Crossing the road

A guest asked for a oneshot of Charming insisting on holding an adult Emma's hand while crossing the street because she never looks when she's in a hurry or on a chase. He says he'll do it until he knows she's not a danger to herself.

"This is ludicrous." Emma muttered, shoving her hands in her pockets. Charming just gave Emma his "dad look" and kept his hand where it was. "I'm not taking it." Emma said stubbornly. She went to cross the road, but Charming held her back.

"You are not crossing that road. It's your own fault you're in this mess, Emma Ruth. Time and time again I've warned you to look both ways before crossing, even if we're mid-pursuit. You nearly got ran over last time. Do you have any idea how frightening that was? You could have gotten yourself killed. So, until you have proven to me that you have changed your ways and I know you're not a danger to yourself, this is the way we're doing things. Perhaps a little embarrassment will jog your memory on how you should properly cross a road." Emma stared at her dad's hand like it had sprouted tentacles. "I can wait here all day." He warned her. "The quicker you do this, the quicker you get your lunch. There's nobody around, anyway." He promised her. Emma sighed. She whipped one hand out of her pocket and placed it into her dad's hand. Emma then went to pull him across, but he held her back. "See, this is exactly why we're doing this. You haven't looked both ways." Emma's eyes narrowed as she looked both left and right. "Good. Now we can go." Emma then sped forward across the road and quickly dropped her dad's hand.

"Happy?" She grunted. Charming restrained himself from chuckling.

"Not exactly, but at least you're getting back into good habits." He reminded her. Emma growled, stomping ahead of him into Granny's. Charming smiled after her. She would have been a right handful as a teenager.
