I don't need to put any disclaimers because I think it's pointless. It's not like anyone here is going to think I own both One Piece and Azur Lane if I do not say I don't own them. Am I right?

Chapter 4
Set Sail

The food court at New Marineford was more crowded than usual. Belfast and Dido had got themselves a job at that place, and both their serving skills combined were better than any of the staff members originally there.

With great mannerisms and highly skilled serving methods, the two maids were able to impress the guests to that place and make eating experience much better.

Their physical attractive also played a role. The Marines commented about not having seen such beautiful women on the island before and perhaps in their lives. It was safe to say that many of them came to this place just to get a glimpse on those two and fall in love with them.

A Marine ship docked at an empty spot of the harbor as multiple Marines came close to it to greet whoever was coming down from it. They noticed that G-5 was printed on its side.

"It's from G-5, huh…" said one of the Marines.

"That means it's Vice Admiral Smoker on that ship," said another one.

The Marines watched as Smoker and Tashigi came down from the ship, followed by some other low ranking Marines, while the ones at the dock saluted them. Upon reaching dry ground, the low ranking Marines immediately let out cheers of excitement while rushing off in their own direction. "Let's hit the food court!" they shouted.

"Hey! Don't cause a ruckus here! This is sacred ground of the Marines!" Tashigi called out to them.

"Ignore them. They won't dare to cause trouble in this kind of place, no matter how crazy they are," Smoker assured her. "The fleet admiral called us, so don't keep him waiting!"

As Smoker and Tashigi were led by another higher-ranking Marines to the main building, Enterprise was present at the side, watching the newcomers. Smoker took notice of her and said to himself mentally that he never saw her before, but he decided to ignore this matter for now and continued on his way.

"Who is he?" Enterprise asked a nearby Marine while eying Smoker.

"He's the vice admiral of the Marine Base G-5," that Marine told her. "The folks at G-5 are known for their rowdiness and violence, yet Smoker is able to keep them under control, for the most part, and not get driven insane by them. I heard he willingly chose that base of operation himself when nobody else would!"

"I see…" said Enterprise with a nod.

Meanwhile, the Marines who went into the restaurant were struck with love at first sight upon seeing Belfast and Dido, and the former welcomed them and told them to take their seats.

While on their way to the main building, Smoker and Tashigi noticed several large battleships docked at the side of the island, and they have never seen ships designed like that before. "I don't remember seeing those ships the last time I came here…" said Tashigi. "I don't even think we Marines have ships like that…"

"Are they newly built?" Smoker asked one of the Marines leading him.

"They are new around here, but I think the fleet admiral will do the explaining better," replied that Marines. "In fact, I have the feeling that he called you here to talk about those battleships."

"What is important about those ships that he had to call us here?" wondered Smoker.

Not long afterwards, Smoker and Tashigi arrived at Sakazuki's office, and the fleet admiral told them straightforwardly about the ship girls and their arrival to this place.

"That… That sounds unbelievable!" commented Tashigi.

"Regardless of what you think, that's the truth," Sakazuki told her. "Until they find a way back to their own world, they will be part of the Marines. The reason I called you both back is because I am thinking of sending them on scouting duty today, and considering that they are new to this world, they will need guides. I will be splitting them into three groups, and I want you to keep watch on one of the groups."

"Is that what you called us back for? I don't care what they are or where they are from, but I'm afraid I don't have the time to babysit a bunch of girls," said Smoker, sounding annoyed and unwilling.

"They have proven themselves to be capable of combat, and it's not like they are immature," Sakazuki told him. "All of you have to do is take them along with you wherever you go and let them deal with pirates you come across. Keep an eye on their feats and judge for yourself what you think."

Smoker didn't exactly like this command. Even though he was able to get the violent and rowdy Marines of G-5 under his control, it was still a frustrating task keeping an eye on them at all times. Because of this, he wasn't sure if he could keep an eye on a bunch of girls who claim to be personification of battleships from another world.

"Fine…" he said reluctantly.

Later, all 20 ship girls were gathered at the dock, albeit split into three groups.

The first group consists of Enterprise, Javelin, Laffey, Zuikaku, Shigure, Gascogne, and Taihou. They were to travel alongside Smoker.

