Chapter 5: The Cullens
Nessie's POV
I was so angry that I didn't even know what to say at first. Blackmail! I couldn't believe it! These three had resorted to blackmailing me!!
"You're blackmailing me now? Seriously? How'd you even remove my battery?!" I fought to keep my voice down.
"I happen to be a really good mechanic," Rosalie said so matter of factly. "But you haven't answered my question. Will you come with us and talk and in exchange I will re install your battery?"
"and if I refuse?" I retorted angrily.
"Then it's quite simple. You won't be leaving this mall any time soon. We have a lot of patience and will wait all day and night until we have to," she said.
"Fine," I said. "but not until you reinstall my battery," and as soon as she did it I'd get out of here and away from them as fast as I could.
"Nope then you might just make a run for it," damn she was smarter than I thought. "How about this. You go with Alice and Bella first. I'll stay and fix your car and catch up with you guys later on?"
I gritted my teeth in anger. I tried to think of a way out of this but could see no viable option other then to agree. "Okay fine. You win. I'll go,"
"Good," she said with a smile. I very reluctantly handed her my keys.
"Come on Nessie," Bella said a little to excitedly for my liking.
I got into the backseat not quite believing everything that had just happened. "I knew you'd agree to come with us," Alice said as she slid into the driver's seat.
"Well it's not like I had much of a choice. You all would've held me hostage in the parking lot if I didn't agree,"
"We never wanted to blackmail you," Bella said as she got into the backseat with me. "But you didn't leave us much of a choice,"
"Okay what was so important that you had to resort to such extreme measures to talk to a total stranger?"
"We'll talk as soon as we get home," Bella answered. I resisted the sudden urge that I had to roll my eyes at her.
Bella smiled when she caught me looking at her. Something about her seemed really familiar. I couldn't explain what was so familiar about her. Again she reminded me of the Bella Swan that I'd written about in Twilight. Just like Alice reminded me of the Alice that I'd written about. Rosalie was definitely as beautiful and pigheaded as I'd pictured when I came with my Twilight Rosalie.
I shook my head. Maybe I was just going crazy. It was just pure coincidence that these three girls had the same names and personalities that I'd written about. One crazy strange coincidence.
I gasped when Bella touched me. Her skin was freezing like last time. Another similarity to the vampires in my story.
"Your hand is so cold. Why is that?" I asked her curiously.
"I think you already know the answer to that Nessie,"
What was she trying to tell me? I was very confused. It couldn't have anything to do with Twilight. It was just a story. A fictional story with fictional characters and fictional creatures.
We didn't say another word to each other after that. But I could still feel Bella watching me closely. Like she thought I was going to jump out of the car at any second.
I just looked out the window and tried to make sense out of where we were going. We got off of the highway and went down an unfamiliar street. The house we stopped at was bigger and nicer than any house I had ever seen. It was huge.
"We're here. Come on Nessie. Ths family is waiting to meet you," Bella said.
I got out of the car slowly feeling very anxious all of a sudden. "Don't worry Nessie you're going to be fine. We don't bite," Alice laughed.
I was nervous as I didn't quite understood what was going on. Who were these people and why did they want to talk to me? The door opened before we had even reached the porch. The man standing in the doorway caused me to pause. When I envisioned Carlisle Cullen this was the man I had imagined.
"You must be Renesmee. I'm Carlisle,"
Okay this was getting weirder and weirder by the second. Coincidence I reminded myself. One hell of a freaky ass coincidence.
"Hi. I'm sorry did you say you're name was Carlisle?"
"Dr. Carlisle Cullen. But just call me Carlisle. Come on in and meet everyone,"
My Carlisle was a doctor. A brilliant doctor. My knees were starting to tremble.
"Are you okay?" Bella asked.
"I'm fine," I lied. Mentally I was questioning everything that I thought was real and what belonged in the realm of fiction and fantasy.
Bella gripped my arm tightly. She could probably tell that I was uneasy on my feet right now. "This way," I let her lead the way.
She led me to another part of the house where several other people were waiting. My breath got caught in my throat. I recognized Jacob from the night before. I gasped when I looked around the room at every face that was present.
They were all accurate representations of the characters in my story. I didn't even need an introduction to know who I was looking at when I took in each of their faces. Esme was sitting closest to me. Smiling at me in a very motherly kind of way. The big, burly, musclar guy next to her resembled my idea of Emmett. Jasper was the guy who looked as nervous as I felt. Then my eyes traveled to the last boy standing there. The blood left my face when I spotted the boy with the bronze hair. Edward Cullen.
No. This isn't real. This isn't real. I'm just going crazy. That's all. I'm out of mind. I was hallucinating. That had to be it. Maybe this was the beginning of schizophrenia. I needed to go see a psychiatrist ASAP!
The boy (I refused to call him Edward Cullen even in my own mind) walked over to me quickly. "You're not crazy Nessie. There's nothing wrong with you. You're not hallucinating,"
"How did you-"
"Because everything you wrote is true. That's why we're here. Vampires and werewolves exist. I can read your mind and hear what you're thinking,"
"No! This is insane. It was just a story. It was just a story. It was-"
"It wasn't just a story. It's all true. The story you wrote is true. All of your characters are real. Even the Volturi. That's why we're here. The Volturi are on their way-"
I felt very dizzy and unsteady on my feet. I heard Alice say "She's going to faint," before my mind slipped into the reprieve that was unconsciousness.
