Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree
Just one of my own. Set before Neal is born.
One of Snow's favourite parts of Christmas had always been decorating the tree. Upon marrying Charming, she found out that was one of his favourite parts of Christmas as well. They only got a couple of Christmases together in the Enchanted Forest before the dark curse, but they were both so magical. When Snow found out she was pregnant, both she and Charming had talked long into the night about all the things they'd get to experience with their new baby. One both were excited about was sharing Christmas with them, particularly decorating the tree.
Things hadn't quite worked out the way either Snow or Charming had planned through their pillow talk, but at least they were finally with their baby girl for Christmas, as well as their handsome grandson. Better late than never. Both the parents had gone all out for this. Snow had selected only the finest baubles for the tree. Only the best looking tinsel. Only the most sparkly looking fairy lights. Nothing could be too good for this tree. Charming had gone himself to cut down the perfect tree for the household, bringing Henry with him to share the experience. He had brought measuring tape and everything to make sure there would be room for the star on top without it hitting the ceiling. Together, he and Henry found the perfect tree for them. Charming cut it down as evenly as possible with his axe and attached it carefully to the back of the truck, bringing it home. By the time Emma got home that evening, her family were all waiting excitedly to get started with the decorating. They had all insisted on waiting for her. This was all relatively new to Emma. She'd never really had a Christmas with a family who let her help with the tree. Now here she was with one that desperately wanted her to be there.
The time went by so quickly with much laughter and joy filling the Charming household. Henry had asked where the presents were, only to be told that Father Christmas would deliver them on Christmas Eve as always. The last thing to be done, was for the star to be placed on top of the tree. Snow and Charming smiled at each other. They'd been dreaming of this moment for twenty-eight years. Charming held out the star to Emma.
"Would you do the honours?" He asked her. Emma looked at him, shocked. She had never been allowed to do this before.
"Uh, sure." She said awkwardly. "I mean, if you want me to."
"We'd love you to." Charming assured her. Carefully, Emma took the star from her dad. She walked up and stood in front of the tree. She got on her tip toes and reached up high. Even then, she was struggling to get the star on properly. Charming grinned. This was his time to shine. He stepped up to Emma. "Here," He said. "Let me give you a hand." Slowly, so as not to scare Emma, he placed his hands around her middle and lifted her up. Emma was only startled for a moment.
"Uh, thanks." She said as she got the star into position. Snow had her hand on her chest. She could feel tears prickling at her eyes. This was just such a perfect moment.
"Uh, grams, are you crying?" Henry asked her. Snow smiled at him.
"Yes." She said proudly. "Yes I am."