The second group consists of Bismarck, Prinz Eugen, Graf Spee, Gangut, Z23, and Alabama. They were to travel alongside Vice Admiral Tsuru.

The third group consists of Hood, Belfast, Dido, Akashi, Akagi, Kaga, and Ayanami. They would be traveling with Koby, who was the captain of his own ship.

Looking at the G-5 ship, Javelin said, "So we will be boarding this ship?"

"Doesn't look as advanced as our ships," said Laffey.

"Yeah, I get what you mean, but I'm sure looks aren't everything," said Javelin.

Zuikaku approached them from behind and said, "Get your riggings ready. We won't be setting sail in their true forms. The fleet admiral suggested this because they would attract too much attention out there."

Hearing this, the two headed over to where their ships were docked alongside the other ship girls. Standing in front of each of their ships, they pointed their arms at them, and then each of the ships glowed brightly before disintegrating into glowing cubes and then heading over to the ship girls, becoming their riggings. The Marines were surprised to see this, even if most of them already saw it the other day.

"Whoa! Did you see that, Smoker?! Those giant battleships… They… turned into those things the girls are carrying!" said Tashigi.

Even though Smoker didn't show much expression change on his face, he was still surprised to see such a thing.

Turning to Smoker and Tashigi, Enteprise approached them and salute, "Aircraft Carrier USS Enterprise of the Eagle Union! You are my commanding office for this scouting mission, right? I am at your service!"

Tashigi also saluted and said, "Captain Tashigi of Marine Base G-5! It is an honor to meet you!"

The other ship girls who were going to board Smoker's ship also saluted in the same manner as Enterprise. Even someone lax like Taihou behaved in the same manner.

Meanwhile, Tsuru approached the group of ship girls that were going to accompany her. "This will be your first mission out at sea," she told them. "I hope you are prepared to face whatever may come your way."

"We are ready, Vice Admiral Tsuru," Bismarck told her.

"No offense, but… you look like you are too old for this sort of thing…" Gangut said to her.

"You shouldn't say that sort of thing to elders, you know. It's disrespectful…" Graf Spee told the Russian ship girl.

Tsuru didn't show any form of offended expression, but instead patiently said, "I've been told that before, but don't let old age fool you. Age is sometimes sign of maturity and power. You have seen for yourself what Vice Admiral Garp is capable of doing even at his age."

"Thanks for the reminder…" said Z23, thinking of the way Garp threw cannonballs yesterday.

Koby and Helmeppo approached the ship girls they would be accompanying, and the former said to them, "It's an honor to be able to ride the same ship as you. Even though we are on duty, I still hope you find enjoyment sailing the seas of our world!"

"You're the captain of a ship?" Hood asked him.

Koby nodded. "Indeed I am. Even though my ranking is just captain, I have already proven myself talented enough to lead a ship and a small army."

"He's a lot better in this sort of thing than you think," Helmeppo told the ship girls. "And to think that he used to be a nothing but an underwhelming chore boy… The same can be said for me. We both had low beginnings and fought hard to reach our current position."

"Then I look forward to your guidance, commander!" Akagi said to Koby with a wink that seems seductive in nature.

Helmeppo noticed such an action and could tell that she was secretly flirting Koby, who appeared to be oblivious to this. The former simply gave a "tsk" in response.

Soon after that, everyone boarded his or her respective ships and then set sail.

Aboard Smoker's ship, there was a large amount of excitement among the low ranking Marines due to the fact that there are currently more women than just Tashigi onboard.

The ship girls were standing in close proximity to each other as the Marines eyed them from some feet away with lustful eyes and even whistled at them in excitement. They talked among each other about how attractive they are.

"Woohoo! More women on the board, the better!"

"Man! They look stunningly hot!"

"I can't believe they are riding with us!"

"I call dibs on the white-haired girl!"

"That black-haired guy in a kimono is smoking hot! And I thought you couldn't find someone even more attractive than the Pirate Empress Hancock!"

