Titles

Shhh asked for a oneshot of…a read and see story.

Maya: Didn't that happen in the show?

Lisa: I think that kind of thing has already been covered.

There were many advantages to being the Saviour. Apparently none of them related to her family situation. Emma loved her parents, and knew that her parents loved her, but most of the time it felt like they saw her more as the Saviour than as their daughter. Most of the conversations they had with her were about her being the Saviour. She was quite frankly sick of it. So she decided to give them a taste of their own medicine. See how they liked being treated more like a title than a family member. Emma came down for breakfast that day, ready to put her plan into action.

"Emma thank goodness you're up." Snow said, sounding relieved as she tried to console a screeching Neal. "Could you get me a clean pacifier for Neal?"

"Of course Your Majesty." Emma answered. Snow gave her a confused look.

"Ok…" She said as Emma went through to Neal's nursery and got a clean pacifier and handed it to Snow. "Thanks." Snow said. She and Charming shared a look. This was…odd.

"Will there be anything else, Your Majesty?"

"No…" Snow replied. This joke was starting to wear thin.

"Emma, is something wrong?" Charming asked her. Emma looked over to her dad.

"No, Your Majesty." She answered him. Snow and Charming shared a look. This was really strange.

"Ok Emma. Quit it." Charming told her. "We don't know what's going on, but stop it. We get it. We're royals, but you don't need to keep bringing it up. Yes, we're 'Your Majesty' to some people still, but not to you. To you we're mom and dad. Got it?" Charming told her. Emma smirked.

"Care to tell us what's so funny?" Snow asked, becoming irritated with this new attitude.

"You don't like me referring to you as your official titles over your family titles?" Emma asked them.

"Well no, of course not." Snow answered her.

"Well then how do you think I've been feeling lately?" Emma asked them. Snow and Charming didn't answer, giving Emma a chance to explain. "Lately, you seem to have forgotten that I'm not just the Saviour." Emma began. "You seem to be treating me more like the Saviour than your daughter. It sucks. It's like I've always been more use to you as the Saviour than I have as your kid." Emma's gaze flashed to her brother in Snow's arms. "It's like you don't know how to see me as your kid, so you relate to me as the Saviour instead." Now Snow and Charming understood. Emma saw them interacting with Neal, something they always knew would be hard for her. However, it was something they could have made a little easier for her if they hadn't been so thoughtless. They both knew on occasion they had been guilty of treating Emma more like the Saviour than their daughter. She was right, well, partially. Sometimes it was hard for them to relate to Emma as their child, but only because it hurt thinking about how much they had missed with her. Snow and Charming looked at each other, having one of their silent conversations. Then, they approached Emma together. Snow raised a hand horizontally way above her head.

"Daughter." She said. She then lowered her hand to about head height. "Emma." She then lowered it down to about her waist. "Saviour." Charming took Emma's hands in his own.

"You will always be our daughter before everything else." Charming told her. "Your happiness, your safety, it means more to us than anything else. It's hard seeing you all grown up, but that doesn't mean we should try and block out who you are. You still deserve parents. If we mess it up again, just let us know. Possibly without all the dramatics?" Emma laughed.

"Deal." She replied. Snow and Charming could have kicked themselves for making Emma feel like this. Of course their baby girl wasn't just the Saviour. They just had to remind her of that.
