Never admit
FanOfMost asked for a oneshot of Snowing going to see Emma to see if she can watch Neal. She thinks they're there about something else and starts confessing to something they didn't know about yet.
Babies are cute, nobody could really deny that. But when they're teething, it's a different matter. Snow and Charming felt like they hadn't slept in days. Neal just refused to settle. They just needed a few hours to clear their heads. A few hours to sleep knowing Neal was being looked after by someone patient enough to deal with his screams. That person could only be his big sister. So Snow and Charming decided they would try and convince her to take Neal for a few hours while they went home and had a rest. They'd brought Neal with his teething ring straight from the fridge. That would keep him quiet just long enough for Emma to hopefully agree to watch him.
Emma was confused when someone knocked at the door. She wasn't expecting visitors. She walked over and opened it. There stood her parents, Neal in his car seat hanging from her dad's arm. Both of them looked, well, not so great. They were staring at Emma in a way she knew meant they had to talk to her about something. She gulped. How that they found out already?"
"Can we come in?" Snow asked her. Emma sighed. She guessed they were going to need to speak about it sooner or later."
"Sure." Emma agreed, seeing her parents inside before closing the door behind them. They made their way over to the couch and sat down, trying to think of the best way for Emma to watch her brother. Emma decided that if they already knew, she should be the one to start the conversation. Keep it on her terms. How was she to know her parents just wanted her to babysit?
"Listen guys. I know you both probably weren't happy with what happened, but it had to be done. I'll kill Grumpy. He promised he wouldn't say anything." Snow was confused. She was about to ask what Emma was talking about when Charming squeezed her hand. Clearly Emma had done something they wouldn't approve of. This was their chance to find out what.
"Why did it have to be done, Emma?" Charming asked her, trying to sound like he knew what she was talking about.
"Because George demanded that a member of the royal household speak to him about a chance of parole. I knew he was just using it as an opportunity to get to one of us and I didn't want it to be either of you, that's why. I bit the bullet. It's no big deal. He tried to press my buttons, he didn't manage it, and he's still locked up where he belongs." Snow and Charming's eyes widened in horror.
"You went to George?!" Charming spluttered. "Emma! That could have been a trap!"
"Wait." Emma said, confused. "You didn't know?"
"No! We just came round to see if you would babysit Neal for a few hours so we could have some rest." Snow explained. Emma grimaced. She couldn't believe she'd blown it.
"Oh, well in that case sure. I'll watch Neal. You two scurry home and have a nice nap…"
"Not a chance you're changing the subject." Charming warned her. "Emma, how could you be so reckless? George wants to hurt us, hurt you. I don't even know when you got the time to sneak off and visit him, but it certainly won't be happening again. Not when you're working, anyway. From now on we answer all calls as a duo. We'll hire someone to run the station while we're out. Regina can find the money in the budget somewhere." Emma just stayed silent, knowing she'd been caught. Her and her big mouth.