Despite the Marines' lustful behaviors, the ship girls didn't feel uneasy at all, especially Taihou. Taihou, unsurprisingly, loved the attention she was receiving, and she responded by winking and blowing kisses at them, actions that made the men howl like crazy.

"Don't go drooling all over our guests!" Tashigi angrily said to the Marines. "Stop scaring them and give them some personal space!" But they ignored her.

"Oh, it's all right," Taihou told Tashigi. "It's not their fault that I am so beautiful! I quite love the attention I'm receiving!"

"I do admit it can get a bit creepy, but as long as they're friendly, it's all right," said Javelin, who actually felt the most uneasy among the ship girls, even if a little.

Enterprise ignored those men and instead went up to Smoker, who was standing at the front of the ship. "Vice Admiral Smoker," she said to him. "What are your plans? We ships are ready to do whatever you want us to do."

"Nothing much other than scouting the sea for pirates," he replied, turning around to look at her. "Hopefully you will get the chance to show me what you are capable of. You said you are battleships brought to life, right?"

Enterprise nodded. "Yes, we used to be ordinary ships created by humans, until we were granted life by objects called Wisdom Cubes."

"That sure is something hard to wrap my head around. I don't think there are Devil Fruits capable of such feats…" said Smoker. "So back in your world, you battled aliens from the future called Sirens?"

"Indeed," replied Enterprise. "They have been terrorizing the sea for years, thus making it hard and even impossible for humanity to travel the seas. We have been battling them for years, but their reign of terror doesn't seem to be coming to an end at all."

"The same is said for our world," said Smoker as he turned towards the sea. "Pirates are everywhere nowadays. I became Marine because I wanted to make the sea safe for people to travel on, but it seems that no matter how hard I fight, I can never seem to put an end to those dastardly pirates!"

"I can understand how you feel," said Enterprise. "We both are fighting seemingly endless wars. However, I always tell myself that as long as it is for the sake of making the world a better place for humanity, then I shall fight until my last breath!"

"That's the attitude all Marines should have," said Smoker. "It's people like us that are capable of making the innocents travel the sea safer and also sleep better at night."

Just then, a Marine came up to Smoker and said to him, "A pirate ship spotted on the starboard, Vice Admiral Smoker!"

Smoker turned to said direction and looked through a pair of binoculars the Marine handed him. "It's a pirate ship all right," he said. "Judging by the jolly roger, it's the Eldoraggo Pirates." He then turned to his men and called out to them, telling them to get ready for arrest those pirates.

The Marines raised their arms and shouted in excitement, some of them saying that they want to burn those pirates alive. Seeing the pirate ship in the distance, Zuikaku said, "Well then, time to put our skills to use in this world for the first time for real!"

Meanwhile, onboard Vice Admiral Tsuru's ship, some of the ship girls were leaning against the side, watching the scenery, hoping to find something new here not found in their world.

It didn't take long for them to spot some fish jumping out of the water. However, the fish look strange, looking nothing like the ones found back in their world. The fish were pink in color and snouts similar to that of pigs'.

"What are those…?" asked Z23.

"I have never seen fish like those before…" said Alabama. "They look like a cross between pigs and flying fish…"

"That's not normal, is it…?" said Z23.

"Maybe it is normal here in this world," said the Native American ship with a shrug.

Suddenly, a large serpentine creature with yellow skin and black stripes leaped out of the water in an arc formation. The ship girls were surprised to see such a creature. "What is that?!" asked Gangut.

"That looks a lot like the creature we fought back in our world!" pointed out Bismarck.

"That's a Sea King," Tsuru, who was seated on a chair placed on the deck, told them. "They are some of the most powerful and dangerous creatures of the sea, though the one you saw just now is one of the less dangerous kind."

"Creatures like that roam the sea often?" asked Prinz Eugen.

Tsuru nodded. "Yes, which is why traveling at sea isn't easy and safe. You need to have experience and fighting power in order to brave the seas. As powerful as Sea Kings are, however, they are no match for powerful fighters and Marine battleship weaponries, so have no fear. If a Sea King does attack us, we can easily repel it."

"Looks like it will take a while for us to get used to this place…" commented Graf Spee.

A Marine then came up to Tsuru and said to her, "Vice Admiral, there's an island up ahead, and smoke appears to be coming up out of it."

