Chapter 6 – Join the Resistance!
27/07 (at 11:57 am)
I screamed as I woke up from another nightmare. I looked around.
"Great," I thought. "Another nightmare."
I looked around at my lonely bedroom. It was pretty small, consisting two bunk beds. On the opposite bunk bed was my backpack. It wasn't bad sleeping in this room; I kind of got used to the bed.
I looked down. I still couldn't believe all of this was still happening. I already turned 14 a few days ago and it was almost Belt's birthday…in four days.
And he was still not here.
"God…" I thought. "Why did you took my brother away?"
I started to breath heavily and tears came falling from my eyes. I sat on my bed for a while until the tears were gone. I got up and started to head to the cafeteria. I missed breakfast as I slept very late. My stomach was growling a lot.
Letting out a small growl, I quickly ran.
As I settled myself, I got my food and sat at my table. I found this lonely table where no one sat, so I decided to take that one. Nobody came over to sit next to me, but I didn't care. I just played around with my hair and stared at the atmosphere.
"Hey there!"
Didn't expect that.
I looked up to see a lime wolf with yellow and red eyes and wore a black skull bandanna.
"Uh…" I stuttered. "H-hi?"
"Good morning, dude," the lime wolf. "Mind if I sit here?"
I struggled to say a word. Honestly, I didn't want anyone to be with me. I didn't want to be rude to him. He was a wolf like me and he seemed friendly.
"OK…" I said.
What did i just said…?
The lime wolf took off his bandanna, smiled and sat down beside me.
"My name's Sebastian," he said warmly. "What's yours?"
I shifted away. "I…I don't have a name…"
"What?"
I shook my head in frustration. "Just forget it. I…I don't…"
"C'mon," said Sebastian, nudging my arm. "You must have one!"
"Just leave it," I said, looking in the opposite direction. "Why…why does it matter?"
"Well…everyone in this town knows each other. You're new here, so it's nice to make new friends."
Beat.
I spat. "F-friend?"
"Yeah. What's wrong with that word?"
The somber and gloomy mood I had turned into a sudden temper.
"What are you EVEN doing?" I said. "Coming to stalk me?"
"What?" said Sebastian. "No. I just want to know if you are OK."
"I'm fine. Now go off and look for your OWN friends. I don't have any friends, but I'm OK with that. And I LIKE it."
The lime wolf looked surprised. His eyes narrowed a bit. "Like it? That's…that's just salty. You shouldn't tell people to skurt. The first time I saw you, you looked like a sad pile of wet towels. Ever since, you have been mopping around like a loner. Seriously, dude; if you don't accept people's company, you would end up like a jerk just like my Captain."
Something snapped inside me.
"J-jerk?" I said before my voice broke into a growl. "Jerk?! Listen to this! I. AM. FINE! Even if I'm a jerk, I don't want anyone's offers. I…I…I don't care if anyone wants to be my friend or not. I'm happy to be a lone wolf!"
"Well, you don't look so happy for the past 6 months…you emo wanksta…" growled Sebastian.
I couldn't take this anymore. I was one step away from poking my fork into someone's eye. To avoid a fight, I just waved my hand.
"Just leave me alone," I said. "Leave, NOW!"
Sebastian looked shocked by my outburst. Then all of a sudden, I saw small tears in his eyes. My anger was replaced by regret. Knowing that there wasn't anything else to do, Sebastian stood up and scoffed.
"I was just checking if you were OK…" he said.
"I'm FINE and I'll be better if you people just get out from my personal bubble," I said, looking away. I felt a bit of tears in my eyes and I hugged myself.
"Fine…" he scoffed. "But…if you ever need someone to talk to, my door is always opened."
I nodded stiffly. Sebastian walked off. I NOW felt like a jerk. I laid my head on the table and let the tears spill.
"I shouldn't exist," I thought.
After finishing my lunch, I went through the hallways. As I walked through the crowd, I spotted Bubblegum and Emerald talking together with a magenta female cat. Those were the three I saw who survived Infinite's attack.
"Do you guys know where Tom went?" asked Emerald.
"He got a fever," explained the magenta female cat. "He fell unconscious in the cafeteria. But don't worry. Cassie, Xander and Nicki are there. I think they're helping him."
"Geez," said Bubblegum. "His health is getting worse. I guess all that stress must have caused him to descend into insanity."
