Pretext:
This story begins after TVD: Season 3 Episode 5. The one where Klaus discovers Elena's blood is the key to making hybrids. Except, Klaus never sent Elena to the hospital. Instead, he and Rebekah took her and fled mystic falls.
Note: Any history of the Mikaelson's revealed after this episode (i.e New Orleans) does not exist in this story.
Elena
I open my eyes but the blackness doesn't go away. I feel trapped, my own breath circulating a small space. Feeling around the dark area I realize I'm in a confined box. Then, I hear the sounds of horn honking and know I'm in a trunk. But who's?
The trunk is cold and empty. I can finally feel the car moving as my attention narrows on my situation. I hear voices but I distinct whose.
Time passes and I struggle to find a way to open the trunk. No latch or handle to free me. Eventually, I feel the car come to a stop. Seconds pass. The trunk begins to open.
Low and behold: Klaus Mikaelson and his blonde bitch of a sister.
"Hello Love," his British accent lacks all signs of aggression. Yet I know he's getting a kick out of this.
"What are you doing to me?" I ask the siblings. Rebekah stands there - mute. Klaus releases a smirk - one I'm too familiar with. He's a torturer, a man incapable of love. Even as his devoted sister stands beside him, I wonder if he even loves her unconditionally. I cannot help but remember how he betrayed Elijah. Stabbed him after promising to reunite him with his family.
"You're blood, it seems your quite the object," he explains as Rebekah lifts me out of the car. I scramble but there's no use. Her grip on my arm is too tight. Dragging me by the right arm she pushes me forward. Klaus closes the trunk behind us and we walk off.
Realize there's no point in fighting an original, I relax my arm. Her grip still remains tight, as if she gets pleasure from my discomfort. Yet, it still hurts less than trying to break free. Looking up I see a mansion that could only be described as a palace. A modern castle fit for a prestigious family like the Mikaelson's.
"Welcome to our home Elena," Klaus says.
Rebekah leads me inside, past a grand gate. The walk from the front gate to the main entrance has to be at least half of a mile. A large distance to cover when trying to escape from those with super speed. The front door is massive, and as I walk inside I see why. The floor is a smooth gray granite. The walls paved in light brown cobblestone. The largest foyer I have ever seen. A black grand piano is the only thing in the room. I presume the room is designed for elaborate elite parties - maybe those of the early 19th century.
Klaus takes me by the left arm as Rebekah removes her hand on the right. I look as Rebekah walks down a hallway - I assume into her grand princess room. "My family lived here for almost twenty years. We held parties you could only dream of. Galas and balls were the entire upper society begged at my fight to attend. It happens to be my favorite home I have ever had," Klaus tells me. In his voice, I can sense sincerity. No sarcasm or an underlying message. This place must mean a great deal to him.
"Why are you telling me this Klaus?"
"You know, I me be the devil to you but I still have a soul. I'm sorry for taking you away from your friends and your brother. But I need you. I need to make these hybrids and you're just too important to leave behind. You have done nothing but help me be a more powerful man and so I don't want to make you feel like your imprison. I'm truly sorry Elena," Klaus says. I feel my eyes well up with water but no tears fall out. I can't process it but I know I'm stuck. If Klaus wants something, he takes it.
"Stefan and Damon are going to come for me. You know that right?" I say.
"The Salvatore Brothers may never find you. One of my many witches put a cloaking spell on us. You're friend Bonnie won't be able to locate you. As for them finding any clues. Well, you were asleep for a long time Elena. It was hard compelling an entire flight to ignore Rebekah dragging an unconscious girl by the elbows but not impossible," he informs me.
My eyes widen with the realization. Where the hell am I?
"Have you ever been to England before," I hear the sarcasm in his witty tone.
I'm stuck in some random house in England, with the oldest and most powerful vampires to ever live. Shit.
I hold the wooden railing as Klaus leads me up the staircase. I follow him down a long corridor. Small antique lights hang on the side of the walls. The walls themselves are covered by velvet red wallpaper. Something about this place gives me Dracula vibes. Finally, we make it to a wooden door at the very end of the hallway. Klaus gestures for me to enter and then closes the door behind me.
The room is massive. A king-size bed facing a beautiful 17th-century wardrobe decorated in the most beautiful border design. On the wall is about a seven-foot wide bookshelf that's height touches the ceiling. I look at the books - ones from every notable other before the 1900's; Thoreau, Shakespear, Verne. Everything really. Moving on there's one window to allow fresh air. I open it and realize that I'm on at least the fourth floor. Too high for a human to jump is an understatement. The window has a lovely chair beside it with a small glass table. The room has a small white desk in the other corner across. Opening the drawers I see empty notebooks along with an assortment of pens. Other than a blue rug, that's all I got. There's a bathroom attached with a sink, toilet, and shower. There are the basic toiletries inside the cabinet. But that's it. My life seems pretty boring now.
Klaus enters after a couple of hours, "Would you like to join Rebekah and I for super? You should really get some food in you," he politely asks.
"What's to stop me from leaving?" I ask him.
"Well, my witch has also put a barrier spell. No living thing can pass through. Don't worry you can still walk the grounds and get the fresh air. There's a lovely pond by the south wall." He informs me. His words aren't threatening. Yet he kidnapped me.
"So what the doppelganger, the big bad wolf, and the barbie playhouse?" I ask.
"So that's a no for dinner then?" he asks. Shame, Rebekah picked up scampi from a lovely little cafe. Feel free to explore the grounds," he tells me before shutting my bedroom door.
After a few minutes I take his advice and explore the grounds. I find every room you can think of for a sadistic 1000-year-old family. There's a parlor, a wine cellar, a courtyard, and at least 10 bedrooms. I find a newly renovated hallway that's more 2000. There's a media room and a game room with a pool table and a foosball table. There's also an entire arcade filled with every old video game you could think of. My favorite room is the one with the retro 80's bowling alley. After at least an hour of wondering, I come across what has to be an old dungeon. It's located below the ground level of the mansion.
I feel as if I'm not supposed to be in here. And I'm Right. Inside our four coffins. I look at each one. One is empty - I'm assuming it's Rebekah's in case she misbehaves. Two I don't recognize. The fourth one is Elijahs. His pale corpse embellished with veins of dark grey. A single dagger ruining his perfect suit. Impulsively, I remove the dagger.
Elijah is the only person in this psychotic family I trust. The other two cannot be as bad as Klaus but just to play it safe. Time passes slowly, it feels like forever. Elijah lies there frozen.
Finally, his eyes open and he gasps. He stands up and looks directly at me and says, "Hello Elena."