Tsuru eyed the direction the Marine was pointing and noticed that there was indeed an island that appeared to be smoking, and it wasn't coming out of a volcano. She narrowed her eyes for a better look before asking for a pair of binoculars. She was given one, and looking through it, she was able to see a pirate ship docked at the shore.

She tried to make out the jolly roger, but couldn't due to the back of the flag facing her direction, and the wind wasn't doing any good to make it turn around.

"There's a town there under attack," she said as she lowered the binoculars. "Sail for that island. We will rescue the townsfolk and arrest the pirates."

"Yes, Vice Admiral!" said the Marine, and then everyone else immediately got busy.

"Would you like us to head over to that island first?" Bismarck asked Tsuru. "We can move at a faster speed, so we can get there first. I believe that time is of essence if we want to rescue as many people as possible before they lose their lives."

"That is a good idea," Tsuru said with a nod. "You have my permission to head over there first. Be careful of the enemy, whoever it may be."

Bismarck nodded and then told the ship girls that they were sailing for the island first. Obeying her command, they headed to the side of the ship and jumped onto the water, standing on the surface when they touched it. Moving the fastest they could, the ship girls "skated" across the water surface to get to the island.

The Marines watched in awe, and one of them said, "Look at them go!"

"Incredible! They can run on water!" said another one.

"Fascinating indeed," said Tsuru in agreement.

It only took about a minute for the ship girls to arrive at the island. Getting on shore near the pirate ship, they looked at the destroyed town in front and were horrified.

Saying that the town was destroyed was an understatement. The town was completely annihilated, to the point that it was might as well no longer exist.

Buildings were demolished badly, and some were still burning. There were also dead bodies of people lying around, some still in one piece but badly mauled and some no longer in one piece. It was a sight that horrified the ship girls.

"Geez, this place is a mess…" commented Gangut.

"This is horrible…!" said Graf Spee. "Who could have done such a thing?!"

The ship girls walked through the ruins of the town, looking around with horrified faces at the devastating destruction caused. The sight of dead bodies lying around made them feel disgusted.

Behind them, the flag of the pirate ship was waving around constantly due to the wind blowing against it. If they were to stop to look at the flag, they would see that the jolly roger consisted of a skull with a pair of bull-like horns and three bones crossing through it.

As they headed deeper into the town, they began to hear people talking, and cheerful-sounding voices at that. They headed towards the source of the voice and saw some people seated around a pile of fire while eating and drinking.

The ship girls hid behind a wrecked a building to spy on them. "They must be the pirates," said Graf Spee.

"No doubt they are celebrating over their pillaging here," said Gangut.

"What are your orders, Bismarck?" Eugen asked the Iron Blood leader.

"We don't know anything about our enemies, so it's best that we wait for the Vice Admiral and the Marines to come first," replied Bismarck.

Suddenly, someone shouted out loud. "The Marines are here!" shouted a guy with shades as he ran over to the pirates celebrating. He actually ran past the ship girls but didn't notice them.

The other pirates turned to him in shock and began talking among each other what to do. Among the pirates, there was one person who stood out the most. He was much taller than everyone else and also had a massive build. He also had a pair of horns on his head and wore a metal jaw mask.

"What do we do, Captain Jack?" one of the pirates asked him.

"What do we do? Why are you even asking that question? Of course we crush them all!" replied the massive man known as Jack.

Hearing this, the pirates threw their arms and weapons into the air while shouting in excitement. Despite knowing that law enforcement was arriving, they weren't afraid at all and were instead eager to fight back against them.

"And if you guys haven't noticed yet, there are already rats spying on us from nearby," said Jack as he raised a scythe-like weapon.

The ship girls were surprised when they heard this and wondering if he was talking about them. They were given an answer when Jack threw the scythe at the building they were hiding behind.

The scythe cut through the building walls and came out right in front of Bismarck, hitting her in the face. Normally, such a blow would be fatal and cut a person's face in half, but for a ship girl with tough skin, Bismarck simply fell back, suffering no injuries, while the scythe bounced into the air.

