Sleeping

Soprano Pixie asked for a oneshot of *season 6 spoilers!* Emma taking the sleeping curse herself to save her parents. Based on the BTS photo of Emma asleep in a bed on set.

Snow took a deep breath, Emma's unconscious hand held in hers. With as much love as she could possibly muster, Snow bent down and pressed her lips against Emma's forehead. She pulled back, and could have cried at the fact her daughter was still sleeping.

"It's not going to work Snow." Charming croaked. Snow hadn't even known he was there. "We've tried. We've both tried together and separately. We've had Henry and Hook try. Heck, we've even had Neal try. This sleeping curse isn't going to be broken by true love's kiss in any form." Charming said gently as he came over.

Neither Snow nor Charming had wanted Emma to do this. Whilst they were both cursed, she'd approached them with the idea separately, and both had given her a flat no. She was not splitting her heart and giving it to the sleeping parent, splitting the curse three ways. That way her parents would be safe. That didn't stop her though. Whilst her mom was with Neal and her dad was sleeping, Emma split her own heart. She then protected the half still inside her so that nobody could join them again until the curse was properly cured. Emma then kissed her dad's cheek, and fell asleep herself.

Before Snow or Charming could wake her up, the Evil Queen appeared. She had clearly expected Emma to do something like this. Apparently, that's why she had created a loophole. Emma's curse couldn't be cured by the traditional means. No matter how hard everyone tried, Emma wasn't waking up.

All her parents could do was make her comfortable. Snow had selected her an elegant nightdress and braided her hair to keep it out her face. They had got her into her own bed, so she was in familiar surroundings when she woke up, and she would wake up. Snow and Charming would make sure of that.

In the meantime, Snow and Charming were insuring that Emma was never left on her own. They didn't know what the Evil Queen would do to her. This was as much torture for them as it was when the curse was between the two of them. They hated the incertainty hanging over their child.