Bubblegum – the pink cat – looked timid and mature. Because of what she was wearing, she looked like a punk. On the other hand, Emerald was wearing the same bright outfit. She seemed to be optimistic and somewhat a bit quirky…and let's not forget that she is ANNOYING (because she pulled down my pants the first time we met).
Ignoring their conservation, I continued to walk. I was heading to my bedroom. However, since my eyes were closed, I wasn't really looking at where I was going.
All of a sudden, I tripped over and nearly caused another person in front of me to fall as well.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" said that person in somewhat a French accent. "Watch where you're going, kid."
"Yeah!" said another person with the same accent. "Is it because you are tired or you are just in a bad mood?"
As the person I accidentally bumped in pushed me slightly so I could stand on my feet, I took a good look at him. It was a silver bird wearing black leather along with another bird with sky blue feathers and wore clothes made out from blue jeans.
"Sorry…" I mumbled.
I turned around to leave only to bump into another bird.
The one with vibrant turquoise feathers and hazel brown eyes.
"Oh…" he said lowly in a raspy and deep voice. "You again…"
He narrowed his eyes coldly.
I started to become nervous.
I took one good look at him. His beak is orange-gold, his eyes are hazel brown and he have two long feathers sticking from the back of his head. And oh, he have a large light peach scar on the right eye. He seemed to be half a centimetre taller and looked older than me. For some reason, I couldn't help but tremble a bit.
And oh. I noticed that he swapped his dark purple shirt and jacket with an army camouflage long-sleeved singlet and a black shirt with teal arrows. Not far away from him…was his jacket in a rubbish bin.
"Well?" the bird said, placing his hands on his hips.
I was about to open my mouth when he noticed the rings on my gloves. His eyes slightly widened in interest.
"Uh…" he said, tilting his head. "Si te importa, what are those rings on your hands?"
('Si te importa' means 'if you mind' in Spanish)
OK. I didn't know what he just said.
"Oh…" I said. "Um…I'm not really sure."
"I've believe that I saw those rings before during my study. Can you tell me at least what you KNOW about them?"
"Well…I…the o…only…thing I know is that…I can't…t…take them…off…"
I mentally slapped myself in the face. Why can't I just talk normal?
The bird just looked at my rings, placing his hand on the tip of his beak.
"Hmm…" he muttered as he observed it. "I-"
"ATTENTION! ALL CIVILIANS OF FOREST TOWN GO TO THE MAIN ROOM OF THE BUNKER. I REPEAT. CAN WE HAVE ALL CIVILIANS OF FOREST TOWN GO AT THE MAIN ROOM OF THE BUNKER? THANK YOU."
The turquoise bird sighed. "You know what? Forget it for now, chump."
He and the other two birds walked off. Shrugging, I walked to the main room of the bunker where almost all the people were gathered in. As it was the largest room of the bunker, it was enough to fit a million people. Near the entrance door to outside was that orange hedgehog – the one they call Mayor Wills.
What caught my eye was that there were two soldiers standing beside him.
One was a brown-orange male cat with dark brown eyes, noticeable fangs and wore a tan soldier helmet, a small green scarf, a brown collared shirt, brown gloves and brown shoes. He was holding a weapon that represented a lightning bolt.
The other one was a grayish white male wolf with orange eyes, his back hair was combed to the right and wore a long French brown jacket, a white shirt, shamrock green finger-less leather gloves, military pants and black boots. He was wielding a teal blaster gun.
"Thank you all for coming here today," said Mayor Wills as the crowd quieted down. "As you are wondering why I called you all up, there's a special announcement that I think it's worth listening to. These soldiers here are from the Resistance; one of the surviving armies in the world. They have a message they would like to tell you."
"Thank you," said the brown-orange cat. "For introductions, my name is Richard Berlin and beside me is Mic Derman. We're from the Resistance Volunteer Army. Our commander wants us to be here so that we can tell you this; we are fighting Eggman's forces as we speak. We don't have much time to be around here, so let me get straight to the point; we need your help! Join us!"
There was an enormous and collective intake of gasps from the assembled crowd. I also gasped.
What did they say?
"Don't you see the destruction Eggman's army has caused?" said Mic – the white wolf. "He calls it a 'splendid world'. IS HE JOKING?! He just wants to own the world and make it his playground. Time to crack that old egghead once and for all, so we're developing a strategy to stop him! However, our chief strategist has told us that in order to do to this, we will need more power."
As he spoke, it was like as if everyone hit a wall. They all started to muttered and whispered of how dangerous that would be to try to take the Eggman Empire down. I was reluctant as well.
"Joining an army?" I said out loud. "What?"