The ship girls were shocked as they ran out of their hiding places and approached Bismarck, who was standing back up, in concern. They then watched the pirates approaching them.

"Look who we have here!" said one of them. "A bunch of attractive girls!"

"I didn't know they have such attractive women in the Marines!" said another one, sounding perverted.

"They sure have guts coming after us Beast Pirates with such a small number!" said a female pirate.

The ship girls got into fighting stances, and Bismarck unsheathed her sword and pointed it at them, saying, "Evil pirates! What you did to this place is unforgivable! In the name of the Marines, we shall strike down all of you! Surrender know and we shall show mercy!"

The pirates simply laughed at her threat. Jack was unimpressed, however. "You are an idiot," he said in an intimidating tone. "Do you have any idea who I am? I am Jack the Drought, one of the All-Stars serving Kaido! Who do you think you are that you can come against me and think you can get away alive?"

The ship girls froze in shock upon hearing what he said. "Kaido? Isn't that the name of one of the Yonko, as in the strongest pirates in the world?" said Z23.

"And we're standing face to face with his crew…?" said Graf Spee, sounding nervous.

"Well, this sucks for us… Having to run into a big shot in our first mission here…" grumbled Gangut with a nervous expression.

Though Bismarck was nervous at the thought of facing someone from a powerful pirate crew, she tried to put up a fearless expression and said to Jack, "We are not afraid of you! Who said we are the only ones here? We have reinforcements on the way here! You're the one not getting out of here alive!"

"Let them come! We shall crush all of them and send their corpses back to their headquarters!" said Jack loudly. The other pirates fearlessly said similar things.

"If that is how you want it, then so be it!" said Bismarck. "All ships! Get ready to engage!"

Aboard Koby's ship, the ship girls were hanging out on the deck, watching the scenery.

Seeing an odd creature swimming close to the water surface, Ayanami asked with a rather freaked out face, "Is that an eel with the head of a rabbit…?" Said creature poked its head out of the water and clearly revealed that it was an eel with the head of a rabbit. The strange creature stared at the ship girls, who were also staring at it for a few seconds, before diving back underwater.

"This world sure has strange fauna…" commented Kaga.

Behind them, Koby was asking Akagi about her ears and tails. "Are those real?"

"They are," replied Akagi with a nod. "Most ships from the Sakura Empire have animal body parts or horns. Don't you have such people in your world?"

"None of that I can think of, though I think Zoan Devil Fruits might be able to replicate this," replied Koby. "Not sure if this is similar, but other than humans, we also have species such as giants, fishmen, mermen, minks, dwarves, and more! Apparently, there are also people living in the sky, and they may or may not be considered a different species!"

"Wow… It sounds like a fairy tale world we are in right now!" commented Dido, sounding amazed.

"Looks like this world is a lot more interesting than I thought!" said Belfast, also sounding amazed.

"By contrast, our world sounds… boring…" said Akashi.

"But the technology of your world is far superior to ours, right? That sounds pretty awesome! I would love to see some of the high-tech stuff your world has to offer!" said Koby.

"I've only met Vegapunk for a short while before being called to join in on this mission, but I can already tell that he is the sort of guy who can make your world as high-tech as ours-nya!" said Akashi.

"Yeah, people say his mind is that of 500 years from now," said Koby. "A genius like him is unheard of, which is why the Marine and the World Government values him so much."

Suddenly, they heard the sound of explosion. Turning to the direction it was coming from, they saw smoke and fire coming from an island in the distance. "What happened?!" asked Hood.

"There are pirate ships over on that island, and they're pillaging the town there!" said a Marine, looking at the island with a telescope.

"Then we're heading over there to arrest them!" said Koby. He gave out orders for the Marines to sail the ship in that direction. The ship girls also put on their riggings that they had previously taken off and left lying around on the deck.

As the ship approached the island, the Marines were able to get a better look at the pirate ship until they were able to identify it properly.

"That's quite a well-decorated ship," commented Akagi. "Almost looks like it's made out of cake…"

"I guess the captain of this crew has quite a sweet tooth," said Hood. She then noticed the Marines all had look of horror and nervousness on their faces.

