Being brave for them
Natasha asked for a oneshot of *6x07 spoilers!*…a read and see story.
"I-I hate this!" The little boy wailed. Snow did her best to comfort her young son, but how could she do it properly when her own heart was beginning to break? Had the Evil Queen finally beaten her down so hard that she wouldn't be able to get back up? Snow mentally shook herself. Even if she did feel like that, she couldn't show it. Not in front of her son. Not in front of either of her children, or her grandson. She and Charming had to be strong for them until a solution was found. "I just don't understand! Why are you and daddy sleeping at different times? Why can't you wake him up?!" Neal began to wail again into her shoulder. Snow didn't answer then, knowing it would do no good. She instead held him tightly, rocking him back and forth until he calmed down enough to be able to listen.
"You've read about the sleeping curse in Henry's book. This is the same kind of thing, except that mommy and daddy can't wake each other up right now because we share a heart. You've not to worry though, little man. I know how scary and upsetting this is, but we're gonna fix it. I promise you that. It might take a little time, but we will fix this. Your daddy and I…we always find a way through these difficult times. You will too. We might not be awake at the same time right now, but we're both always here for you. Remember that." Neal nodded, wiping his wet cheeks with his sleeve. He pushed himself up off his mom's lap and walked over to where his daddy currently lay sleeping.
"I'm gonna be brave, mommy." He told her. Snow's heart warmed. Her little soldier. Neal then clambered up onto the bed beside Charming and curled into his side. "He won't be alone. I'll look after you both when you sleep. So when it's night time, and you wake him up, I'll be here for him. I won't leave him alone. Then I'll look after you during the day." He promised her. "So you won't be alone either." Snow once again found herself holding back her own tears. Her brave little boy. She nodded, smiling once again for him. She then walked over and got onto her side of the bed, with Neal snuggled up between them. She reached over, holding Neal and Charming together with her. For now, she would enjoy this brief moment with her boys. She believed with all her heart that they would find a way to beat this, but that didn't mean it was going to be an easy ride. So she would take the little moments of peace wherever she could find them.
