Chivalry runs in the family
A guest asked for a oneshot of *mid-season finale spoilers!* Charming finding out about Emma slicing the EQ's cheek in the graveyard for mocking him and Snow. He's a mixture of proud and concerned. Emma says she'll always defend him, she learned it from him.
Sorry about the slight delay between chapters in a batch just now. I seem to be having some issues posting. My laptop is getting a little old :/. The only reason there isn't any today is because I've given up on mine and I'm uploading from my dad's.
"You tried to take on the Evil Queen?" Charming croaked. He placed his hands on his hips, his standard "dad" pose. Emma smiled at him. Of course that was the piece he took away from the information he'd just been given.
"Yes, but that's beside the point. I only told you the whole story because you insisted. What matters is that we know the Evil Queen can be defeated without hurting Regina." She reminded her dad. Charming sighed, rubbing his temple. He came over and crouched down in front of Emma.
"Yes, that's good and important, however, not my top priority. My priority is keeping you and the rest of our family safe. You running towards the Evil Queen with a sword isn't helping me with that." Charming said. Emma could see something behind his lecture.
"And you aren't just a teeny bit impressed that I used a sword? Your own particular choice of weapon?" Emma teased him. Despite himself, Charming smiled slightly. "A-ha! I knew it! See, you can't lecture me when you're actually proud of me." Emma said smugly. Charming rolled his eyes.
"I can and I will." He told her. "I'm the parent here, I decide when you can be lectured, thank you very much. Emma, I understand that you wanted to defend your mother and I. I get that she made you see red. But I need you to try and stay calm around her. She's dangerous, and I don't want to give her the chance to hurt you, understand?" Emma frowned.
"You said it yourself, you're saying all this because you want to protect your family. How can I not see red when I have you as an example?" Emma defended herself. Charming laughed.
"Try." He asked, getting up. "Now, I'm going to wake your mom up. She will be given a note detailing everything you've told me with an addition that if you're still here when she gets up, you've not to receive a second lecture. Sound fair."
"Well not exactly." Emma grumbled, folding her arms across her chest. Charming chuckled.
"Oh well then." He said, leaning in and kissing her forehead. "Please, remember what I said. I love you, Emma."
"I love you too." Emma sighed sadly, watching her dad go and write the note before he went to wake her mom up. It was just so hard watching them like this. How could she stay calm when the Evil Queen taunted her about it? Emma just wished there was more she could do to help fix things.
