Where Snowing keep their heart
Just one of my own now :). *6x07 promo spoilers!*
As always, if you have a request from tonight's episode, great! Just please give me a spoiler warning beforehand as I won't be able to watch the episode until later.
I couldn't help but feel victorious. We had beaten her, like we always would. Together Charming and I stood side by side, hand in hand, in the cemetery, where she wanted to meet us. We saw the puff of purple smoke before we saw her. For someone who had once again been thwarted, she didn't seem as angry as she should.
"It's over." I called out. "You have lost. Again. Charming and I will not be giving you our hearts. We worked together and we saved the town." The Evil Queen laughed wickedly. I didn't understand. What was so funny?
"Care to enlighten us?" Charming asked her. "What's so hilarious about being beaten once more?" The Evil Queen stepped forward, coming closer to us.
"That's not quite the case though." She said calmly. Confusion flashed across both Charming and I's eyes. What did she mean that wasn't the case? How could it not be? We had worked out what was in the bottle and saved the town as well as ourselves. The Evil Queen laughed at our panic. "Let me explain dears. I said I would have your heart, Snow White, and I shall. You were all foolish enough to assume that I was being honest when I told you that bottle was the key. Why would I give you a chance to undo all my hard work? I wasn't being literal, on this occasion. More…metaphoric. That bottle did play a part, but it was all a trap to get you to do what I wanted. You see, whenever someone uses magic, a tiny amount of residue is left in the air. I needed enough magic to be used that I could gather some of that residue to work out the magical compound your daughter has so I could ensure she couldn't use it against me." We were beginning to put the pieces together. The Evil Queen had never physically been after the heart we shared, but where we kept it, our children. I tried to move forwards, as did Charming, but neither of us had noticed that whilst she had been talking, tree roots had snaked their way around our ankles. We tried to struggle free, but it was useless. Before Charming had the chance to cut himself loose with his sword, more roots quickly bound our wrists tightly as well.
"No!" We both screamed. The Evil Queen just smirked at us. With a slight flick of her wrist, Emma appeared, holding Neal.
"Yes." She hissed. Emma was clearly confused.
"What's going on?" She asked. She raised her hand to try and blast the Evil Queen back, but found she couldn't.
"Please." I pleaded. "Don't hurt them. Please." I felt powerless to do anything else but beg.
"Sorry." The Evil Queen said. "It's too late for that."
"Emma, run!" Charming shouted. I watched as Emma sped off, praying the Evil Queen would leave her, but she did not. Instead she rolled her eyes and raised her hand in a fist, drawing Emma and Neal back to her. She then froze Emma to the spot. Charming and I were struggling as much as we could against our bonds.
"Leave them alone!" Charming shouted. "It's us you have a problem with-"
"And so it is you who will suffer." The Evil Queen barked back. "Say goodbye." And with that, she plunged her heart into Emma's chest. Emma gasped out in agony, falling to her knees with Neal still in her arms. Tears were streaming down my face. I could not lose my children. Not when we thought we had won. Even she couldn't be so cruel.
"No!" I cried. "Don't do this! I'll do whatever you want! Just leave our children alone!" The Evil Queen ignored my pleas for my children's lives as she crushed Emma's heart in her hand…
I awoke with a gasp. I was covered in my own sweat, my heart pounding in my chest. I whipped my head to the side. There was Charming, sleeping peacefully. He was alright. We were so close to finding a way to defeat the Evil Queen. So close to saving everyone in Storybrooke, including ourselves. She had first warned me about all this in a dream. I couldn't help but think this dream had been her doing also. Her way of warning me that it wasn't all going to be so easy. I got out of bed and peered over Neal's crib. He was sleeping peacefully, but I would risk waking him to have him close to me just now. I carefully picked my baby boy up, and thankfully, he went on snoozing. I kissed the top of his head and carefully carried him upstairs. Whilst the Evil Queen's threat loomed over Charming and I, Emma had decided she was camp out in her old room for a while. So I carried Neal up there to check that she too was asleep, which she was. I gently sat on the edge of her bed, placing a loose curl behind her ear.
"She's not going to hurt you, either of you." I promised my sleeping children. I moved off of Emma's bed to the chair beside it, Neal snoozing peacefully on my chest. I wouldn't be able to sleep again tonight. Not after that nightmare. I was sure the Evil Queen was taunting me with it. Well, she wasn't getting anywhere near anyone in my family. We would work out a way to save Charming and me from her evil plan, and she would not be taking our children either.