"Um… What's wrong? You all look like you've seen a ghost…" asked Akashi, also noticing this.

"That ship… and the flag…" said a Marine while trembling violently.

"It's… It's…" said another one.

"The Big Mom Pirates…!" said a third one.

It took a few seconds for the ship girls to remember what the name Big Mom is all about, and looks of surprise appeared on their faces when they did so.

Within the wrecked town of the island, close to the shore, some pirates were standing there, having seen the Marine ship that was approaching.

Two particular people stood out in particular. One was a muscular man with orange hair, while the other one was a large bearded man armed with a sword and a shield that resembles a biscuit.

"Looks like the Marines are here," said the orange-haired man. "What do you we do, Cracker?"

"Isn't it obvious? If they dare come here to interfere with us, then we'll crush them!" said the bearded man.

"If you say so, and that's fine with me," said the orange-haired man as the air around him started to heat up. "I was in the just the mood to fight someone anyway!"

On Smoker's side, the ship girls managed to make a short work of Eldoraggo and his crew.

The pirate crew didn't have much chance to fight back, as the ship girls bombarded their ship with their artilleries from afar at sea. Normally, the pirate ships were able to withstand cannon shots to some extent, but not so against the more powerful and more high-tech cannon shots of the ship girls.

In just a few shots, Eldoraggo's ship was close to sinking, and the crew onboard went crazy trying to save salvage things somehow. Eldoraggo himself refused to go down without a fight, so he unleashed the power of his Scream Scream Fruit by shouting loudly to fire a massive beam from his mouth.

The ship girls were surprised by this attack, but fortunately, it was easy to avoid. After more firing from their artilleries, they were able to give Eldoraggo some nasty burns from there firepower.

His second-in-command, Golass, refused to go down without a fight as well. Having no Devil Fruit powers, he fearlessly jumped out to sea with his sword in hand, hoping to cut down one of the ship girls. While he was good with the sword, he was no match for the more superior Zuikaku, though one could say she had the upper hand the due to her sword being covered in fire and therefore having more cutting power.

With a single swing of her burning sword, she was able to break Golass's sword and cut down the massive dark-skinned man, knocking him out

Just like that, Eldoraggo and his pirates were taken down in a matter of minutes. Smoker and his Marine crew did nothing at all and were in awe at how the ship girls fought.

"They're incredible!" commented Tashigi. The Marines commented the same as well.

No sooner afterwards, the Marines got busy with arresting the pirates before they could escape by swimming.

The ship girls got back onto Smoker's ship, and the vice admiral himself was applauding them for their job well done. "I'll admit. You sure surprised me. That was much better than I thought!"

"It is our duty to take down enemies that terrorize the sea," Enterprise said to him in a humble manner while saluting.

"We're glad to be of service!" said Javelin happily.

"Did you like the way I fought? My beautiful fighting style?" asked Taihou with a lustful look.

Ignoring Taihou's question, Smoker said, "Don't get too cocky. Those folks are weaklings who really couldn't have survived long here in the New World. Strong ones won't let you have it at them that easily. The moment you look down on them and lower your guard, they can easily sink you. You will be dealing with people who can sink entire ships all by themselves."

"They're that powerful…?" said Laffey in disbelief.

"We will be careful," Enterprise said to Smoker with a nod.

"We've spotted an island!" a Marine said out loud. Everyone turned to a particular direction and indeed saw an island, and they could make out buildings there as well. If one looked closely, he or she could also see ships at the dock.

"If I remember correctly, that's Stockshop Island," said Smoker as he looked at it with a pair of binoculars.

"Stockshop Island?" said Alabama curiously.

"It has one of the more well-known shopping districts in the New World," replied Smoker. "Both a popular stop for tourists and people who travel the sea for various reasons, such as piracy…"

"Ooooh! Does that mean we'll run into pirates there?" asked a rather enthusiastic Shigure.

"Most likely," Smoker told her. "In fact, I can already see a particular loathsome pirate crew there!" His voice hinted at anger when he said the last line.

Looking through the binoculars, he was able to see a pirate ship with the figurehead with of a friendly and cartoonish-looking lion, and its jolly roger was a skull wearing a straw hat.
