The story bellow, was supposed to be an one shot, but i thought it would be too big and boring to read, so i split in two parts. And the scenario, takes place around season 11, after the events of 'The Nurse', so, its a storyline story.
Despite of the story centered around Watts and Jack, the main characters of the story, is Murdoch and George, as they try to help their friends solve a problem.
Hope you like it.
Please, enjoy.
Ruth Green and Dscwin, thanks for the help.
PART 1
When George Crabtree arrived at the station for another day of work, he spotted their detective, Llewellyn Watts pacing nervously around the office which once belonged to Detective Murdoch. Curious as he is, George placed his belongings on his desk and went to talk with the detective, who in turn welcomed him with an amiable wave.
''Watts, are you alright, need my help with something?'' he asked.
''If you turn back time, would be nice, constable,'' he said, but seeing George's confused stare, he gestured for him to sit. ''Sorry for the snap, I'm really worried.''
''Well sir, if you want to open up, I'm all ears,'' George offered.
''You read about Lily Potter´s murder case?'' Watts asked.
''Yes, but its station one´s investigation, the Inspector told us to not stick our noses in someone else´s case.''
''Anyway…'' Watts raised a hand. ''Mr. Jack Walker is listed as one of the suspects. Someone says to have seen him around the scene…'' he said and George opened his eyes wildly. ''Don´t worry, he didn't kill anyone, he even has an alibi.''
''Well, why he didn't say so?'' George asked and in response, Watts passed his hand over his hair.
''That's the problem, the alibi was me.''
''You?'' George got confused then realization came in. ''Oh… I see…''
''We were together in his apartment, by the time the murder happened and if he says this, we both are going to be in trouble,'' Watts explained. ''And since he didn't say, they kept him in their cells… as we do with any suspect.''
''Oh my…'' George rubbed his face. For a few minutes, both men stood in silence, staring at each other, when the constable broke the silence again. ''Watts, when the body was found?'' he asked.
''Lily Potter was found around 3pm. I talked with Miss Hart and she suspects the victim died around 10am, the same morning…why?''
''I think I know how to solve this, grab your hat, lets pay Detective Murdoch a visit, I will explain my plan on the way,'' George exclaimed as a confused Detective Watts follow him.

At the hotel, William Murdoch was having breakfast, while his caregiver, Mrs. Dallas and the hotel maid cleaned around the small apartment. Dr. Ogden was nowhere to be seen, she had left earlier for work, as she was wanted in the hospital.
The last few months the former detective had recovered a little bit more, now been able to walk more than just few steps, only leaning on his cane, which made him happy, to at least to the extent of not letting Julia get so tired like she was in the beginning.
Upon seeing his friends crossing the door, the older man opened up a smile and waved for them to come close. When they did, he asked them to look as he got up leaning on the table with one arm and limped twice around the table, leaning over his cane, before he lost balance and tripped over a chair.
''Sir, be careful!'' George rushed to him to give him support when Mrs. Dallas appeared.
''Mr. Murdoch, what are you think you doing?'' she exclaimed. ''Be careful, you don´t want to get hurt, what will Mrs. Murdoch say?''
''Help me…couch.'' asked the former detective as the older back woman support him as he walked.
''Gentleman what I can do for you?'' asked Mrs. Dallas to the other detective and constable while helping William sit.
''We just came to pay Mr. Murdoch a visit,'' said George with a shy smile.
''And we may have to take him to the station with us,'' said Watts. ''But don´t we will let Dr. Ogden know about it.''
''You can… leave… Mrs. Dall…'' William nodded. ''No worry.''
''I will go run some errands then Mr. Murdoch, I will be back later,'' she said and left.
''Why you here?'' William asked and once the three men were sitting on the couch, Det Watts and George told the former detective everything, starting with Lily Potter´s murder, which William already knew about; then, what happened to Mr. Jack Walker, his alibi issue and George´s plan to solve everything. In response, William just stared at them, with an impartial look on his face.
Of course, both George and Watts knew the older detective wouldn't agree to help at first. He did respect Watts as a good detective and Mr. Walker as a good butcher, but he never agreed with their 'indecent' relationship, as for him, it was against human and divine law.
''Don´t know…'' the older man looked a bit uneasy and in response, Watts leaned himself back on the couch, disappointed. Seeing this, George ran his fingers through his hair and took a deep breath - he owed Watts help and tried to put some sense on his former superior head.
''Sir…'' George started. ''Don't… try not to think about their indecency…'' he said and both Murdoch and Watts give him a hard look. ''But reminding of what we ever work for… to not let any innocent go to the noose?''
''Jack… Mr. Walker didn't anything wrong… related to the crime I mean… as we said, his alibi was me, he just can say this, so we thought he could pretend to be your caregiver and say he was with you yesterday at 10AM,'' Watts said.
''The only thing we ask you to do, Sir, is confirm with Detective Andrews that Mr. Walker was working for you as a part time job while Dr. Ogden was at work,'' George said.
''Which is plausible, Dr. Ogden knows Jack and don´t trust anyone else to take care of you, so she would rather have a butcher for caregiver to her husband, than someone else,'' Watts said. ''The perfect alibi.''
For a minute, William let his head down, he knew George was right, no innocent people deserve the noose and the butcher seemed the kind of man who wouldn't hurt a fly. Sure, he and Watts were sinners, but he knew he wasn't a saint neither, so, after a whole minute to think, he decided to help them.
''Alright, I… help,'' William said with difficulty.
''Oh, good, nice thing to do Sir!'' George smiled.
''Indeed, Mr. Murdoch, we are really grateful… Here, I will tell Jack the plan, meet me in half an hour at the station 1,'' Watts said patting Murdoch shoulder and flying out the room.
''I think we better go as well too, Sir, we need to tell the front desk to warn Dr. Ogden.'' George said trying to help William get up, but before he did, the detective pointed to his wheelchair.
''No, chair Gerg… use chair,'' William exclaimed.
''Of course,'' George nodded helping his old superior in his wheelchair. ''Are you alright, Sir, we can go?''
''Yes,'' William said, and George pushed his wheelchair away.

Back at station 1, Jack was impatiently waiting in a cell, when Watts came for a visit. Immediately, the butcher rushed to the bars and grab the detective´s hand.
''Llewellyn, what are you doing here?'' he whispered worried.
''Came to tell you, we found you a new alibi,'' he said.
''What? How? Who? What you mean?'' the butcher was confused.
''It's my former colleague, detective William Murdoch, he suffered a stroke a few years ago and became half paralyzed. We convince him to help and…''
''Wait, Llewellyn, I don't know what you planned, but it won't work.'' Jack exclaimed.
''It will, trust me, you can say you work for him part time and was with him as his therapist at the hotel, the time of the murder… to pay for your study or something.''
''Alright, I trust you, just hope this former detective is a man of his word.''
''I never worked with him,'' Watts said ''But it's something I heard, it's that he never let an innocent go to the noose. Now I have to go, Mr. Murdoch must have been arriving with Constable Crabtree, I will wait for you at the station entrance. See you later,'' the detective said leaving.
''Right,'' Jack took a deep breath. ''Er… Constable, could you call the detective please, I need to change my statement.'' Jack called, just hoping that the plan he had got himself into, worked well.
