Moving back in

A guest asked for a oneshot of Hook not returning from the Underworld, so Emma asking her parents if they and Neal can move in with her and Henry because she's not ready to be alone yet.

Snow and Charming were both worried about Emma. It was only to be expected that after Hook didn't make it back from the Underworld she would struggle. But it had now been over a month since Emma had lost him and they saw little improvement. Neither parent was going to rush her. They understood grief was a long process that's different for everyone, but they were both worried Emma was stuck. She seemed very clingy. She was spending almost all of her time either at the station with her dad or wherever her parents and little brother were. Whether that be at their home or Granny's. Emma would insist that she and Henry join them. Not that Snow or Charming minded. It was good to be close to her to gauge how she was doing, but this wasn't like her at all. Emma wasn't a clingy person. She liked her own space. They were carefully trying to build back up her independence, but she was having none of it. It all eventually became clear when Emma finally told her parents what her end goal was with this. She had sat her parents down one evening for a proper discussion.

"What did you want to tell us, sweetheart?" Snow asked her, setting down everyone's hot chocolate. Emma bit her lip, a sure sign that she was nervous about something.

"It's no secret that I've not been coping very well since…well, you know." Emma began. "It's been hard adjusting to life without Killian. We had planned everything out, and knowing it's never going to happen, well, it hurts. Henry's doing his best, but it's not fair putting any more emotional strain on him. I know he's hurting over this too." Emma rubbed the back of her neck. "What I'm really wanting to ask is…that house…it's a great house, but it's far too big for just me and the kid. I've been coming round here more often with him because I just feel so alone without Killian. You guys, you help ease that up. How would you feel about you three moving out of here and into my place? There's plenty of room for us all there." Snow and Charming were a little taken aback by that. They weren't expecting Emma to ask that. She had been so desperate to get her own place so she didn't have to live with them. "But if you don't like the idea, that's cool too." Emma stumbled, worried she'd upset them. Snow reached across the table and took Emma's hand.

"Honey, we've missed living with you and Henry." Snow assured her daughter. "If you want us to come and stay with you, we'd love it. Like you said, your place has more room than here. We'd be able to spend more time with you and Henry, and if it makes you feel more secure, we'd love that too." Charming put his arm around Snow.

"If it's what you want Emma, we'd be more than happy to move in with you. If you don't mind going back to bunking with your mortifying parents." He added. Emma smiled. Something neither parent had seen her do in a long time.

"I wouldn't mind that at all."
