A Brief Forward, or: I Am Back On My Bullshit.

This fic is a series of interconnected, non-linear snippets & drabbles that are set in a larger metroid/halo crossover concept that I've been mulling over for some time now. It has literally nothing to do with Phazon Madness, because I was a child when I wrote that.

As much as I'd like to write a full-length fic, at this point, I simply do not have the time or energy required. But I'm still ready to scream about this shit so here we are. Welcome back to hell, guys. If I do ever write the big kahuna, some of the scenes here may be incorporated into it, or tossed aside. Honestly this is just a sandbox for me to experiment with the concept, so it's mostly gonna be glorified character studies and me figuring out how to pace action scenes. Comments and suggestions are welcomed.

Anyway.

Stuff on the Metroid side of things is pretty much based on headcanon, as Metroid's lore doesn't have nearly the breadth and detail that Halo does, so I have to take some liberties and just worldbuild my own shit. I do apologize if the military realism isn't all there, as my lack of time to study sci fi/military-genre literature to check out how to write functioning command structure and capture that sweet sweet space marine aesthetic is part of why I do not have time for that larger fic I mentioned.

(In terms of canon, Scions is set post-Super Metroid and post-Halo 4.)

"Dialogue in quotes with italics" is used to indicate the use of sign language. It is Samus' default mode of communication because I say so. Look at me. Look at me. I am the captain now.

If anyone wants it, I may post a brief synopsis of the concept behind this fic so you know what the actual hell is going on but now know enjoy my disorganized descent into hell.

Obligatory 'I do not own these things, these things own me, they come into my dreams at night and haunt me with portents from a forgotten god" Disclaimer

Not that anyone cares, but I had to strongly resist the urge to make this fic's summary "She was fearless and crazier than him. She was his queen, and God help anyone who dared to disrespect his queen." for the sheer meme of it.
