Flu jag
Karen asked for a oneshot of Emma and Neal being tricked into going to the doctor's office to get their flu shots. When they find out, their parents have to almost drag them in. You have a nice day too! Happy Thanksgiving to the Americans who read this!
Charming and Emma
"So…why do I have to wait with you guys while Neal gets his flu jag again?" Emma asked, still not fully understanding. "Wouldn't it make more sense for me to get through some paperwork at the station rather than have the dwarves on standby?"
"You know how much of a soft spot your brother has for you." Charming reminded her. "He'll probably not be too happy when he comes out and you'll be able to get him round quicker than either of us." Emma gave him a funny look. She didn't believe him, which was strange, because why would he lie to her about Neal getting a flu jag? Emma tried to put her uneasy feelings aside. She was probably just being silly.
Snow and Neal
"So when Emmy comes out you're going to give her a nice big hug. Aren't you buddy?" The five year old nodded. Snow and Charming had decided it was best to wait for Neal to find out he was getting his flu inoculation today. Last year he had screamed blue murder when he found out, so they decided the surprise was for the best. Not just for Neal, but for Emma as well. They didn't think she'd take too kindly to getting the shot either. But had she informed them she had asthma and therefore qualified for the shot and gone herself like a grownup they wouldn't have to do this. Instead, she left them to find the letter scrunched up in the bin. The next few hours could have a lot of tears for the parents, they just weren't sure yet which one of their kids would be crying the most.
Emma and Charming were already in the waiting room when Snow and Neal arrivied. Snow quickly took Neal to play with the small selection of toys so that he and Emma couldn't talk to each other before their names were called and sound the alarm.
"You seem really twitchy." Emma commented. "What's going on?"
"I just don't like Neal getting these." Charming lied. "I know he doesn't like them." Emma still thought there was more to it than that, but didn't say anything. Just then, a doctor stepped into the waiting room.
"Neal Nolan?" She asked. Neal looked up, horrified. He looked at his mother, betrayed.
"But you said-"
"Oh, no time to explain. Come on now. It'll be over in a jiffy." Snow promised her little boy, ushering in into the room while he was still too shocked to properly protest. Emma gave him an encouraging smile. He had obviously been tricked into this. Poor kid. Another doctor came into the waiting room.
"Emma Swan?" They called out. Emma looked up. Why were they calling her name? Then she looked at her dad as he got up. She began to put the pieces together. Her eyes narrowed. Her parents weren't half crafty sometimes. Charming got Emma to her feet and linked arms with her, moving her towards the doctor. Emma dragged her feet, this was downright sneaky!
"This was a dirty trick." Emma grumbled. "You've played both of us."
"Well we wouldn't have had to play either of you if Neal would stop overreacting and you had been an adult and gone in the first place. We didn't even know you had asthma, which should be on your records for working at the station so don't even get me started. It'll be over soon." Charming promised her. Emma looked at the doctor, who was smiling at her with the needle in his hand. She wanted to punch him in the face. Stupid, happy doctor.
"This will only hurt a bit." He promised her.
"Like I haven't heard that before." Emma muttered under her breath as she took off her hoodie and, reluctantly, gave a clear shot at her arm for the doctor. Emma looked away as he swabbed the area. She hated needles. She winced at the pinching feeling as it went in.
"That's you Miss Swan." The Doctor told her, covering the small prick with a little plaster. Charming gave the doctor a thank you when Emma stomped past him moodily. He sped up to catch up with her. Snow and Neal were waiting for them in the waiting room. Neal was blowing furiously into a hankie. He had a "flu fighter" sticker on his jumper and a lollipop clutched tightly in his hand. Emma was outraged.
"No fair! You didn't even get the proper jag, you clearly just got the nasal spray one. How come I didn't get a stinking lollipop?!" Emma asked.
"We'll get you one at home for being a big, brave girl." Snow teased her. Snow and Charming just looked at each other. Apparently it would be their eldest who would be giving them the most grief over this.