The idea made my stomach turn. Surviving a war is one thing, but how do I propose to enter the fight when I don't know how to even fight?
After a few minutes, the muttering died down.
"But what can we do about it?" said a magpie in the front row. "We're just ordinary civilians and we don't have what it takes to stop Eggman. We lost a lot of people already."
Richard stepped forwards to the magpie, giving him a strict look. "We don't care about your age OR experience. We don't need you to be tougher than leather; we'll take anyone regardless if they're solid or frail. Anyone with fighting spirit and willpower is allowed to join us! If you want to join us and make a difference as a volunteer soldier, we will welcome you with open arms."
I guessed that the crowd wasn't convinced in that speech as they started spitting out criticism to the Resistance soldiers.
"You're crazy?"
"You're just asking hapless people like us to join you?"
"Only good soldiers with experience can join!"
"That's impossible!"
"Please!" pleaded Mic. "Even though we can't take everyone, we need at least four healthy people to make a squad. Without your help, there may be no hope after all!"
The crowd was in uproar. Mayor Wills bit his lips. He raised his hand and gestured the crowd to calm down. When it was all silence, he spoke.
"Come on, everyone!" he said. "You know that we all went through the tournaments and some of them are life-threatening. Even though everything is bleak, that doesn't mean we're supposed to change. We're strong. We're courageous. We are all special. There's nothing we can't do! We need to join them and show those fiends what we're made of. If we don't, do you want another attack by Infinite again? Do you want to lose your close ones? I know that you may risk your lives doing this, but I say it's worth it. You'll be able to save many lives. All of us. So who's up?"
Nobody made a word. It was all silence. I saw in the crowd was that turquoise bird again. He looked pretty shocked after hearing the speech. However, the nervousness on his face was suddenly taken over by cold determination.
"MECH NO MISTAKE!" he chirped in a loud voice.
The crowd gasped seeing him as he marched his way to the Resistance soldiers. "Every army needs a pro and I'm the pro you're looking for. I have experiences in many fights and I conquered many weapons. I can take down those egg-heads easily. I will join you. Trust me. Du behöver mig."
('Du behöver mig' means 'you need me' in Swedish)
I had no idea what he meant with that last line. Richard smiled.
"Mecha Nism," said Mayor Wills. "Out of all the experts…and the nuisances…I knew it would be you."
"I guess you're in," said Richard. "Just to note that you know what you're getting yourself into, right?"
"Nessun problema," Mecha chirped with a smirk. "I like to help. Besides, I think it's time for me to do something good for once."
('Nessun problem' means 'no problem' in Italian)
The crowd started to cheer for Mecha for accepting the offer. Coming from the crowd was Sebastian.
"Um…Captain…" he said.
Mecha looked at him. "Yes, Sebastian?"
"Well…if you're going out there, I like to tag along with you."
The bird reluctantly nodded. The crowd cheered again. I couldn't help but nod impressed. Something caught my eye. It was Bubblegum in the crowd. Her expression was the opposite of the crowd. She looked…shocked. However, her thoughts went out of the window when she spotted Emerald making her way to the front.
"Hey!" she called.
The Resistance soldiers looked up to see her. Mecha turned around…and his smile faded into a frown.
"Emerald!" said Bubblegum, catching up to her. "What are you doing?"
"We want to join the Resistance!" said Emerald.
"'We'?!"
There was confusion in the room. Mecha looked…cross.
"What?" he said. "Why do you think you want to join?"
"You know," said Emerald. "We just want to help. We think we can help the Resistance to take down Eggman."
The bird scoffed. "You guys don't have the standards for this. I think you will fall on your face if you really want to head into the firearms."
"Oh yeah? We're going to prove…you…WRONG!"
The crowd gasped hearing this.
"How dare you say things like that to Captain!" snapped the silver bird I saw earlier.
"Shut your big fat mouth up, dirt-bag!" yelled the sky blue bird.
Mecha raised his hand for the two birds to stop.
"Beth Lehem and Emerald Stone," said Mayor Wills.
"I guess you two are joining as well," said Mic. "You make up a perfect squad."
The crowd clapped in approval.
"Wait," said Mecha unimpressed. "PERFECT SQUAD?! You're just going to merge me with THEM?!"
"Is that such a problem, hypocrite?" said Bubblegum.
"Damare," said Mecha, turning his back and crossed his arms. "Even if I'm supposed to work with those idiots, I'm out."
