Solo mission gone wrong
AmeliaQuinn asked for a oneshot of Emma falling ill whilst tracking a villain out of town. Charming has to go get her and she refuses to come home.
"Hi there." Charming said as charmingly as possible as he approached the harassed looking hospital receptionist. "I was wondering if you could help me find my…sister." Charming quickly changed direction. He forgot he wasn't in Storybrooke anymore.
"Name?" The receptionist asked him.
"Emma Swan." Charming replied. The receptionist clicked away on her keyboard until she pulled up Emma's file and read the information.
"I'm sorry, but your sister has requested that she has no visiters. I can't overrule that." The receptionist explained. When Charming saw Emma, she was going to be grounded for a heck of a lot longer than planned now.
"I see." He said quietly. "Do you happen to know if she had her phone on her when she was brought in?"
"Sorry, I don't." The receptionist asked.
"Well, thank you for your time." Charming sighed before going back and sitting down on one of the cold plastic seats. With the everygrowing villainous presence in Storybrooke, various detection spells had been set up. One of these detection spelled had picked up that there was a villain near Storybrooke in Cumberland County in Maine. After doing a bit of research in the library, it appeared this guy was the real deal, and could get pretty aggressive. It had been agreed that Charming and Emma would head off together the following morning to catch him and bring him in for questioning. Emma hadn't been keen on the idea, worried that Charming would lose his memories if he crossed the town line. So it appeared she'd snuck off herself in the middle of the night. When they found her gone the following morning, Charming had set off immediately with enough bottled magic that he could use a locator spell to find her. It had led him straight to the hospital.
Charming punched in Emma's number. It rang, so she clearly had it, and it wasn't out of charge. However, it went to voicemail.
"Emma Ruth Swan, if you do not pick up this phone and answer me and let me come up there to see what state you've got yourself into so help me you'll be grounded for a year. You have five minutes. Choose your next move carefully." Charming said quietly before hanging up and calling Snow to let her know what was going on.
The five minutes passed by slowly, Emma didn't call back. Charming sighed. Grounded for a year it was then. He had just enough magic left to find what room she was in. So he carefully snuck by the receptionist whilst she was dealing with somebody else and let the magic do it's work.
The locator spell led him up to the third floor of the hospital and halfway along the corridor. It jutted to the left before it gave out. Charming poked his head through the door. Thankfully, Emma was sitting on the bed with her arm in a sling. He cleared his throat. Emma looked up and groaned.
"They shouldn't have let you up here." She complained. "I specifically said no visiters."
"They didn't. I came up anyway." Charming told her, showing her the vial. Emma worked out what had happened. "Didn't you get my voicemail?" Emma stayed silent, telling Charming that she had. "Emma, what were you thinking sneaking off alone like that?"
"I was thinking that it was too risky for you to leave town." Emma answered him, choosing her words carefully since there were other people on the ward. "So I took action."
"And look what good it did." Charming told her, gesturing to the sling. "What happened?"
"Oh it's no big deal, I've had worse. It just got pulled out the socket when he shoved me against a wall to get away. I never caught him because some nosey old lady insisted she call an ambulance." Emma said bitterly.
"Well it's just as well she did. I dread to think what state you would have been in if you'd chased after him again. Have they fixed it?"
"Yeah. They've got a few more things they want to do. I tried to discharge myself but the doctor conveniently had the lift blocked by a patient in a bed and I didn't fancy going down the stairs after all the pain medication they gave me." Emma grumbled.
"That's fine. I can help you down now. You're discharging yourself." Charming said, taking Emma's good arm and helping her up. Emma looked at him, astounded.
"Wait. You're letting me leave hospital early?" She asked him. How much pain relief had they given her? Charming nodded.
"Yes. So I can drive you back home and have you checked into the hospital there where you're nearby and visits can be arranged." He said. Emma should have known it was too good to be true.
"It was only a couple more things." She whined. "I know how to deal with it…"
"I don't want to hear it. You're going back to hospital when we're you make a fuss so help me Emma I will put you on desk duty for the rest of your career." He warned his daughter. Emma stayed silent, seeing that he meant it. She kinda wished he had lost his memories when he crossed the line, just until someone got him back over again. That way she wouldn't be in so much trouble!
