He also can't believe that his dreams turned from Agathe to Maria for the past week.

Before things changed, his dreams are either ones he can't remember or a typical dream of missing Agathe, her death and his sorrows.

After his argument with Maria, Georg got daydreams or nightdreams of being so close to her. Not too close at the start, just close enough to smell her scent… a scent that he can't get out of his mind. Entering her office that smells exactly like her makes him feel intoxicated and a bit addicted to how she smell.

After that day in the gazebo, the scenery changed from smelling her to touching and kissing her. Always starting with hearing her singing a lovely tune while swaying. Dressed in something that can make him feel aroused like a horny teenage boy again.

And every single night, they get worse. From smelling to touching then kissing and more touching. He'll always wake up in the cliff hanging moment when he's about to enter her body. When she's moaning his name in a voice that can make any man go wild.

And that's not the worst part… no cold showers or any distractions can make his erection go calm. He can't remember waking up with such a much more serious than serious problem like as if he's a teenage boy again.

Somehow along with the sorrows that he's in his late thirties, he can't believe that he still has it.

He can't remember the last time he had it with someone who completely does nothing to arouse him… Nor he remembered any other woman occupying his thoughts aside from Agathe.

Letting out a sigh, he looked up to wonder what might his dear Agathe would think if she discovered that he's lusting over a widowed woman who deserves far more better than a bastard who did a lot of stupid life decisions and now is paying for the damned consequences.

Probably she already knows… and for at least she won't mind. It's not like as if they're married.

He knows how to deal with the situation.. the only problem now is that he's unsure.

He doesn't only lust after her… he also craved for her attention, to get to know her and be more close to her and everything.

He know he felt it and he can't no longer deny it. He will always remind himself to stop staring, stop being too cheeky and being too curious.

Just the knowledge of being too curious already gave him a hint that his feeling towards Maria is far more than just an attraction and lusting. He's never so curious about a woman unless she is Agathe Whitehead. Now he's to add another name and that's Maria Rainier.

Letting out a one heavy breath, Georg felt something lift off his shoulders.

Was that it? The constant feeling of uneasiness that nags him to death? That something he can't lay a finger one and something that gets heavier on his back every time he thinks about a certain woman. A woman who is not his dead girlfriend, Agathe. A woman who completely reminds him of her but also have notable differences like Maria's alive and doesn't really give a damn about reputations and stuff. She's more adventurous than Agathe and she gives him a feeling that no other woman can make him feel.

Like in his six main emotions, there is a seventh one that can't have any more proper label other than Maria because only Maria can make him feel that way.

Blinking as he sighed, he can't believe himself.

So it's more than just an attraction?, he thought while taking a sip on his cold coffee.

Obviously they haven't done anything intimate yet… but it feels like as if they already had with those eyes gazing that can take his breath away, the casual talks that always seemed to end with them holding hands or having amy physical contact. Add the fact that her voice, that freaking voice, calms him to no end and make him feel heaven every time he heard it. He can't help but just admit it to himself.

He's in love with his students' mother.

Elisabeth finished preparing for the day as she looked at the new items around her bedroom. Her new ukelele from Professor Georg, a Twice lightstick, compilation of music sheets and a journal from her mother, a glass of fake spiders from Frederick, a Christmas Card from Martha, an instax from Aunt Margaretta, a tin of homemade cookies from the kitchen staff, a handbag from Lily and Daisy, and many more others.

Opening the one from the kitchen, Elisabeth took one and ate it. Smiling as she checked on her ukelele again.

Professor Georg…

Ever since that day she thought they'll lose him, she's quite impressed on how her mother changed and she knows he should he credited for it.

No more bells, no more distance between them and no more very strict rules.

It's as if their mother's back.

Actually… she mused as she took another bite on her cookie, … she is back.

Looking at the romance novels collection that she secretly received from Mrs. Moser, she smiled as she remembered seeing her mother and professor stare at each other. She caught them doing so, not only once but many times, and she can't help but to wonder if there's a love story blossoming between the two of them.

As far as she's concerned, Elisabeth doesn't completely mind if her mother found romance with Professor Georg. He's just like her father but more likely to be a less busy man. She grew fond of him and to think that someday he can be her father…

… Elisabeth looked at herself in the mirror as she smiled. An idea coming in her head.

That's it… she thought, We just need him to not leave.

Looking at the journal, she sat back on her chair and took a pen as she finished her cookie. She started writing ideas on how to get her mother and professor together.

I might need a lot of Martha's help here… she mused.

Fredrick took another bite on his cookie as he prepared himself for the day, combing his hair as he think of his plan.

Just like his sister, he's also thinking about getting their mother and Professor Georg together.

They think I didn't know that they're staring at each other like those people on Lis' books? Ewe but it'll be cool if Professor Georg become my father… he thought.

Martha bursted into his room as she hold a box of a-

Is that a Nintendo Switch? he thought.

"Who gave that to you?" he asked.

Martha pouted as she handed him the box, "Aunt Margaretta… she taught me how to play one. I can't open the box.."

Frederick smiled, shaking his head as he opened the box, Martha looked at the same box on his side table as she asked, "You got one too?"

"Professor Georg gave me that… I got wireless headphones from Aunt Margaretta." he said.

Martha left her mouth on an adorable 'o' shape as she said, "I got we were bears pillows from Professor Georg… Mommy gave me hairpads- you know one like Elisabeth's earphones."

"You mean airpods?" Frederick chuckled as he looked at his mother's gift, "Mom gave me a book father wrote when she was pregnant with me and Elisabeth. An another book of piano sheets and a mug of coffee… my first mug."

Martha looked at the things on his table as she smiled, "I got a ballerima costume and a little box that plays music when you rotate the little thing on it's side from mommy. I love her gifts to me, and also Professor Georg's… those pillows are very fluffy I'm gonna die!"

Frederick smiled at his sister as he corrected, "You mean a ballerina… and the box that plays music is called Music Box."

Martha nodded as she asked, "Do you think someone won from their game yet?"

"What game?" Elisabeth asked, appearing on the joining door, "Who's playing?"

"Mommy and Professor Georg…. They're always playing stare.." Martha said as she looked at her siblings, "I really want them to get married just like Captain and the- what was it again? Governor? Gover- ah! Governess! Just like the captain and the governess."

Elisabeth and Frederick exchanged looks as Elisabeth quickly closed the doors and showed them her new journal.

"I've made a plan to get them together… Now Martha, do you want Professor Georg to go with us to the party tomorrow?" she asked.

Martha nodded as Frederick read the contents of her plan, "Are we to do this today?"

"If you agree… we just need to see them kiss each other." Elisabeth smiled, "If they do that, it means my assumptions are correct."

"What assumptions?" Frederick asked.

"That mommy loves Professor Georg?" Martha asked, "She looked at him like how the captain looked at the govern- - governess when they're dancing."

Elisabeth and Frederick looked et each other as they smiled.

"We'll get them dance and then they kiss!" Frederick exclaimed as shivered, "I don't think I want to see that but I think it can work."

Elisabeth gave herself deep breaths as she smiled, "Okay… now we have a lot of things to do."

She, Frederick and Martha tried to plan out their Christmas Day while cleaning up and everything.

Oh help… Elisabeth thought as she braided her hair, please let it work…