('Damare' means 'shut up' in Japanese)
At this, Emerald took out a LARGE PAIR OF SCISSORS.
"Well, if that's the case," she said cheekily. "You're going to have a shave!"
The second Mecha saw the scissors, he freaked out. "YOU STAY AWAY FROM MY FEATHERS!"
After taking ten quick steps back, Mecha looked around. Some of the people were snickering and whispering to each other.
He groaned and blurted out, "Fine."
Realising that it was enough to convince the bird, Emerald smiled. But Bubblegum didn't. She did a quick punch in the rabbit's shoulder before looking at Mecha. They glared at each other.
"OK then," said Richard. "Welcome to the Resistance. We want you to take any personal belongings with you just in case. Don't bring anything too heavy. You have thirty minutes until we leave, so make the time to do what you're supposed to do before leaving."
"Everyone," said Mayor Wills. "You may be dismissed."
All the people walked away in different directions. I crept towards a wall to get a closer look. As I got closer, I saw Mecha coming towards Bubblegum who frowned nervously.
"Listen, soft kitty," he said firmly. "I have a job to do, so I will let you go off scout-free this time. Just stay out of my way for now on…or else."
Bubblegum's voice was nearly a whisper. "I would rather die and honor my parents for the safety of the world. You're in the same position as me now."
"You should just drag your pathetic self out of this already."
Bubblegum stuttered. "J-Just don't do anything stupid, mate. I-I-If you're going to bring that behavior along, you're just…going to make everyone MORE unhappy than you are already!"
A brick must have dropped because Mecha was silent for a while. When he spoke, he sounded…wounded.
"Mate," he said. "Why do you think I stayed away?"
Bubblegum looked down, nodding in embarrassment.
Mecha's eyes narrowed and pushed the pink cat aside. He started to walk off with Sebastian following him.
I decided that it would be the time to get back to my bedroom.
"Maybe those Resistance soldiers are right," I thought. "We have been hiding for the past 6 months with the war raging on. But…I'm not a good fighter. Am I better off staying at the bunker?"
When I reached my bedroom, I sat onto my bed and played with my tail.
"But…what if…maybe Belt is still alive…he must be captured by the Eggman Empire. He must be…a slave somewhere. Eggman won't kill a person immediately without some torture."
That thought made me winced.
"I can't forget him. I'm sick of having those nightmares and being a grump. I can't just stay behind and pretend that all of this isn't happening. I have to do something…"
Then an idea came to mind.
"I might as well join the Resistance…but…my social skills are still bloody bad. I don't want to let everyone know that I want to volunteer in the army and I don't feel comfortable telling them about my brother's absence."
I figured that all I had to do was to stay hidden and then I would show myself once we were at the army's destination. Once I was confident, I would tell them about my brother and I would go find him.
Besides, I wanted to help. I didn't want anyone to get hurt just like what I saw during the first time when I got into the town. It was about time I might do something.
"Don't worry, Belt," I thought. "I swear that I will find you."
It was worth a try.
Bubblegum's POV
Even though Emerald forced me to join the Resistance, I made my choice to join.
It was my choice.
It was the right thing for me to do.
And if I want to make my father proud, then I have to make the world a better place.
However…there were some things that you have to face first.
"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?!" screamed Mr and Mrs Stone – Emerald's parents. "Joining the fight?!"
"Yeah," said Emerald. "The sooner we save the world, the sooner we get back home and live our normal lives again."
"No," said Mr Stone. "It's too dangerous."
"We have to at least try," I said. "Why do you think I signed up to be a police cop?"
"You can't go out there by yourselves," said Mrs Stone. "It's impossible."
"We won't be alone," said Emerald. "We have each other and the other two boys."
"But…you know that Mecha is a bully. Working with an enemy of yours is bad stew."
I sighed. "Honestly, I don't REALLY see him as an enemy. Yes, he might be arrogant, but…I…maybe it is time for me to learn how to get along with him. Probably best for the two of us and the entire town…"
Both Mr and Mrs Stone sighed. Even though I knew they wanted what was best for me, they knew that they couldn't change my mind. I already had my mind dead set on joining the Resistance, even though it was Emerald's idea.
"Just…please be safe," said Mrs Stone.
"Don't worry," said Emerald with a confident smile. "We can do this. We will keep in touch with you."
At this, she hugged her parents.
"We love you our dear Emerald," said Mrs Stone, her voice wavering.
Emerald smiled. "I love you too."
As Emerald stepped away from the hug, I took a hug with my adoptive parents.
