I do not own Inuyasha

Ch. 8

Sesshomaru woke early and did his morning routine. It felt kind of weird not to go to his father's house and see Rin, but today would be different.

Today he had plans to take with Silas.

Sesshomaru did some work while he waited for nine o'clock. A good time to call someone

Sesshomaru managed to draft up two new contracts by the time nine o'clock came around. He paused in his work and picked up his phone.

ring…ring…ring

"Hello?"

"Good morning Silas. This is Sesshomaru," he replied.

"Oh Sesshomaru, good morning. How can I be of service?" Silas yawned at the end of his sentence.

"Did I just wake you?" Sesshomaru questioned a little worried that he woke up the man.

"Oh no. I woke up a couple minutes ago. Just now brewing up some coffee and I'll be right as rain."

"The reason why I am calling Silas is that I would like to discuss some things over with you. Without Rin present."

"Huh," Silas paused in silent contemplation, "well Rin is planning on going to a friends house to spend the night, but that won't be till the afternoon. May be come around 3 o'clock. If that is alright with you that is."

"That will be fine. I will come over then," but before Silas you say bye, Sesshomaru had already hung up.

Silas couldn't be too put out by it because his coffee just got done and Ran just roused herself from bed.

XOXO

Sesshomaru pulled up in front of the house at exactly 3 o'clock. He was always prompt with his schedule.

He got out of his car and walked up the drive and up to the door and knocked.

Two seconds later, Silas opened the door.

"Hello Sesshomaru. Come in, come in," he said, stepping aside to let the demon in.

"Can I get you something? Water, iced tea, coffee…?"

"Nothing thank you," Sesshomaru replied, already getting reacquainted with the living room. He also once again zoned in on one photo, the one when Rin was born.

"Okay then. What did you want to talk about?" Silas shifted slightly from foot to foot, a little uneasy.

Sesshomaru noticed but ignored his behavior. He then picked up the photo and handed it to Silas. The next thing he said nearly made Silas drop the picture.

"You are not Rin's uncle are you?"

After a moment of silence and shock, Silas sat down with picture in hand.

"Did your father tell you?" Silas asked, a steely tone added to his voice.

"So you dod not deny it?"

"Just answer the damned question Sesshomaru," Silas raised his voice a little hight this time.

Sesshomaru paused a moment and answered.

"No."

"How then did you figure it out?" Silas asked a little bit perturbed.

"Scent, the pictures, but most importantly were the dimples," Sesshomaru commented and then took a seat next to the man who was now white knuckled and breathing hard.

Sesshomaru didn't say anything till Silas calmed down. Silas was the next to speak though.

"You have to understand. I have not told anyone this except you father and that was in a drunken stupor a couple months after Rin was born. Mizuki, Rin's mother, was the love of my life. My twin brother tended to be the most volatile of the two of us, and nabbed her right from underneath of me, being the bad boy that he was.

"While I went and did dance, he went and became a big shot engineer.

"Don't get me wrong, I cared for my brother deeply, but when he married Mizuki I became deeply envious.

"Two years after their marriage they had Ruko. I became an uncle. Soon after though, their marriage became a little unstable. My brothers career took off and he ended up spending a majority of the time out of town. I became the dutiful uncle during this times. My motivations were to keep them company and nothing more.

"I kept my distance till one Mizuki came to my house with Ruko in tow, crying her eyes out. Ruko had just turned three."

Silas paused then, deep in thought and memory, then continued.

"You can probably guess what happened next. The next month she came to me telling me she was pregnant. My brother had been out of town, so the child growing inside of her was obviously mine.

"And I didn't have the gum-shin to tell my brother. Neither did Mizuki. So we both agreed that that night never happened and I watched from the sidelines as I always have.

"The day Rin was born," he paused to look at the picture, "I was very close to telling my brother what happened, but seeing all of them so happy, I just couldn't. So I vented everything to your father kind of like I am tell you now."

Silas paused again, set down the photo and turned to look Sesshomaru straight in the eye.

"Sesshomaru I must now swear you into the utmost secrecy. Rin must not know. Can you do this for me Sesshomaru?"

"Yes Silas. Your secret is safe with me."

Silas nodded, got up, took the photo and put it back, went to a cupboard and got out two glasses and some scotch. He didn't ask Sesshomaru if he wanted and, just handed him the glass and took a big swig of the amber liquid. Sesshomaru took a sip and enjoyed the slight burn that went down his throat.

After another pause, Silas spoke up again.

"So what are your plans for my niece?"

"Meaning?"

"Mating?"

Sesshomaru mulled over his answer very carefully in his head.

"My plan is to mate with her after the competition."

"No wedding…?" Silas let the statement hang.

"If she wants one then yes, but you should know demons don't put much stock in human rituals."

"Oh I understand, but you also have to understand she is human. Just food for thought."

Food for thought was right.

Sesshomaru stayed for another hour with Silas before he decided to leave. It was an eye opening conversation and something Sesshomaru wouldn't've let go till he got answers.

The rest of the day was spent working and planning and waiting for the next day to arrive.

XOXO
