"Please, can I go see the outside world?" A pure-blue humanoid animal made up of latex, or, in a simpler way, a latex monster/creature/animal, or in an even simpler way, a furry.
"Blue Hedgehog, I've told you many times. We can't risk anyone else getting turned into latex animals." Dr. Kintobor told the latex creature and patted its head when it began to look like it was about to cry. "Besides, don't you have the indoor-garden to enjoy?", the scientist asked, continuing to pet the latex creature's head.
"But I wanna see the real world! I wanna meet new creatures! I don't wanna stay cooped up in the lab where the only other place I can go is the outer Urban Jungle, where Yellow Lion and Orange Tiger always fight over territory!" it whined.
Dr. Kintobor sighed as he picked up his small companion and set it on the table, making it squeak in surprise. It looked down, looked at Dr. Kintobor's schedule for the next day, and lowered it's cat-like ears when it saw Return to the lab to safely continue latex animal examinations. "You're leaving?" the latex creature sniffed after it brought its head back up.
"I'm sorry, I need to. Besides, the other latex animals don't seem like they're barely able to stand having me in their territory while resisting their needs to turn me into one of them anymore, and it's making it too dangerous to study them in their groups." the scientist sighed as a few latex tears ran down the latex creature's face and it buried its face into the human's torso.
"W-why can't you a-at least stay i-in the tow-tower? You w-were my only fr-friend. I-I never tri-tried to hurt you." it sniffed.
"I know, but GUN is requiring me to do this." Dr. Kintobor said, returning the hug and getting the latex creature off of the table, thankful for its light-weightiness and patted it on the head. After a while, the latex creature let out a big yawn and Dr. Kintobor looked at the clock. "Egad! Time sure flies, doesn't it?" the scientist exclaimed and picked up his latex companion.
"Alright, let's get you to indoor-garden so you can sleep." he said, walking out of the lab room and to the staircase leading to the next floor.
The next day, the latex hedgehog awoke with a start, remembering the time that Dr. Kintobor was supposed to leave. It didn't want its human friend to leave without it! It looked around and saw a jar with holes in the lid occupied by Jell-O-like living latex that Dr. Kintobor was supposed to be taking with him for further study in another lab and got an idea.
The latex creature had managed to turn into a puddle and squeeze into a jar before, so why not try again? It opened the jar and dumped the latex inside out, and with a few attempts, turned into a puddle, squeezed into the jar while taking advantage of the holes in the lid and screwed it back on. After a few minutes, the latex creature heard its old friend coming.
"Now where did I put that jar?" Dr. Kintobor wondered out loud, before spotting the item he was looking for. "Ah! There it is!" the scientist said, picking up the jar and putting it in his bag. The latex creature relished the feeling of the swaying of the bag as Dr. Kintobor walked down to the first floor of the tower. But before the latex creature could fall asleep, it heard paper being taken out and a pencil sketching, most likely writing a good-bye letter to the latex creature currently hiding in the jar.
After the pencil was put down, the swaying motions and footsteps continued, lulling the latex creature to sleep as Dr. Kintobor left the building and onto the streets of the Urban Jungle. Nearby roaring and cries could be heard, a certain sign that Yellow Lion and Orange Tiger were fighting over territory again, so that meant that Dr. Kintobor could safely cross the streets to the forcefield that kept the latex animals within the latex-infested city and unsuspecting people out.
When he reached the forcefield, he typed in a code in the keypad, deactivating the forcefield so he could get to the other side, where his car was, and once he passed, he reactivated the forcefield before the latex creatures could notice that it was deactivated. After the forcefield was back up, Dr. Kintobor opened his car and climbed in, putting his bag in the passenger seat and waking up his hiding companion.
The latex animal was confused, but remembered what had previously happened and held back a squeak that all latex animals usually let out when happy as it realized that it was going with its human friend.
When the car stopped, it snuck a peek out of the flap opening and mentally gasped in awe. It had never seen so many people and cars before! The latex creature almost squeaked when the traffic light turned green and the car started moving again. This process repeated several times before the car finally arrived at its driver's destination. Wow! The latex creature thought as the bag was taken out and it was able to see the front of a huge building.
