Chapter 7: Truth
Nessie's POV
I could feel myself waking up again. I tried to recall the last thing I'd heard before I'd fainted for the second time. What was it that Bella had said? Oh yeah I was her's and Edward's half human half vampire daughter. I felt slightly nauseated. This was a bit to much for a girl to take.
I opened my eyes and saw that Edward and Bella standing there staring at me with concerned looks on their faces. They looked so young. They had to be around the same age as me. No older then 17 or 18. How could they be my parents?
Edward smiled at me. "We don't age, remember?"
"What?" Bella asked him confused.
"She was wondering how it's possible for us to be her parents when we look like teenagers. She forgot that we don't age,"
I took a deep breath.
"I know that this is a lot to take in sweetie," Bella said sweetly. "But you'll get used to it,"
"Get used to it? I literally just found out that vampires exist and that I'm half vampire myself. I'm not sure that's something that I can get used to,"
"It may take time but you certainly will get used to it," she said.
"So is everything I wrote true? Every single word of it?"
"Every single word. Even all the conversations that took place in your stories are accurate to the word. It's kind of scary actually," Bella answered.
"But how? How could it all be that accurate?"
"We don't know," Edward spoke. "We're just as confused by this as you are,"
"So what happens next?" I asked thinking of the Volturi who were currently on their way to kill me.
"We're going to figure this out,"
"No offense but that is not exactly reassuring," I stated calmly.
"Don't worry baby. This isn't our first time dealing with the Volturi," Bella added.
"Just so you know I'm the type of person who hears don't worry and automatically worries more in response. And don't tell me to calm down because that doesn't work on me either,"
"She's just as stubborn and difficult as you are Bella,"
"Hey don't blame it on me you're just as stubborn as I am,"
I couldn't stop the smile that spread across my face and I started laughing. I was laughing at two not so fictional characters from my imagination. Where has my sanity gone to?
"Can I go home now?" I asked.
"Actually Nessie we think it's safer if you stay here with us. We don't want to leave you unprotected," Bella said.
"Look I have parents that will go looking for me if I don't return home. They'll probably get the entire police force out to look for me," Okay maybe I was over exaggerating a little. "I can't put my family through that kind of stress. So can't we work something else out?"
"She does have a good point Bella. What if we watched over her while she's at home?"
Bella hesitated and thought about it. "Okay as long as we're keeping an eye on her,"
Well there goes my privacy now.
"You won't even know we're there,"
"Actually Edward I will know you're there. Out of sight maybe but definitely still there and reading my mind at all times,"
"She's a feisty one alright. I wonder where she gets that from?"
Bella rolled her eyes.
"Can I go home now?"
"Um Nessie you just fainted twice in one day. I think that you should wait a few hours before driving," Bella said nervously.
"Fine. But can you at least get my phone back from Jacob? I have his in my bag,"
Bella looked embarrassed as she took my phone out of her pocket. "Wait why do you have my phone?"
"We wanted to find out more about you and if you had anything incriminating on here. So we sort of, kind of, asked Emmett to hack into your phone,"
I was mortified. I mean I didn't have anything bad like nude pictures or anything but still!
"You really do like to spend money on that Pokémon Go game don't you?" she said as she handed me my phone. I blushed a bright crimson red for some reason.
"You hacked into my phone and looked at all of my s-"
"We didn't want to violate your privacy Ness. We're just trying to safeguard our secret," Edward spoke. I was to mortified and angry to come up with a response.
"You should get some rest Nessie," Bella said as she and Edward walked out of the room. Leaving me there by myself.
I looked at my phone to see if I had any missed phone calls. Thankfully there was none. I laid my head down and closed my eyes. Then I opened then again. I stayed in bed there for awhile longer until Carlisle came to check on me and determined that it was safe for me to drive home.
My parents still weren't home so they hadn't even known that I was missing. I walked past my brother who was busy doing something on his computer.
"Ewww what's that smell?" he made a gagging sound when I walked by him.
"That smell. It's so sweet but not in a good way either. It's very sickly sweet. Is that a new perfume that you're wearing? Because if it is I think you should return it and get your money back,"
I rolled my eyes. "I think you're smell-lucinating Nick. I'm not wearing any new purfume and I don't smell anything,"
"I'm serious," he said.
"So am I," I said. "What are you doing anyway? I know it's not homework since it's barely the first day of winter break,"
He hesitated and looked at me. "Can you keep a secret?" he asked.
"Yes,"
"Okay but you have to promise not to tell mom and dad. You know how they get when we ask about where we came from,"
"Your secret is safe with me Nick," it seemed like my life was all about secrets nowadays. So what was one more?"
"A few weeks ago I bought one of those 23 and Me tests. You know the one that tests your DNA to find out where you're from?"
"Yes I know what that is," I'd thought doing it myself a few times but was to scared I'd get caught. Now I wonder what kind of freaky crap the scientists would've found in my DNA had I done it.
"I got my results back today. It turns out I'm half Mexican and half Native American. More specifically half Quileute. From the Quileute tribe in Washington. But that's all I know. I don't know if I have any living biological relatives,"