"Please…take care of our daughter," said Mr Stone.
"Don't worry, Uncle," I said smiling. "I will."
Mecha's POV
I wasn't really sure if I wanted to join the Resistance.
OK…yeah, I did call out for volunteering, but when Sebastian and those two girls came over, I started to re-evaluate if that was the right thing to do.
I was pretty…afraid of what I had to do.
Sure, yes…I enjoyed fighting and going on missions and I was a pro at everything, but…
…who knows what could happen?
Maybe I had to go out and save people…and maybe they would be killed before I get to them.
Maybe there was a battleground I needed to join and I might fail the fight.
Maybe I had to fight the masked monster…
OK, forget the last one. That one made me feel disconcerting.
And of course, I wanted to go and help the Resistance and do the missions ALL BY MYSELF.
At that moment, those three goons decided to join me.
Yet, Bubblegum was forced to by Emerald.
This didn't help me one bit. I had no intention of being a team with her, because I thought that she wouldn't be strong enough. Of course, she might be smart, strong and brave…but during that time, I thought of her as ignoble.
But the thing that bothered was that…I…I was worried for those three. Let me get straight to the point; I didn't care about Bubblegum or Emerald. Sebastian liked me, but I didn't like him back…yet. Even though he saw me as a friend, I never CONSIDERED him as a friend. These 'relationships' I made were illogical. How do I know? Well, just take a look of what happened to Finn when I tried to be a supportive brother before he…before he…
…let's not jump to that.
And yet, I knew that nobody would see me as a friend. Besides the fact that I was openly self-centered and only loved myself, I knew that people hated my narcissism. I decided to let that go on along.
But still, I felt as if…oh my lord. This is pretty hard to say, but I didn't want Bubblegum, Emerald and Sebastian to get involved in joining the fight and they did. I didn't know what to do to change their minds and not get them…harmed. I was stuck with those fools.
Anyway, I was faced with Ryan and Ian who questioned my determination.
"Are you REALLY willing to go out there?" said Ryan.
"I am," I said sternly. "I made my decision."
"But Captain…" said Ian. "You can't go…not even now…we…don't want to lose you."
"I know, boys," I said. "But…I let Finn down. I think it's time for me to fix my mistakes. I'm tired of being a mistake."
I turned to leave.
"But please!" said Ryan, grabbing my shoulders. "If you get shot, there's no coming back!"
I rolled my eyes. "I'll be fine. Being shot means that I get to be away from this hellish place."
"You don't understand!" said Ian. "We looked up to you. Nous ne voulons pas que tu meurs!"
('Nous ne voulons pas que tu meurs' means 'we don't want you to die' in French)
"Oh yeah?!" I snapped. "Maybe my family want me to die!"
Ryan and Ian recoiled. "What?"
A minute of dead silence elapsed.
I turned my back. "You two stay here and don't even think of finding me."
"Captain…" said Ryan, his voice shaking. "What are you talking about?"
"But…" said Ian.
"THAT'S AN ORDER YOU TWO!" I snapped.
The twin brothers just stayed silent. I sighed and shook his head. I grabbed a backpack and walked out from the bedroom.
I didn't mean to be that nasty to those twins. Usually, they were my 'servants' and did my bidding, but they were too loyal to me. I didn't want to drag them over to the war and make them a burden. I didn't need any more drama.
Eventually, I came across a monitor playing…my team's victory in that semi-finals. I looked at the screen to see Finn hugging me on that monitor. I reluctantly did so and laughed it off.
I felt something warm in my chest.
I couldn't help but remembered how loyal and kind Finn was to me.
This was…pleasant.
So…so…
DISTURBING.
Seeing this made me remember the time I saw Finn died. I turned around to face a female kangaroo who was at the counter.
"OI!" I yelled. "Why is that ancient-arse video still playing?!"
"What?!" said the kangaroo alarmed. "Uh…um…um…I…"
"Get rid of it, Hannah! It's already six months old."
I walked off in frustration. I heard Hannah saying something.
"Heh," she said nervously. "He likes me."
I groaned. What was with these girls wanting to 'marry' me?
I caught up with Bubblegum and Emerald at the front entrance. Bubblegum looked behind and was about to say a word until I gave her a pointed glare. I wasn't in the mood to talk.
Sebastian came now wearing a black skull bandanna, a black ninja robe, a long-sleeved silver shirt and black pants. He retained his utility belt and boots.