The footsteps and swaying started again, and it could hear new, unfamiliar sounds, like scientists greeting Dr. Kintobor, and smell new smells. The latex creature couldn't believe that there was so much to do and so much to explore outside of the Urban Jungle's city walls and that it was missing out on it! Why hadn't Dr. Kintobor taken his latex companion sooner on one of his supply runs?
Suddenly the bag was set down, and the latex creature pulled in its tendrils that served as its head just as the flap was unbuckled and lifted. It felt the jar being lifted up, along with other jars containing living latex of other colors.
When Dr. Kintobor walked away, the latex creature used the opportunity to form a small eye and view its surroundings. When it saw Dr. Kintobor return, it swiftly closed its eye and pulled it back into the center of itself. "Alright, which one of you would like to go first?" the scientist asked, causing the orange and purple latex in jars of their own to start squeaking, meaning that they both wanted to go first. Dr. Kintobor chuckled and picked up both of the jars and took them to another room, allowing the blue latex creature to push its eye back out and continue examining the lab.
Eventually, it heard a soft "H-hello?" from the white jar. "Hello." the blue latex creature responded, turning its eye to the white latex creature's jar next to it and saw that it had its own eye open. "Who are you?" it asked, looking scared.
"Snowcat, some of us are trying to sleep." the black jar moaned sleepily. "Sorry." the white jar responded as the door opened and Dr. Kintobor came back inside. "Well, you two certainly are interesting and playful ones!" he chuckled as the jars he was holding and trying to keep still were shaking and sounding with laughter of the two latex creatures inside of them.
Just then, Dr. Kintobor slipped on some water someone had spilled, dropping the jars he was holding and they went tumbling down to the table where the other latex jars were located on a cushion and landed on it, but the purple jar had knocked the blue one onto the floor, shattering it and spilling its contents onto the floor.
As it spilled, the blue latex began to stir, as it was only used to being able to stay in puddle form when something was preventing it from forming its animal shape. Dr. Kintobor's eyes widened in surprise and possibly joy as the blue latex took on its animal form.
"You sneaky little latex animal!" he said as the familiar form finished taking shape and was looking down at its feet for not staying at the tower. It squeaked a little as Dr. Kintobor lifted its chin after being like that for a while. "Well, I suppose that this was what you always wanted, right? Being with me and outside of the Urban Jungle?" he asked and the blue latex creature slowly nodded, hoping that its human friend wasn't mad at it.
"You're not mad at me for leaving the tower?" it asked.
"Oh, heavens no!" the kind scientist responded with a hug, "Although I should've known that you would've found a way to come with me, regardless of what I did to try to prevent it." he chuckled as the latex creature hugged back.
"Come on, there's been a garden prepared for you and the other latex animals." Dr. Kintobor said as he opened the other jars to let all the other latex creatures out.
The first of the latex to form was an orange cicada, and as the last latex animal formed, they all followed the scientist to a nearby opening to the outside.
The blue latex creature could hardly believe its eyes. There was a small grove of trees, long grass, a pool of water, and a birdbath. Despite how little decorations there were, the place looked beautiful. There were even small live animals!
A purple latex shark happily squeaked, ran toward the pool and dived in head-first. "Try not to eat all the fish, Reefshark!" Dr. Kintobor called after it and chuckled. "How do you like it here?" he asked the latex animals, and they all gave happy replies.
A few months passed, and the latex creatures were very happy in their new home, and they loved their new keepers and didn't mind the weekly experiments, although some were painful. There were a few… incidents involving one of the keepers making a latex animal very angry with them via insults and teasing, but thankfully, no one was bit and the keeper was given another job. The peace was kept until one day…
A/N: Woo, another fanfic to waste time on when I'm supposed to be working on Androids and Mobians. And yes, I plan to call the latex creatures by their color and animal. And this fanfic needs name ideas because I don't have any of my own, so please let me know what name ideas you have for it! Hope you like this new fanfic and as always, please review!
