Elijah

"I've already turned over a hundred wolves," my brother tells me.

We are in town now. Rebekah went out riding with a local she has quickly taken a fancy too. While Niklaus and I are attending to business at the local hospital. Something about compulsion and blood bags disappearing. We enter the doors of the hospital and compel our way to the man in charge of that certain inventory.

We begin to walk towards the man's office.

"And that is not enough brother," I say.

Niklaus grins in that devilish smirk he is so constantly displaying. "She stays. I need her," he says.

"For what Niklaus. To fight against father. You think an army of halfbreeds is going to suffice against Mikael."

"Our father!" his voice begins to anger. "He makes it very clear that I am not his son. Just a bastard who shamed him!" through the anger and hatred, I still manage to see the pain in his eyes. Mikael has taken every bit of good that was my brother and transformed it into a grade a psychopath. "I am not letting her go until Mikael is dead. And maybe even after."

"Why after? She is holding us back and for some reason, we ran from those that want to rescue her. Like we couldn't rip out the Salvatores hearts with our eyes closed," I inform him. His ego continuing to strike me. Although I know the truth. The hybrids keep him from being alone. Even now, he has many dispersed throughout the village. Residing near be - or some on the grounds in little shacks. They listen to him. Like a devoted k-9, always protecting their master. It is hard to understand how someone who has an abundance of present siblings feels the need for this facade of companions. Despite our arguments or periods of entanglements, we still remain as one unit. Are we enough for Niklaus?

"I chose not to kill the Salavtores out of respect for the girl. Of course, I don't like keeping her prisoner. The girl has never wronged me - I do not see her as the enemy. Despite public opinion, I don't wish harm on every soul. I think Elena is a delight. There is no need to kill those she loves. I for one thought you would understand," Niklaus tells me.

His words are surprising. As if he sympathizes with Elena. Even after she tried to escape. I knew he enjoyed her company - she spiced things up a bit for him. Obviously, I enjoy her company. What pleasant company she is. I still cannot help the need to let Elena go. Logically, she is becoming more of a great obstacle than a resource. Trying to hide her from those who are less than formidable opponents. Although my sister thinks the Salvatores should not be underestimated. She did though have a thing with the younger one once.

"So Finn, are you really not going to release her?" I ask him.

"I'm assuming these thoughts are coming from Rebekah?" he sarcastically questions me, already knowing the answer.

"Our sister wants our family to be reunited. Forgive me, but I thought that's what we all want."

"Like I told Rebekah. In do time. Her restlessness is not becoming for a lady." Unlike Niklaus, I would hardly refer to Rebekah as an ordinary young lady. Our sister is the fiercest, brattiest blonde around. A specialty she is quite proud of.

Finally, we arrive at the man's office. Instead of knocking on the door, Niklaus bursts in. Shocking the poor man. I guess my brother and I appear a tad intimidating.

Klaus goes to the man's desk who is practically shaking by the situation. He places a hand on the man's right shoulder and proceeds to look him dead in the eyes. Then with a few simple words, we get the man to say he miscounted the blood supply. Taking responsibility for the missing bags and before heading out, we grab a few more for the road.

Of course, Niklaus isn't a fan of the blood bags but they help keep a low profile. We cannot have an entire town walking around with scarves around their necks. Even if it is the Alps.

Do not fret. We still indulge in some 98.6 degree blood.