"Not too shabby," I thought. "Should have add some gold…"
"OK," said Richard. "Let's go already. Just stay close to us. When outside, you don't know what's going to happen."
Mayor Wills opened the door and we went through the entry/exit hallway.
Little did I knew was that a little turquoise wolf followed us.
Clay's POV
I waited until Mayor Wills left the exit door. Taking my chance, I came out from my hiding spot and went through the door. I walked through a hallway and peeked my head around the corner. There, I saw the group heading out of the barrier door with two police cops guarding it. Once they were outside, the cops closed the door.
I came up to the cops, but they blocked the barrier door.
"Sorry," said one of them. "Can't go outside. It's too dangerous."
Fortunately, I had my own excuse.
"N…no…" I stuttered, trying to form words together. "I came here to tell you that Mayor Wills needs your help at the cafeteria. There's this guy named Tom who's suffering from sickness and he's about to die soon."
The cops looked shocked.
"Not on my watch," said the second cop.
They walked passed me and made their way to the cafeteria. Once they were out of sight, I turned to the door.
"OK," I thought. "That was easier than I thought."
Once I was outside, I took a good look at the town. It bored the same wreckage and debris all over the floor. The only difference was that there was barely fire and weeds were growing all over the place. The winter breeze brushed against my fur, causing me to immediately wrap my arms around my body. My tail wrapped around my waist. I wished I got out a jacket in the first place. I spotted the group walking around a corner, their backs against me.
So far, so good.
As I sneaked behind them, I stopped to see that at the front gate was something I had never seen before. It was a large grey and red shuttle. On the sides were star-like shapes on it.
"No time to lose," said Richard as he opened the door at the back. "Hop in."
They all gathered into the ship with Bubblegum and Emerald in one row of the seats and Mecha and Sebastian in the next row. Richard made his way to the pilot's seat. Mic was the last one to get in. He looked around to see if there was anything, but just shrugged and got in.
OK…now GO!
I quickly broke into a run and sprinted towards the shuttle. The door was closing. Thinking quickly, I jumped and managed to get inside as the door shut. I landed on the ground behind the seats with a loud thump.
Ow…
"Huh?" said Mic. "What's that?"
"Probably some robot scum," said Richard, starting up the shuttle. It roared into life.
At this, I made my way under the seats where I could hear them talking.
"This is not going to be great," mumbled Mecha.
"It can be worse," said Emerald.
"I wasn't talking to you, ditz," spat Mecha.
"…I don't feel good now," said Bubblegum. "I think I'm going to be sick."
"Oh c'mon!" said Emerald cheerfully. "Isn't it great that we're all together and not trying to kill each other?"
"Watashi wa anata ga suu to omou!" spat Mecha.
('Watashi wa anata ga suu to omou' means 'I think you suck' in Japanese)
"What a perfect squad we hired," muttered Richard, sarcasm dripping in his voice.
"Never mind," said Mic. "Let's shoot this baby."
I felt the shuttle starting to move forwards before slowly rise in the air. Then they fired the thrusts and the shuttle took off.
The entire shuttle was shaking. I nearly hit my head on the seats. I felt a wave of nausea flooding through me. Despite being cramped, sick and in a cold space, I was warm and sleepy. I huddled up with my tail curling around my body.
I closed my eyes and drifted off into a deep sleep.
Third Person's POV, Few Hours Later
After grabbing a few boxes of doughnuts, the police cops went back to guard the barrier door. However, what they saw nearly made them choke out the sweet dough with sprinkles and frosting in their mouths.
"Shoot," said the first cop. "We forgot to lock the door again."
The barrier door – made of triple steel and covered with many locks that would be impossible for anyone to break them – was wide opened, leading to outside. Apparently, Clay forgot to close the door behind him.
"Ah," said the second cop. "Mayor Wills is going to take our badges for this one."
"I won't tell if you don't."
AN: You know what they say; policemen can be messed up with donuts!
When writing how Sebastian should talk, I tried to give him a 'teen-like' way. He would say this kind of slangs like 'emo', 'bruh' and 'dude'. A bit like a 'valley talk'. Also, he is made by a friend of mine in real life. We discussed about how he will look like and I managed to put him like this as my friend's anthro counterpart.
The speech Richard and Mic said is the same thing what Knuckles said on one of the promotional videos of Sonic Forces. I don't want them to just enter the bunker and say 'we need help, so join us', so I used the speech. Sorry for copying.
Mecha get to speak again and judging by his tone of voice, he didn't appear to be happy to be in a squad. How do you guys think of him now?
