BIO
Chef Gordon Soulfflé has a lot to deal with on his plate, pun not intended. Not only is he the head chef of a restaurant in a popular hotel, but he is the only chef. This, despite what you may think, does not explain his short temper and serious anger issues. He was always like that.
Unlike most of the other workers in the hotel, who knew what they wanted to be from childhood, Gordon took far longer to realise his passion. He had tried many different jobs over his lifetime, and none of them stuck. It was only when he tried cooking at age 30 did he find out just how much he liked it. Though he got into it late, it was certainly wasn't too late for him to learn the tricks of the trade.
He refused any more money than was necessary to pay for the bills and ingredients. The way he saw it, why did he need luxuries when cooking itself was a luxury? His co-workers were far less happy about working with him, though. He had a strong perfectionist nature and would scream at other cooks for the smallest of mistakes. Only once or twice was such a reaction warranted.
Many argue, however, that he had a very good point. After all, it was another cook's mistake that started a kitchen fire while the place was particularly packed. Most of the chefs within did not make it out alive, and Gordon was one of them. Unlike the others who perished within the flames, who panicked and screamed, Gordon peacefully accepted his fate against the deadly fire.
Nowadays, Hellen Gravely greatly restricts the dishes he can create to only what King Boo likes best. To any artist as passionate as him, you might as well be cutting off their oxygen supply. It leads to him intentionally clouding his kitchen full of thick smoke, so he can hide himself from all her prying cameras.
Though he is great friends with the others, most of them (except for Chambrea) are terrified to anger him. So, they leave him be in the kitchen to create. Which is all he wants in the first place. Do not disturb him under any circumstances. If you do, you'll have frying pan marks on your rear and face forever. Not to mention ringing ears.
EXTRA NOTES
-The only one he allows to eat his food while he's working on it is Polterkitty, who is especially fond of his fish meals. In fact, she often works as his official taste-taster. This has to be done in secret, as Ms Gravely does not approve of this.
-He can easily accept defeat, but only to that he considers 'worthy'. He would never back down from a rat infestation, but allowed the kitchen fire to consume him after realising he could not beat it.
-In case his quotes didn't make it clear, he speaks with a heavy French accent.
BEHIND THE SCENES
Hey, you know what's great about Soulfflé? The fact that his battle does not end the floor, nor do you see him before/after his battle. Meaning he comes and goes with little to no fanfare. Which consequently means that he's the least interesting. Still, I made do with what I had.
You get five bucks (not really) if you can possibly guess where the first name 'Gordon' comes from.
