Skiing accident
Eva asked for a oneshot of…a read and see story.
Charming sighed, dropping his magazine to the wooden floor beside his bed. He couldn't bear to see another crossword puzzle or Sudoku. That's all he'd done since he'd been allowed to rest up in their room.
Emma had convinced her family that there was more to life than Storybrooke. They had the ability to leave the little town and return safely now, so why not? What harm could it do? Well, a lot, apparently…
Emma had mentioned to her parents that a few times she'd gone skiing with a charity that took disadvantaged kids on vacations. She'd been on other holidays with them, but the winter sport ones were her favourites. Keen to experience something with Emma, Snow, Charming, Emma, Henry and Neal had booked a two week skiing vacation at a resort in Lake Tahoe in Nevada. They had got on well at first. Emma had introduced her parents to skiing while the boys got lessons in beginner's snowboarding. Unfortunately for Charming, Emma hadn't quite taught them an emergency stop before he actually needed to use one. As a result, Charming had pressed down too hard with his right leg and the fibula snapped. Now he was spending the remainder of the two weeks in bed, and would be continuing to do so when they returned to Storybrooke next week. It was going to be a long journey home.
He was bored out of his mind already. He had insisted the rest of the family continued with their activities, but that meant he was alone for most of the day. The hotel staff were making sure he was comfortable and had everything that he needed, but he was still lonely. Even now, his family were all working on preparing dinner, so he was still bored.
Neal noticed that his daddy looked sad, so he tottered over to him.
"Daddy?" He asked. Charming looked at the little boy and smiled at him.
"Hey buddy. Did you have fun today?" He asked. Neal nodded.
"Uh huh, but why weren't you with us today, daddy?" Neal asked.
"I hurt my leg buddy, remember? I'm not allowed to get out of bed." Charming reminded his young son.
"Oh." Neal said quietly. He knew his daddy had hurt his leg, but that was ages ago to him. He thought it'd be all better by now. "Is that why you're so sad? Because your leg's still sore?" Charming hadn't seen that Neal had noticed how bummed out he was.
"Yeah buddy." He answered honestly. Neal nodded, thinking. An idea struck him.
"I know how to make you feel better!" He shouted, running out of the room. Charming laughed, watching him go. His little live wire.
Neal came back into the room a few minutes later, a piece of paper clutched proudly in his hand. He placed the paper on Charming's lap.
"This will make your leg feel all better, daddy." Neal told him. "Look, it's you, me, mommy, Emma and Henry. We're all in the snow together and your leg's all better in my drawing." Neal explained, pointing to each person." Charming's heart melted. How cute was his little boy?" He wrapped an arm around Neal, hugging him as much as his cast leg would allow.
"This is perfect, Neal. Thank you so much. My leg's starting to feel better already."
"You're welcome, daddy." Neal replied, cuddling into his dad. Now he just had to find a way to draw his cast off so he could ski again!
